Song for my fiancé to dance to with MY mom

Hi! So my fiancé doesn't have a relationship with his biological mother. This has been a difficult thing for him - planning a wedding without her being included but he still wants to have a mother/son dance with my mom.

My mom and fiancé have a great relationship and she loves him as her own. Unfortunately most mother/son songs just aren't very fitting since she didn't raise him and all.

I'm just wondering if you guys have any song suggestions. Thanks!

  • I would leave this for your FI and mother to pick out on their own.

  • Are you having a father/daughter dance?  If so, a nice idea would be for hubby to escort your mother to the dance floor to join in half way through that dance.  (Unless the song is PURE dad/daughter lyrics)

Another idea, would be to have hubby and his new MIL begin dancing, and then ask the other guests to join in (including you with FIL or grandfather or special relative.)  That way, it's still special, but doesn't have to be "their song".

Musically, for above idea, or a spotlight dance, something pretty but not "historic" like one of these would work perfectly:

What a Wonderful World     Louis Armstrong

Unforgettable     Natalie & Nat King Cole

The Way you Look Tonight     Frank Sinatra     or     Michael Buble

Stand By Me     Ben E King

    I’ll Be There     Jackson 5

    God Only Knows     Beach Boys

    My Wish     Rascal Flats

I Hope You Dance     Lee Ann Womack

    In My Life     The Beatles

    Forever Young    Rod Stewart

Can You Feel The Love Tonight     Elton John

  • Agree with justsie to let them pick out the song.  FWIW, I used What a Wonderful World with my dad - the Michael Buble version.
