Wedding Woes

Tuesday!

What's up peeps?

My FB feed is full of a new crop of kids heading off to school.  I love seeing the pics of the excited kiddos and relieved parents.  LOL

We migrated e-mail systems 2-ish weeks ago and had training last week.  Our numbers are out of control, so it's raining OT.  I'm hoping it keeps up for a couple weeks so I can make some sweet, sweet extra money for Hawaii.

DefConn got in bed with me this morning.  Between my alarm snoozing, he fell out of my bed.  How does one so small fall out of a king size bed when he has a space larger than his own bed to sleep/roll around on? *smh*

Re: Tuesday!

  • Two things on my agenda today:
    1) Get my payables done early so I can
    2) Get all my homework done on this class and then I get a break for a week.
  • I was asleep at 7pm last night.  Traveling kicks my ass every time.  Woke up with a headache that I can just feel escalating into a full-blown drug-resistant migraine, so I am trying to stay ahead of it with extreme hydration and aspirin.  All it's accomplished so far is an angry bladder.

Both my boss and DH called last night to tell me about the travel advisory for Miami due to the 10 new cases of Zika that have been identified in the neighborhood adjacent to where I'm working.  My timing has always been impeccable.  But I was touched that my boss cared enough to tell me.

Three of my friends and my brother also called me to ask if I'd heard about the flooding in Ellicott City.  We had our RD at one of the restaurants there and the wedding just past Main St.  All of us had grown up in that area, so it's been a bit of a shock for us.  The videos--I could not imagine being there.  It's so sad.

On a happier note, DH is supposed to talk to the regional GM of his company tomorrow to find out if he's going to get the transfer.  The guy is worried about the length of DH's commute/where we plan to live, but DH remains optimistic that they will work with him to get him a lateral move.  I'm a little more pessimistic, but I handle disappointment with the grace of Ron Swanson:

Whatever happens, and whatever he chooses to do, he has my full support (duh).  The suspense, however, is KILLING me.

  • How far will his comments be @AtomicBlonde if it all goes through? Would they hold it up if he chooses to live farther away?

I am so tired for some reason. I was in bed asleep shortly after 10 last night, slept all night, and still feel like I need a nap.

FH texted me last night that his boss gave him a substantial raise. Since he is 3 hours behind me, I have to wait till he wakes up to know what that means. He is in training all day though so who knows when I will be able to talk to him. *le sigh* I would prefer for us to move and am concerned that this money might make him want to stay. As far as I know, he is still waiting to hear from HR about a start date. Everything this new company does is so fucking slow.

Other than that, I brought the dog to work with me today. He loves it and it encourages me to walk more during the day so Win-Win.

  • I slept like shit and I don't know why.

Someone tell me I look fat because I'm trying to find the motivation to start eating better and working out again.

  • @charlotte989875, without traffic, we're estimating between 30-45 minutes, depending on where we end up living.  If he gets caught in traffic, it could be a lot longer.  The commute home in the evenings will be a lot worse for him than in the mornings.  I think the issue was he couldn't remember exactly where I'll be working, and gave the guy the wrong city as a reference point.

The biggest concern they have is they are in a hiring freeze, so they don't want to create a lateral position specifically for him and have him quit after a year because the commute is a nightmare.

@missJeanLouise I hope you guys can come to an agreement about what's best regarding staying or leaving!

@ShesSoCold If you want, I can have K start harassing you.....

  • I'm considering making a PowerPoint of my class rules using only memes. Fun or lame/trying too hard?

I've just discovered Mr Robot and as a result completely disregarded everything else in my life this past few days. I love it when I find a new show, but it does mean the deadline for having my invitations done has slipped a bit. Oops.

I need to find a suitable present for my 2yo nephew tonight. He loves anything he can ride on or is machinery related. Anyone with any suggestions is very welcome!

Eta: my brother just told me that my nephews current favourite toy is a ride on bin lorry that you can put a small bin on the back and make it tip. A bin lorry. Kids are so weird (but too cute by half!).

  • My birthday massage was cancelled because the therapist called out sick, so I'm going this afternoon instead.    I'm getting a free upgrade because of the cancellation.   As a result all I'm thinking about is the massage and not wanting to work.

Yesterday we got notice that there was a letter that had postage due.  Just went to pick it up.  Yeah, my parents sent me a card and didn't put enough postage.  So basically I had to pay 42 cents to get my birthday card.    My sister and I are getting a good laugh at our parents expense.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

Two-year-olds are fun to shop for. For friends' and family members' two-year-olds I tend to go with Duplo.

Two-year-olds are fine-tuning their fine motor skills and are starting to use their imaginations.

They have a really cute "My First Duplo" that has construction vehicles your nephew might like: http://www.lego.com/en-us/duplo/products/my-first-cars-and-trucks-10816

Holy cow, "bin lorry" is the most adorable phrase!  So much more charming than "garbage truck."

I'm learning how to use a new program (Wolfram Mathematica) today and I feel dumb.

Update: I figured out how to do basic functions. One step at a time. I rewarded my self with fruit snacks.

He is so fun! For his first birthday I got him a duplo set with a wagon to store it in - he spent all his time in the damn wagon until his big cousin dragged him in it and left him out by the back door. His little legs couldn't climb out of it  :D

@SaintPaulGal haha it really isn't that adorable when it's said in a glaswegian accent!

  • I'm having a really shitty day.  Yesterday I took off of work to surprise K (Monday is her only day off) and we ended up spending all day working on her final competition (which should've been today).  Only to discover a message that had been sent at 11 pm the night before (Sunday), moving the competition to next week.  I'm not going into all the details, but this moving the date is shady as hell.  K protested the move, and has been kicked out of the competition.  She is pulling some strings to put the decision up higher to try and get back in; at this point I doubt it happens.  10 hours of 10 people's rehearsal time, all of my costuming time, K's money, costuming, rehearsal, and choreography time, just gone.  And there's a bunch of lying involved and K has proof of the lies, but it won't matter.  I'm so completely finished with these people.

Today, I woke up with a pounding headache, probably from being so mad yesterday, the weed count is starting to skyrocket so I'm sniffly and itchy, and I started my period.  I nearly called in sick, but figured that looked not right after having a 3 day weekend.  So yeah...I just need to have this day be done already.  I hate it when I have something in my life that is just so damn fun, until assholes come along and ruin it.
  • I'm so sorry, @VarunaTT. That sucks!

FW is at a fitting with my Mom and one of our BMs. She sent a few pics, and she looks fabulous!

As for me, after work I'm volunteering to help put together child identification kits at National Night Out Against Crime.
  • That's shitty, @VarunaTT. People suck sometimes.
  • @VarunaTT - so sorry.  That sucks

I just spoke with FH and we are still a go for moving. He just felt really bad accepting the raise and pretending like he didn't know he is leaving. Still no idea when though, lol.

@glasgowtolondon. We Love Mr.Robot! Okay, FH loves it more than I do but it is one of the only shows we keep up with.

@VarunaTT I hope K kicks all their asses in competition! (Eta: because they are going to let her back in. Duh. )
  • I'm sorry, @VarunaTT - that really sucks!!!!
  • WTF @VarunaTT!  That is some crazy bullshit.  Poor K and poor you!  :(  Assholes!
  • Boo, @VarunaTT, that really sucks.  People can be so schiesty!  I hope everything works out for K (and you!).

  • So, DefConn's old preschool called and said they had a binder of his artwork and whatnot that we can come and pick up.

Also, we're getting a bonus floating holiday this year.  It's the 10th anniversary since my company was bought by our current company and this is the 'gift'.  So now I have to decide if I'm going to take an extra day off after Hawaii or if I'm going to take my actual anniversary off.  :D
  • @AddieCake I personally think that's a fun idea. When I was that age, that would have made you the cool teacher in my eyes.

@VarunaTT that sucks!!! I would have been mad too. I hope your headache goes away and everything works out.

Today has been an alright day. We had our company wide quarterly meeting today. It included a free lunch, which is always a plus. The bad news is that I'm usually awkward at things like that and weird things always happen to me. Today was no exception. They haven't had a quarterly meeting since I started, and the boss man decided that it was a good idea to have all us newbies introduce ourselves right in the middle of lunch. OF COURSE he called on me first, right after I had taken a nice big bite of BBQ. Classy. Then everybody had to wait for me to finish chewing. Ugh. Why me???

  • @VarunaTT that just sounds shady, I'm sorry.

@AddieCake I vote go for it, but memes and annoying teenagers are two of my favorite parts of life!

@lyndausvi hopefully it gets rescheduled soon.  FI promised me a massage for my birthday...in February.... I told him if I don't get it soon I'm cancelling the wedding.

Actually we're fighting about the wedding right now and I don't like it.  I was up working on stuff for a couple hours a couple nights in a row and he got all pissy because it took too long.  Then you do it then, this shit doesn't take care of itself.  This morning he promised to learn how to use the paper trimmer if I don't ask him to actually stick the invitations to the card pocket and promised to do better.  He's been a crank since he got back from China and I'm about ready to send him back.
