Timing - again!

Sorry, I promise I won't ask about timing again after this!

It's just the one part that I want to wrap my head around.

So, our ceremony is at 4.30 at The Flamingo. I've booked Maggiano's for 7.30.

My idea was to put casino chips on the seats in the chapel (or get someone to pass them out if that's not doable) for The Flamingo casino, so that my guests can have something to do as we go for photos.

Ceremony and photos with guests will take us to 5pm I'm guessing, then I was going to ask everyone to meet for a bus to take them to the Vegas sign at around 6.30. We will meet them there with our photographer, then to to Maggiano's from there.

I feel like I'm leaving my guests for too long, and can't decide whether to bring Maggiano's forward 1/2 hour if possible. So - 5pm ceremony end, bus for guests at 6.15 ish, Maggiano's for 7?

There will be around 30 guests.

I have looked into hosting a cocktail hour but unfortunately it's not within our budget.

I'm not sure I'd do the chips thing since unless you're going to leave $100's, they don't tend to last very long. :-)  If it's a Saturday, Flaming is not likely to have any table games running lower than $10 min.

In any case, I think the gap from ceremony to Maggiano's is fine, however, I'd move up the bus part.  Can the bus have drinks on it?  Even better if so.  The reason I'd move it up is because getting 30 people on a bus at Flamingo, moved down the strip, off the bus at the sign, posed, photo'd, back on the bus, to Maggiano's, back off the bus, is easily going to take more than an hour.  If the sign is busy at that time, there may be a wait as well.  It tends to get busy on Fri/Sat afternoon/evenings, but you never know, could be empty.

So if you were to do bus at 6p, then your guests really only need to find something to do for about an hour, and that's not too long; they can go people watch at Margaritaville, have a drink, maybe play some games, etc.

We are using the DDB to pick us up after the ceremony and after talking to them and the photog we went with an earlier bus time to make sure that we made it around a little better. our timeline is a little different (wedding @ 8pm and bus pick up at 9pm) but felt easier to get everyone on the bus with a little less down time in between. worst case there is you make it to dinner a little early. we felt it was better to go that route than getting behind schedule when people scatter between the ceremony and bus pick up. i don't know the size or make up of your group but that was a concern with some friends and family. then you could end up late for the bus, which could make things run a little late as far as making the dinner timeline. if you haven't already, i would definitely try to talk to someone at the bus company and see what they recommend. Mike at DDB emailed us earlier and went over our plan as we are getting married the same night as a George Strait concert at the new venue on the Strip and he wanted us to be prepared to take an alternate route or warn us that it could complicate things depending on the times

The wedding is on a Thursday so hopefully it'll be a little quieter.

i might look to arrange a bus that can allow drinks (haven't looked into it yet) and do a small strip tour if they're running early, it's something I didn't think about :-)

Not sure if it's worth doing a strip tour in something other than the DDB as I imagine they won't be able to see much of the strip from a limo type car.. Anyone done this?

    Thanks for the advice.
