Wedding in 17 days, BM did not yet get dress

hi, one of my bridesmaids did not buy a dress when the other girls did months ago, and she said she'd try to find on in the store, but has not yet.  now she is saying she's going to try to find a used one but the wedding is in 17 days.  i already offered to let her participate in the ceremony by being a reader if she couldn't get a dress for whatever reason or did not want to be a bridesmaid! how should i proceed? my mom said to tell her to just be a reader, but she's having a shower for me on saturday and i feel really guilty.

thanks in advance for your advice on this :( situation!

    well, I would wish her luck in finding hte dress used, but, make sure she understands that if she doesn't find it, she will not be in the wedding as a BM, and you will be thrilled to have her as a reader and a guest. 

    And then, stop stressing about it.

    If you are comfortable with her wearing a dress that is different then the rest I recommend going to a place that does business typically off the rack. Most places have the same colors or similar ones. But give her up until a week before because she could pull through. But know that she most likely won't. Odds are it was a financial issue.

    Are you letting her get ANY dress? If so, I guess I don't see an issue. 17 days is plenty of time to find a dress off the rack at a variety of stores. The way you word it makes it sound like that's the case. If so, I'm sure she'll be able to find something by the wedding. If not, then she's taken herself out of the WP.

    Don't tell her now that she is out, like your mom suggested. She still has time! If it is the wedding day and she has no dress, then she won't be in the WP. But if you are really being flexible and letting her pick any dress, I'm sure she will come up with something.

    Yeah, I told the girls to get a short dress in a certain color and a certain fabric from a certain store so hopefully she can do that within the next two weeks. my mom needs to have the programs printed soon though and I need to ask another person to be a reader so i would like to know sooner rather than later. Thanks for the replies!

    If you give her a heads up that she'll be a reader if she doesn't get the dress in time, I think you'll be fine. It's her fault for procrastinating like CRAZY!
