Anyone have an outdoor projector?

I thought this might be something fun for DH for Father's Day.  I am so NOT techy though and I don't know where to begin to look.  So, why not ask a wedding board?

Re: Anyone have an outdoor projector?

Yeah, house on a sheet or a screen. I don't know.
  • My friend's parents have a TV mounted on their back porch. (it's mounted on the house and can be adjusted) The porch is covered and the TV is in a locked cabinet when not in use. (It's also considerably warmer here in the winter, so i don't know how practical this would be in OH.) I love their porch/deck/yard/pool - great for entertaining. When we eventually move/build, I'd like to do something similar. (Their yard is much smaller, and virtually non-existent with the pool. The rest is landscaped, so minimal maintenance. We need space for the dogs to play, and our yard is probably 2x the size, so it's not as doable for us.)

We have some friends who used to do this, they would project on a sheet in their backyard--usually 80's movies with lots of adult beverages.  It was really fun, but I have no idea about the projector specs or anything.  But it's a cool idea.
  • My FMIL's neighbors do this for football. They have a projector (a little older maybe 2005- 07) that I am pretty sure stays mounted on a stand in the tree. It is a little dim, newer models are probably a vast improvement, but does the job for 15 people to hang out on the deck and watch the game. I don't have any specifics but they do exist. Sorry that's not very helpful.

@barbie92that's far more set up than I'm looking for.

@Heffalumpand @missJeanLouiseThat's what I was picturing.  A kid party with popcorn and smores then an adult evening or a  night of sports.
  • I think a projector could be rented for the occasion. Unless you're thinking of starting a whole new endeavor.

I wanted one for more than just one night of party. I'm thinking lots of parties over lots of years.
