Wedding Woes

s/o podcasts: Serial, season 2?

Thoughts?  Theories?

1.  I'm disappointed that they're going biweekly.  (Or fortnightly, as Sarah Koenig said on The Twitter.)

2.  It hasn't sucked me in nearly as hard as season 1, but it's still really interesting to me.

3.  I haven't heard enough yet to decide whether I buy Bergdahl's story.  I'm leaning toward giving him the benefit of the doubt, but who knows what the next several episodes will bring?

Re: s/o podcasts: Serial, season 2?

  • Ditto on all your points.

I think this season is much harder to get into because the case is known and Sarah has NO interaction (so far) with Bergdahl.  She's still a compelling story teller.

I'm hoping season 3 recaptures some of the magic.  I'm curious to see what they take on.
  • I've only listened to the 1st episode of this season. I need to catch up on Undisclosed too.

I was agog at his story in the first episode, though. What a moron.

Me too!  But then I thought..."He's in the right generation to be butthurt and decide he needs to go tell 'mom and dad' about his hurt fee-fees."  And that's what led to him walking off in the middle of the night into enemy territory.

Yes, there are unverified reports of issues with conditions at the base he was at and they may be true, but it just seems like he did not use the proper channels at all.

I don't think this a spoiler, but in today's episode, Sarah teases to that "next time, on Serial."  So I think we're about to find out more detail there.
  • I agree. I was a season 1 diehard and listened to hours of the Undisclosed podcast too. The second season is interesting but not in the same magnetic way. Plus I think everyone has Making a Murderer to satisfy their interests right now. ;)

I'm not sure what to think about Bowe yet. He was such an idiot and I felt so angry on behalf of the other troops who were talking (2nd episode I think) about how much they wanted to kill him, lol, for putting them through what he did. Also when you are 21 or 23 or whatever he was, you think you know everything, and you just don't.

  • I listened to today's ep and I missed that.  I think I stopped it before the preview.
  • I'm not as into this one as season 1, but I am enjoying it. It is definitely irritating though that they changed the release schedule.

I still just can't believe he thought he was going to be the next Jason Bourne. He's a fictional character!
  • I haven't even listened. I have zero interest in Bowe Bergdahl or any military figure. I was so disappointed to learn he was the focus.
