Wedding Woes

happy things

with all of the political nonsense, fear/worry, illnesses, death, job losses, etc.,

I'm starting a post so people can share positive things that are going on with them right now. If nothing else, feel free to share a gif or picture that makes you smile/laugh.

For me:
  1. We got tickets for the Pens/Flyers stadium series (outdoor game) in Pittsburgh in Feb. This is super exciting because they haven't even gone on sale to the general public yet, and we thought we'd probably miss out/not be able to get them without paying an arm and a leg. One of DK's friends with season tickets was able to get us a pair during the presale.
  2. One of my favorite musicians (Andrew McMahon) just announced his next tour, and I got presale tickets today for his Houston gig in 2017.
  3. We're doing a family weekend trip to San Antonio, this weekend, to take Wolverine to Sea World. (this is in lieu of a birthday party, so double win)
  4. We're closing on our refi on Tuesday - locked in a great rate on a 15 year, and will save us a ton of money in the long term.
  5. We saw this on Monday night:

Re: happy things

  • Good post!  I'm jealous of your hockey game! Going to a winter classic would be awesome!

    - Phantom of the opera in 36 days
    - NY again in 37
    - Honeymoon cruise in 53
-oh, and I have another play I'm going to in 26 days, but it's The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and I will admit, I have no idea if I should be excited for it (came in my season pkg)

  • Such a great idea!!

    - eye feeling better than yesterday
    - caved and bought lunch today. Place can be touch-and-go but was a good day today :)
    - I have a personalized Nutella jar coming to me in a couple weeks :)
    - i'm likely getting a front hall bench this week AND it's on sale!
  • a few more:
16 days until our Nashville trip
    32 days until our cruise
DK still has 2 days PTO to use (I have 8, but can carry over 5 - his is use it or lose it) - so we're going to plan 2 date days sometime before the end of the year.
  • Oh, also I'm seeing Hamilton in Chicago this spring!
  • @Ilovebeachmusic, are you as excited to see "The Bodyguard" as I am? LOL

@Charlotte989875, it is sooo good!  I had tickets in my cart to see in in NYC from a year from now, but I didn't act fast enough and they were gone.  The seats I had left to choose from were not good enough for the seat snob queen (me).

  • @CharmedPam, The Bodyguard was another one I was questioning. To be honest the main reason we bought season's tickets was so we were guaranteed seats for Hamilton - and we could buy extras (for DD and SIL). I am looking forward to Aladdin!
  • Loving the positive thread idea.

-Looking forward to Thanksgiving with the families in NY...I like going back and spending time with everyone.

-We just finished our living room and got a beautiful bookcase set to surround our TV.  Now I get to decorate all the new spaces we created!  Also DH hung up our wedding photos behind the love seat that were in storage for a year and the living room looks like a home.

-We ordered a new bedroom set two weeks ago and they are estimated the arrival to be the week between Christmas and New Years.  We upgraded to King so I get a new mattress too! Our old set is going into a guest bedroom so it was two rooms for the price of one!!!!

-They are announcing raises at my job soon and since the health benefits are staying the same I actually get to keep more money this year.

  • I will eventually get a photo, but something that made me giggle last night.

    The nightstand on M's side has no top drawer - it broke in the move and we're looking at seeing if we can fix it - and in the bottom drawer, it's his socks. Not matched, just laying around. {he has 90mil socks that are basically the same, so no biggie}

Just turned off the light, and I hear some rustling on his side. It sounds like a cat hopping on the table, I look over anticipating a shadow. Nothing. Turn on light and Angel hopped in the drawer to nest in M's socks :') He moved before I could grab an old phone to snap a photo, but it's so darn cute. He nests like a bird lmao

    Good things make me happy!

My sister is coming for a super quick visit next weekend to help me with picking out some of my rental decor, and then we're going to hit the mountains and do some skiing.
We finally have snow! Its a beautiful magical winter wonderland out there now :)
It is also free coffee time at McDonalds right now, I'm always down for free coffee!
I have a 3 day weekend to myself and plan on locking my door and silencing my phone and just enjoying it alllllllll to myself.
My Mom bought her dress for the wedding and it looks great on her and makes her feel so beautiful, which makes me really happy that she will be comfortable and feel so good about herself!

Edit to add one more thing:  We're going to watch our the Leafs vs Oilers game next week. Leafs are our team but its not often they're in our neck of the woods, so I'm SO EXCITED!

yup! That's why I bought them too.  A season package was what a ticket was going for, so it was worth it.  Aladdin is awesome too.  I read an article saying even if you sell the other 4, and only use Hamilton it all washes out.  I also read that out of the 5, everything by the Bodyguard was excellent.   But I'm a weirdo and probably will like it.  Deborah Cox has an amazing voice.  She was in one of my top 5 fave musicals, Jekyll and hyde.

I told my mom to watch The Crown as I know she would like it and they have Netflix.

She text me back asking what time it's on.

Apparently after 6 months they haven't gotten the concept of how Netflix works yet.  LOL
That's the cutest.  I can see my mom doing the same thing.

  • @lyndausvi that made me giggle. So cute!

  • Yay I like this. (Edited because half of my post didn't stick).

    - 25 days until my nugget (niece) is here...and my sister too. We were Facetiming this week and she said "unca" for the first time. FI was so excited.
    - 35 days until we're in Mexico with fru fru drinks and sand.
    - 43 days until our wedding and HM are behind us and we can go back to normal and spend money on what we normall would instead of gold cake pans and programs.

We also got upgraded tickets to the Lions game this Sunday!
This was my favourite thing after wedding, then after saving for house lol
