Wedding Woes

Wednesday

Since Ms. Parton turned 70 yesterday and I'm feeling nostalgic, I'm listening to Trio this morning.   I loved the harmonies as a kid and now that I understand the lyrics, I love this album even more.

I need to get out of my routine of staying up too late.

It snowed.  A lot of schools called a 2 hour delay, but ours never does.

I had to get both kids to school today because the kiddo needed to go in early.  I was definitely all sorts of Heffa's gif that she posted yesterday, because my kids have zero sense of urgency.  (Won't repost because honestly, it scares me a little ;) ).

Re: Wednesday

  • It snowed here, too, but only about an inch.  And it's warmer than it has been been all week, so not too shabby.

I had a terrible storage situation for my work stuff.  On Monday I saw a $400 lateral file cabinet on CL for $25.  I thought it was too good to be true, but DH and I drove 25 miles to check it out.  It's in perfect condition.  The owners are moving and selling every single thing.  It's such a great deal and now I have the space I need.
  • That's awesome Taw!!
  • We've had so many inspectors 6let now recognizes the county logo. A truck went past the bus stop and he was "is that for us?" No but thanks for the reminder I need to call.

Snow is starting now. 1" expected today possibly more Friday.

My mom had family pics done for Christmas. There are physical books we need to pick from. It's 2016 right?
  • No snow in my neck of the woods (yet), but school was already cancelled yesterday afternoon based on the prediction of 1-2 inches. Welcome to Tennessee, y'all.

Meanwhile, I'm sitting here in my cube bummed that I don't work at a school or have kids so I would have had an excuse to stay home. I'm outta here if it starts snowing in the next couple of hours.

  • Yesterday was Ice-geddon here.  Started sleeting around noon and didn't let up for hours.  The roads were all black ice.  A usual 10 minute drive took me an hour.  Lots of bad accidents on the highways and throughout the city and traffic at a complete standstill by the time I got home.  I had to drive home in first most of the way.

This morning was somewhat better....I only had to shift down to second a few times.  School was cancelled.  IDK if our office is closed or not.  I'm pretty confident in my ice/snow driving and knew I could make it, so I did. They always pay time and a half for the people who come in, so it was worth it.  Plus, WTF am I going to do at home?  It's amazing how little you have to do to care for a 1 person apartment/life.
  • It snowed an inch and half the day shift nurses were late for work this morning. It's chicago, people. We do snow. Get the fuck up early and get to work on time! I did my 12 hours and I. Want. To. Go. Home.

Home now. Eating my delicious, sweet, "nutritious" breakfast of fruity pebbles before going to bed in a bit. Thanks to the MLK Holiday, I only work 3 nights this week, so I'm off til Friday! Woooo!!

  •  Okay, I'm gonna be the mean one here. It is starting to get warm here. I think the high today is 72. I don't do cold. That is why I live in the low desert.

FI and I had a stay at home date last night. Made tacos and watched Ant-Man. It was awesome. I (finally) made my appointment to get my dress, it is exactly 1 month from today. Super excited about that.

Today would have been my Dad's 69th birthday.

I'm so jealous. I was not made for the cold, despite living in NY my entire life. I hate it more every winter. H and I have a 5-7 year plan of moving south or west to get out of the frozen tundra.

I'm right there with ya... I live in Tempe. I am very glad that it's starting to warm up a bit here finally. I lived in Michigan until I was 24, so I'm no stranger to the cold stuff, but I've been in AZ for 11 years and have no plans to leave.

Woot! This is when I love living in AZ. We've been here 11 years too, and I am so glad we don't have to deal with snow. Although my poor kids are absolutely freezing when it's like 70 F.

DD had her tubes placed on Monday and that went well. I took yesterday off in the event she was still off, but she was good and went to daycare. So I slept in, went shopping, and relaxed. Today it's back to work and I'm already dreaming of taking a day off.

  • DefConn was the same way with tubes.  Once we got him home and he ate, he was back to normal.  Of course, DH and I were exhausted from being worried parents about our baby having his first surgical procedure.
  • It is starting to sleet north of my city and I am kind of terrified. I am a transplant to the south so I am not worried about myself but all the other people scare me. My co-worker told me about how 2 years ago, her 30 min commute took 8 hours. She said everyone stopped at the bottom of a hill, on a 5 lane interstate, and attempted a hill one at a time. To make matters worse, I am on special assignment today so instead of getting off at 4 like normal I will probably stay till 5:30. I am not excited.
@ChelleJayne tacos sound amazing. Maybe I can convince FH to stop by the store on his way home.
  • We've gotten about 2.5-3 inches+ ice in the mountains of Western NC today. I worked from home today and took the pup outside to play for an hour. I can't really complain.

I feel for the parents out here though; the school closings have been all over the place. Our county closed the night before, but friends in the next country dropped their girls off this morning, went home, and 10 minutes later said they needed to be picked up by 9am.

I remember that feeling well! After DD had her first set of tubes she was like a new child! No more ear infections. It was wonderful, but I cried as they took her back to the operating room.
  • I went back to my spin class this morning after taking more than a week off. I tore my hamstring a week and a half ago. The backside of my right leg is glorious shades of black, blue and purple. DH left for a business trip this morning in the snow. Airport didn't delay though so he made it safe and sound. I have chicken and escarole soup heating on the stove. It is a soup kind of day.
  • It was in the high 60s today. I got an invite to an offsite meeting for today right before I left, yesterday. It ran over by more than an hour and the director took us out for lunch, so that was nice. Since I had to drive 90ish minutes each way to get to the plant, I ended up just coming home after.

    hazarfds of skimming.

read as "had her tubes tied" and then I had to re-read EVERYTHING in this post carefully because I was totally confused.

Buffy and I are still doown for the count, since she has a sinus infection and strep she shared w/ me.  I probably should have made her go to school today, but she said she was still to stuffed up and snotty and it's hard to argue that.  I, however, would have gotten more r&R if she'd have gone.
