Facebook Wedding Invitation

Hi all,

One of my dear friends from school is getting married this weekend, and she invited all of her guests using a Facebook event. I would normally shake my head at this, but since she is special to me I'm just excited to see her get married and can look past this faux pas. The only thing is that she did not invite my FI because I don't think they are friends on Facebook. Should I assume he is invited? Also, one of my best friends is going too so I would be alright if it was just limited to me, but I didn't know if it would be weird for me to go without him.

Re: Facebook Wedding Invitation

  • The wedding is this weekend and you are just now questioning this?  If I were in your shoes, I would have checked with the friend weeks ago on whether your fi was invited.  At this point I assume you have already sent your RSVP for yourself only.  If he isn't part of their final guest count it is almost certainly too late to add him now.

When people use fb like this, it can lead to big problems.  Mainly the one you are asking about to start with!  So I think you are fine to send a pm and ask her if your FI can attend as well.  This kinds sounds like the more the merrier type party if you just got the invite and the wedding is this weekend.

I can't even begin to figure out how this will work with their caterer!  Even if only having a cake and punch reception, she would need a rough estimate of people already to make sure she has enough refreshments!

The wedding invites were sent out through social media and there was no date to RSVP. It is a very informal afternoon wedding that will be held in a church and the church's gym to follow. I wasn't too concerned because of how little planning there seems to be involved. If this was a sit-down dinner evening I would definitely have asked earlier. @SaintPaulGal

I have a feeling a FB invite is going to be the least of their faux pas.
That is the vibe I'm getting, too.
