So we are thinking we want to have a seating board instead of the escort cards. We have a gorgeous frame already, so we actually only need the print, I will frame it.  I have looked around a bit for ideas on where to order one, but was curious if anyone else has made or bought a board before and where you got it from.  I know many florists rent/sell them, but they cost around $500 through them, and I know if I order online and frame it myself, it will be a lot cheaper.

Thanks in advance!!!

Re: Wedding Seating Board

  • I think this depends on the size of your print...but at me job we often have to outsource engineering/architecture plots to a printing company.  They will print up to 24 x 36 inch and mount it on a foam board for you, all you provide them is a PDF of the drawings...not sure if that is a route you can go, but here it isn't all that pricy for single color print.

I would not have the seating board instead of the escort cards, but together with them, unless you are having a small reception (say, under 50 people).  For more than that, everyone having to examine a seating board first to determine where they're seated is going to have lots of people crowding around that area.  A seating board is fine to tell everyone which table is which, but don't use it by itself to let everyone know which individual table they're seated at.
  • I had a seating board instead of escort cards.  I had the names listed in alphabetical order, so it was easy for people to find their name and table number next to it.  I ordered the board from Etsy.  I paid for the file and then had it printed at Staples. We had one of our engagement photos printed on it.  Our venue had a pretty easel for us to use too.  I thought it looked great and many of my guests complimented me on it.
IMO there's no difference between people crowding around a seating board to find their table assignment, or them crowding around a table with a ton of tiny cards on them, trying to find their name.

Agree.  Inevitably, I would find my table number, start walking away, get caught up in conversation with another guest, forget my table number, and have to go back to the board!  If I had a card, it would make it easier to just glance at it.
