Where to find bridesmaid dresses?

Where can we go aside from David's Bridal to look for Bridesmaid dresses?

None of us are very far from King of Prussia and the city and don't mind traveling a bit.

However there are 7 bridesmaid in every shape and size so we are all going shopping together with the bride.  Is there a shop that won't be instantly annoyed with 8 of us being there?? Or a place that will at least be good at hiding how truly annoyed they are...

Please share your experiences  and dress shops with me!

Re: Where to find bridesmaid dresses?

  • La Bella Moda is in Conshohocken. I had a positive experience when I went there with my bridesmaids.

I got my bridesmaids dresses at Lizelle's Bridal in Havertown. They were pretty laid back and hands off, but also very helpful when we needed it. I came in with a group of 6 and they had no problem with it.

  • My girls got theirs at Frank Bernard's in Wilmington, DE (Tax free!). There were 6 of us and we had a great time. They were happy to have us! Also, they have a huge selection and great prices.

  • I don't have a recommendation for where to go, just where not to. I'm a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding and we went to the Wedding Shoppe in Wayne and it wasn't a great experience. Nobody helped us for most of the time even though we had an appointment and they just werent helpful for answering questions. Also, one of our friends is a little bigger and the lady told her that her measurements made her a size 22 and that size 22 and up was more expensive for "extra fabric." We looked up the size chart later and discovered she should have gotten a 20 and probably could have even bought an 18... I think they just saw the opportunity to make more money and took it. I definitely won't go back for my bridesmaids.

Funny thing is, as we were leaving (I don't know if you noticed this angelstar) there was a bottle of champagne on ice... so I'm guessing if you are dropping 8k for a wedding gown, they treat you a little differently ;-)

No, I didn't notice that! I'm not surprised though, they seemed pretty snooty.

  • We went shopping at Country Bride and Gent in West Point.  They were great.  We bought the dresses from Pearl's Place and saved $65-$85 per dress, each girl had a different dress.  I can't rec. Pearl's Place enough!

It's a bridal salon in LA and gives you a discount for ordering online since you do not use their services.  You can call and get a quote on dresses you do not see prices listed.

All my girls had their dresses shipped to their houses since they live in Boston, Western PA, then my sister lived with my mom.  If you get them shipped together you save money. They all found their own seamstress which they were very happy to do.  The one in Western PA only paid $10!

I would NOT go with Lizelle's. I'm getting my bridesmaid (only) dresses from there and I've been less than impressed with the service. From the moment they found out I had purchased my dress elsewhere, my wedding party was treated second class. Really bad form, especially since they messed up the orders.
