What is one thing that your Mom or Dad was right about, but you would never tell them?

Re: #4

  • Not really that my dad was wrong, but I always roll my eyes when he says "call when you get there." Now I know why.  I know I'll miss him saying it some day, but I also know my kids will roll their eyes when I ask them to call when they get there.
  • My mom always seemed so extreme about being cautious about people and not being so trusting. She would always say to hang back and let people show you who they are before diving head first. I'm 100 times more trusting than she is, but I have also picked up her cautious vibe for sure.

My dad was cheaper than cheap and I would laugh at him as a kid, but he taught me to respect money and to always save. It has paid off in the long run.

  • "You'll understand if you have kids one day."

I understand. I so deeply, deeply understand now.
  • My dad was never a good, present parent. Whenever I'd be super pissed at him, my mom would tell me to accept the way he is and "find something else to be mad about". She actually said that a lot - every time I was upset over something I couldn't control.

    She was right. Damn her.

  • To be honest, I sort of always knew when my parents were right and when they were being...well, them. My father always placed a lot of emphasis on being honest and true to yourself, and how that would make you happy - and of course he was right, but I never doubted him.

I don't think my mother has turned out to be right about anything, but hey, that's just who she is.

  • That I would one day turn into my mother.
