4th of July Wedding

I am planning on getting married in Makena Cove, Maui and was thinking of doing it on 4th of July.  It is just us two so we thought it might be fun to partake of the 4th of July activities in Maui during the day and then going to a luau that night.  Since we are doing a short photoshoot after the morning wedding, I thought we could get really cute pictures on that day.  Plus, we got engaged on Halloween so I thought it would be cute to get married on another holiday.  What do you think?  Does it sound like a good idea or one that can backfire?

I don't see any problems either since it will only be the two of your.  Sounds pretty cool to get engaged on one holiday and married on another.  Fireworks on your anniversary!

    Ummm... here's my two cents.

I'm getting married on July 1 (July 4 was not available) and the travel costs are exorbitant! Had I known how much it would be for my guests to travel here, I would not have picked that date.  I would say that about 70% of the guests on my fiance's side are NOT coming, because it is so expensive.  Some of our friends and family have paid OVER $900 just to fly to Hawaii from California! Generally, you can get roundtrip airfare for less than half of that.

Hotel fees are high for that weekend too.  If you have a lot of people flying in from the mainland, I'd consider the travel costs.  Do a search on kayak or Hawaiian air and you can see how much the prices differ.

Other than that, a wedding on July 4 would be pretty cool.
