Everyone must be partying already.

What's up for the weekend?

It's tax-free weekend here so I did some shopping this morning. Next up oil change and pool time.

Saturday will be drama because we are skipping BIL's granddaughter's 1st bday and going to the Brown's exhibition game. Sunday I have a wedding shower and then we're all going to the pool. M2 has a bday party so we're all just going to play (the boys have been warned they won't be getting cake or treat bags).

I am here. We're having more system issues (SHOCKER!) and so I was sitting waiting for phone calls (ugh) for awhile, but now I'm working on a project. But I hate being in this holding pattern. This really sucks. We're not learning the new system if we can't get into it. This week has kicked my ass mentally and physically, so I'm done. I thought earlier this week if they offered OT or tomorrow that I'd work it, but now I'm thinking not...even though all this shit is putting us farther and farther behind. /rant over

Tonight: Olympics party
Tomorrow: Putzing around the house and shopping
Sunday: Work

DH is supposed to work all weekend doing inventory. He's hoping between today and tomorrow (they're not running production) that they'll get it all done and then he'll be off tomorrow night. I'm trying not to get my hopes up because it's rare that his job gets their shit together enough to have stuff done early.

I bought some Sony noise canceling headphones for our upcoming trip and I am using them today. So far I can totally recommend them. The real test is how they'll work on the plane.

Sunday is exactly 2 months until we leave for Hawaii! ZOMGZ!

Happy Friday, WW!

DH and I are going to go somewhere nice to dinner to celebrate.... BECAUSE HE GOT THE TRANSFER!!!

He has to go in for a meet-and-greet at some point, but that's a HUGE question mark that's finally been resolved. Now we just have to find a place to live, haha, but baby steps. I can schedule my house-hunting trip, and DH can work from there to figure out when he's going to move out with me, which will hopefully be right around the time we close on the house, which will hopefully be in early-mid November. All of this is making my brain hurt, but that could just be Friday talking.

I'm flying home this afternoon. I HATE flying. If humans were meant to fly, we'd have been born with wings and feathers. I also planned poorly and I'll be landing smack in the middle of rush hour. Womp womp.

Side note: every time I read or hear the phrase "womp womp," I find myself thinking of wombats. Which leads me to think of the Even Stevens musical where Ren had the flu and was hallucinating. "Sixth period... sixth period..."

I'm totally in an "ask and you shall receive" moment with work. I asked for more hours and I got the accounts, the in house admin is going off for 2 weeks so she's passing off the scope writing to me to just keep when she gets back, and a salesperson wants a conference call to discuss how I can help her. Woohoo!!

Congrats @AtomicBlonde I can imagine what a huge relief that is for you. Good luck with the house search. I hope you guys find something you love.

I am driving 5 hours to FMIL's after work tonight and tagging along with FSIL tomorrow while she runs errands. When I decided to go I was hoping I would have some idea of what is happening. That is not the case and I will need to drown my sorrows with people who commiserate. I am still annoyed with FH for not pressing harder. It has been 3 weeks since he signed a contract and there has been, as far as I know, zero contact from the company.

I hope the opening ceremonies will be on demand later.

Just got back from a run. Two weeks ago a young woman was abducted and killed in the next county over from me while out on a bike ride, so I'm pretty skittish about running by myself these days. I hate being wary of people in my neighborhood.

Were heading out tomorrow to go to Buffalo for the night for a big family dinner. I get to hang out with my sister so that will be great.

Congrats to you and your H @AtomicBlonde!!! That is awesome!

I am actually feeling pretty proud of myself today. I joined Planet Fitness a couple of weeks ago and I have been doing good about going a few times a week for once. When I got up this morning and got dressed my clothes felt just a little looser. I'm not seeing much of a difference on the scale, but I don't really care about that as long as I can get rid of some of this squishiness.

This weekend is full of nothing and I am SO excited about it.

Usual here. DS has swim, and I just looked at the calendar and discovered that we'll be at the beach on the day they do the little graduation ceremony for the kids moving up. I'm not exactly rescheduling our trip, but it's too bad just the same.

Wooz is having a lot of feelings about moving her riding lessons. She was almost in tears in the car, especially over one horse in particular that she's grown attached to. I think once she starts at the new place, she'll feel better. New Place posted photos of mares and foals on FB this morning, and those seemed to cheer her up.

DS has a birthday party this weekend, and another next weekend. The kid whose birthday is next weekend smacked him in the face with a triangle from the music center like a day after I RSVPed. I'm hoping things settle down, because ever since then, DS always tells me "I don't like Holden. He hurted my mouth and I was sad." Tempted to cancel on them and just give DS the Duplos.

S/O birthdays, I have to coordinate with two of the moms whose kids have birthday the same week as DS. I need to start reserving a place and ordering invites, and I don't want to set up a schedule conflict.

In closing, under "kids say the darnedest thing," DS showed up at the breakfast table pantsless again. When I asked where his pants were, he said "I guess I'm all done with them somewhere else." Boys!

I die! Question, do feel like DS being #2 is just more...wild...than Wooz? DefConn is definitely the kid that keeps us on our toes. I worry about shit with him I never even thought of with the kiddo.

And OMG @charlotte989875! That is horrible! I'd be totally freaked out too.

Ugh, I'm working both jobs today and doing a double at the club tomorrow. I do have Sunday off, woohoo.

It's suppose to rain most of the weekend. Which on one hand is a nice change, but it's cutting into my walking time. It also sucks for work tomorrow as I work the beverage cart on the golf course. Golfers be all crazy and still play in the rain. Which means I spend all day driving in circles in the rain and cold.

One of the members passed away and there is a memorial for him tonight. There is a potential for a shit show at dinner because they are expecting about 200 people. Mostly because some of those 200 people will think it's totally okay to show up without a reservation and expecting to be sat right away in the prime seats. Mind you some 120 have already made reservations. But some of them do not get the concept of reservations and get annoyed when I say I can't accommodate them at that time. Some of the the people who did reserve have ZERO concept of time and have not problem coming in 45 minutes late.

Damn, I'm pretty grumpy already and I still have 7 hours till I go in

I'm going this afternoon to buy my school supplies. We're hanging out at a friend's house tonight, and then this weekend I'm going to work on getting my first couple weeks lesson plans on the new LP format. Every year there's a new "latest and greatest" way to do it that is really just a stupid waste of time.

I just got one of those FWDed from customer service, and they're like "He's complaining that no one has gotten back to him, but he emailed the Business Development Manager, who has nothing to do with him. HALP." It would have been nice if the BDM had gotten back to him or even forwarded his email, but also the complainer has been a dealer for years and should know that the guy he contacted can't do jack for him. But yes, he had a dissertation his butthurt, so now I get to say "I'm ever so sorry that we as an organization have disappointed you, kind sir..."

Good question. In general, Wooz is probably the more on-our-toes kid, because DS is generally pretty chill. (Until you cross him, then the ginger comes out!) DH and I say privately that Wooz is like the border collie of kids--clever and active and a whole lot of work. If I tell DS to read quietly in his room while I say good night to Wooz, he will happily do it and I can pick right up with him when I'm done with her. (Whereas if the situation is reversed, Wooz will whine the entire time, and then I will find that she emptied an entire bin of Legos, started building an undersea castle, and will got to pieces when you tell her to pick them up and get in bed.)

But he's stubborn in a completely non-confrontational way. If you tell him to put on pants, or stop eating crayons (why is this a thing?!?!) or whatever, he will be superficially obedient, when really he just puts what he wants to do on hold until no one is looking. And he can go back to doing whatever he wants. He doesn't get upset at all, it's like he's resigned to waiting you out, and will put his pants on until you're doing dishes, and then he'll ditch them in the playroom. Wooz makes an issue of every syllable, and DS plays the long game.

We're supposed to meet with our photographer tomorrow, but I worry that she's going to flake out (again). Fortunately we have a potential back-up, a photography student from one of FW's FB groups.

This weekend is going to be all about catching up on laundry and maybe some housework. Fun times.

I am very much looking forward to relaxing this weekend. I stocked up on food, all my housework is done and I have been adding to our prime watchlist. We will have to leave the house Sunday for nephew's bday party, but I am looking forward to seeing all of my family, so it's not too bad.

DefConn is a complete nut. Yesterday, I found him rinsing off his powerwheel because he put sand in the bed of it. He was wearing his rainboots and all of his clothes.

Not even 10 min later, I come back to find him half-dressed, his boots/socks/shirt strewn about the yard. He's standing in the gator and just spraying at random. Soaked head to toe, of course.

And it's shit like that, to varying degrees, every.single.day with him. And yeah, he's totally got the "I give zero fucks" attitude, along with a healthy dose of stubborness.

We heard about that incident on the news in my area - so scary!

This weekend will be the quintessential summer weekend for H and I. Today I'm WFH and later tonight H and I will be having a delicious dinner on the patio of a restaurant we've never been to. My entire team got gift cards to this place for Christmas and we're just getting around to using ours.

Tomorrow H and I have to go to spend a few hours with his family for an extended family picnic and then we're off to the huge wine and beer festival that our town puts on every year. Delicious wine & beer, cheese tastings, cooking demonstrations, lots of food truck food and local art on display. There's also music at night that we may check out.

Sunday we're going a baseball game - we have free tickets from the home opener that got cancelled that we haven't used. We'll probably find a brewery in the area that we haven't checked out yet and stop in on our way home.

Monday I took off from work - I plan on cleaning the house top to bottom and getting some much needed weeding done outside. The temps are only going to be in the 70s, which is a much needed reprieve from the high 80s/low 90s we've been having for the past two months.

^^^ That is a straight-up Wooz move. DH and I have (privately, again) called her the poster child for zero impulse control. An idea pops into her head and she goes straight to "Why the fuck not?" It's great when she's in art class. It's less great when she's supposed to be cleaning her room and instead has built a zipline for her stuffed animals out of a jump rope and some clothes hangers, and then broken half a dozen hangers trying to see how many it would take to hold her instead.

DefConn is totally our tinkerer. He's always messing with shit and you ask him what he's doing and he'll give you a long, rambling explanation as to why he had to take out half of DH's tools to make something that isn't physically possible to make/do.

@charlotte989875 I know two people who knew her/lived in her town. The details are horrific. I don't know if you heard about the girl in Monroe who went missing after a Haloween party last year, they just arrested her killer. Her body was found less than 5 miles from FI's school. I always just remind myself that we know about them because of the 24 hour news cycle and that I was far more likely to be abducted / killed in the 80s.

I'm super jealous of Defconn, I want to be all done with pants somewhere!

Tonight I am going out with my bestie who's had a super shitty week, then tomorrow is a joint bachelor/bachelorette for some friends and Sunday is a Tigers game. Admittedly, I'm most excited for Sunday...FI and I are finally getting along again and I'm excited for some one on one time (ish- it's a group of alums from the Poli Sci department at my alma mater during the game!)

Ugh. So I did this, and one mom was like "Nope, we're doing his the following weekend, thanks for checking!" The other was like "Let me tell you my life story about how her birthday is this day, so we might do the party that day, or maybe another day, and then there's Peppa Pig, and oh by the way maybe we should do one big party for all three." (Bolding is mine.)

Lady, you obviously don't know me at all.

But in all seriousness, that sort of sucks for the attendees. Normally you toss in a gift, and in exchange get 90-120 minutes of complete chaos with your little friends, plus pizza, juice, and cake. (Or if you're lucky, CFA nugget tray, which is what we're doing for DS.) But if we do a joint party, now you have to fork over three gifts and you still only get one party? The MBA in me frowns at that subpar ROI.

Rationally, I know this. It's just that it's so horrible and so close to home that's freaked me out a bit. She was so close to her house in a safe area.
