Re: New Years Resolutions/Goals?

  • @thefanciestbeckler  TTC is on my list sorta - but we're not 100% so I don't want it to be a goal.
Blog? Try WordPress :) If you do, we can swap blogs ;)

@ShesSoCold  ooh! Fancy recipes or just basic but different ways? Being comfortable in your own body is definitely a good goal :)
  • I love food and cooking, so that makes my goal of loosing 10lbs difficult, lol.

I also hate working out- like I get super, super pissed off at having to do it and I'm pissed off the entire time I'm at the gym or wherever because growing up and through college I had the metabolism of a hummingbird :*(

God, getting old sucks.  Being an adult sucks.

I'm with you @MissKittyDanger on organization too.

  • @MissKittyDanger one of my friends (who is a little more tech savvy than me) is helping me get one designed and set up! I think it will be WordPress. Either way, I'll PM you when it's ready and we can swap!

So much yes to bolded lol

I'm not big on working out, which is why I opted for yoga. I sit for my job and it sometimes makes my muscles stiff. I figured I'd get in shape as well ;)
  • @thefanciestbeckler  excellent! :) I'm using wordpress because M is helping me with layout, etc and hates blogspot lmao! I use to blog often, but stopped. Figured I'll start up again and hopefully it'll stick ;)
  • I make these stupid lists every year and by, like Jan. 3, I'm failing hard at all of it.  I don't know why I bother.  But here's mine anyway.

    1. Be more positive.
    2. Actually respond to emails and texts rather than ignore them for days.  (I don't know why I keep this on my list, I'm probably never going to change.)
    3. Run that marathon I keep saying I'm signing up for but never do "because reasons" when it probably has more to do with the fact that I'm afraid to do another one because the first one was all hills and I thought I might die.
    4. Write more.
    5. Get through 2017 without a) changing jobs again, b ) moving again, or c) other massive life altering event (no TTC in our immediate future).

    1) Stick to an actual budget so we can buy a newer, bigger house sooner rather than later
    2) Go on a kick ass vacation
    3) Actually train for the 200 mile relay race that I signed up to run with H and his family in August
    4) TTC

I am completely on board with number one, this is my new years resolution that I am trying to put into practice from now. I'm working on the premise that more positive things will happen if I have a more positive outlook. Or some crap like that.

My second resolution is to drink more wine to help with the stress headache I will undoubtedly get from smiling too much.

  • The usual keep eating clean 80% of the time, find me a boo, and keep enjoying life.

I do have a big goal for the end of 2017, but I'll wait a bit before I share.

My goal this year was to wear real pants more often. I'm still working on that for next year. I have low standards.
What do you consider fake pants? ;)

Same for being more positive. I figure if I can be more personally calm {via yoga and meditation} then I can be more positive.

Writing also same, but that's why I've decided to do a blog ;) just an idea

I can help! I have resources because of my job so I can help swing you in right direction if you want! :)

    Yoga pants/gym shorts.
  • They're cliche, but I'd like to lose some weight and get better at saving money.
  • For anyone looking for help with budgeting/saving money and/or just about anything having to do with finances, check out the "Money Matters" forum on The Nest.  I'm a regular poster over there also (same username).  It's a friendly group.  We primarily talk about finances, but are generally chatty as well.

I don't like to call these "resolutions", as they are items I am continually trying to improve on:

    • Follow up on some of my business ideas for extra income
    • Cook real meals at home more for better health and lower food costs. We actually do eat at home a lot, but its quick fix pre-packaged types of food, ie microwave burritos don't count, lol.
    • Get in an exercise routine for better health
    • Take better care of my health: check my blood sugar more often, extra effort with my gums
    • Clean up and organize my house!!!  Finally.
    • Cash out refi on one of my investment properties to pay down debt. This is the only goal that is a finite task.

Really, my number one goal should be help with motivation and battling procrastination.  If I had that magical power, anything else I want would fall into place.

I wrote that last bit "kind of" joking, but maybe I am looking at this all wrong.  That should be my first step.

Does anyone have any book recommendations on "finding motivation", for lack of a better phrase?  I've searched for books on "procrastination" in the past, but found them to be more about time management.  But my problem is with my attitude, not my time management.

  • 1. Stick to my budget. We would like to buy a house next year. I need my debt reduced before I am comfortable with home ownership.

    2. Try to workout 4 times a week. Right now I do three days but I would like to add another day in.

    3. Try not to be a bully. This goes on my list every year and I'm getting better but I still need to improve. I'm not mean but I can be forceful when I want things to go my way.

    1.  Run a 5k
    2.  Not be the house with the embarrassing yard on the block
    3.  Be a positive leader at work.  I sometimes am too comfortable because of my seniority (edited for better word choice) and forget I should lead by example, especially when it comes to people I don't like.
    4.  Read one new book a month. I love reading and have gotten away from it the past couple of years.
