Wedding Woes

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I'm going to be here all day, every day and burning the midnight oil for the next month or so.  Bring on the OT.  :)

Of course we came in to New Year's wonk at work since something got jacked in our system and we are being flooded with spam.  Finding legit client e-mails is like a needle in a haystack.  And my boss doesn't come back until tomorrow (and this system is his baby.  A baby he never, ever wanted...but it's his), so we just have a muddle through.

How was your New Year?  Ours was all right.  DH ended up being off work, so we went to a friend's house.   I played Cards Against Humanity and laughed my ass off.  I met their friends/neighbors and everyone was super nice.  DefConn was a party animal.  He was so hyped and it was really funny to watch him.  We went to Taco Bell after the party because half-pissed DH and the teenager demanded it.  We didn't go to bed until 3am.  Yesterday, we slept until noon (even DEFCONN!) and then made a very late brunch.  I ran to the store and took down Christmas.  DH puttered around outside with the kids (it was mid-40's and sunny).  We made a kick ass dinner of steak, potatoes, and green beans with bacon.

I'm dragging ass this morning since I went to bed late and haven't woken up before 8am since Christmas.

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

  • Sounds like a great weekend @mrsconn23!

We had a nice, quiet New Years. Watched the original Star Wars trilogy, ate WAY too much food, snuggled on the couch, and didn't realize it was midnight until we heard fireworks (which some crazy people in our neighborhood Facebook ground thought were gunshots. Seriously?! C'mon).

Yesterday was watching some terrible football and easing back into the work. Today I'm WFH and finally going to the Dr. because I can't shake this cough. Back to reality.
  • Happy New Year, everyone!  Today is my last day of break, so we are going to go for lunch and to see Rogue One.

  • Happy 2017!  We had a quiet NYE, mostly because I came down with a bad stomach bug and spent the weekend convalescing on the couch. The pups and I were all passed out by 930 (I made it longer this time!), and poor DH was all alone.  He passed the time by photo-documenting the evening and woke me up at midnight again.  He also surprised me by baking cookies to make me feel better.

DH is freaking out because sometime between September and this morning, Hiccup lost a tooth.  He's so afraid she'll end up like Toothless (who was down 17 teeth by age 7), it's both charming and infuriating.  Charming because he cares so much, infuriating because he's paranoid about it.  We think she lost it playing with Twiggy, but who knows?  Also, in Twiggy world, he's starting carrying his food bowl around the house near mealtimes.

Oh, and I smashed DH in our FFL, so bring on the Championship BCBC.

  • For New Years Eve we went to a restaurant downtown that offered a 5 course dinner with a drink pairing for each course. It was so good. And it's a restaurant we haven't tried yet so that was an extra bonus. Yesterday we had the Lions game and today my BFF and I are going shopping.

I am not not one to get the post vacation blues but I was so sad to leave Cancun I could have cried. And today I'm so sad to have to go back to work tomorrow. And I like my job!  I just really got used to this not working thing. And I want to travel the world.  Right now.

I'm the helicopter pet parent. I worry that any weird thing means they are terribly sick. After Charlotte's (my cat) surgery I'm really bad. I just don't want anything else bad to happen to them. H has to talk me down a lot.
  • Yesterday, we went out with my side of the family for dinner. H and I were 1 minute early arriving and all the other people had arrived super early and were up at the salad bar and had ordered their main courses. I felt like we had arrived late! I was annoyed but got over it.

H has been in a super bad mood re: work. He apologized to me after dinner which was nice because it has been like walking on eggshells for a while.

Today is about relaxation and perhaps going for a walk. Depends on the weather as it was -30celcius with the wind chill earlier this morning. Brrr!

  • ugh, in the realm of helicopter pet-parents...
The Mr.and I made sure we had meds for the holidays (because it's easy to screw that up), but somehow managed NOT to have enough pain meds for the Dawgus.  She got her last pain pill last night...and her vet is closed today.
And regardless, even w/ pain pills, she's doing really poorly about walking around this week.  None of this is positive, but there's not much to do about it until the vet opens tomorrow--and not to much to do then either.  I'm pretending this doesn't have me worried about the big picture.

I'm busily refusing to take down Christmas, because it's not the 6th yet :)

Last day of vacation for all of us, so we're vegging with the pets, and doing some nothing
  • Happy New Year WW!

We went to a friend of mine's wedding yesterday afternoon, then came home and watched the Sherlock Series 4 premiere. All I can say is "WTH?"

Today we're taking Moose to the dog park and picking up food and litter, then I'm going to do laundry and get back to reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

  • Happy New Year, everyone!

NYE was good for me. I got groceries and ran a bunch of errands. Came home and made a delicious miso soup for dinner. DH called me at about 9 that night saying he was coming home due to bad weather moving in for the next few days. He got home right around 11:30. We rang in the new year watching Bar Rescue and snuggling with Rayna and Jackie (the pups) on the couch.

Yesterday we got up late and I made eggs, bacon, and spaghetti squash "hashbrowns" for breakfast. So delicious. We spent the rest of the day firmly planted on the couch in our PJ's with the pups. We only took a break from being lazy for a few minutes and to take the tree down. We watched football and Pawn Stars all day long and ordered pizza for dinner.

Today we slept in again and went out for breakfast. Then I went and got the massage DH bought me for Christmas. It. Was. Heavenly. The therapist said "yeah, you have some pretty intense knots going on". Lol, trust me, I know. My shoulders hold up DDD's all day long, what do you expect?

DH just left to go back to Atlanta. I'm spending the rest of the day watching TV. Tonight is the premiere of The Bachelor, and I'm pumped. Don't judge.

Definitely not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow. I applied for probably 10+ jobs online this weekend. I'm really hoping and praying something comes through soon.

  • aaannd the dog tries to nip anyone who touches her front right paw. (her 'bad' paws are the rear 2.)
    So, she's down 3.
This one doesn't seem like it'll help to get to the e-vet, her vet should be open tomorrow.
I am going to pretend to the kiddo that this is a non problem for now

  • Oh no, @GBCK! Sending healing vibes for your pup!
  • Happy New Year!!!!

Today is my Friday.  Thank God.  I'm spent.   My average daily steps last week was just shy of 24,000 steps.    Oddly, my legs do not hurt.   But I'm general tired.

Right now I'm drinking wine, trying to figure out what to eat.  Tomorrow, not a damn thing.  Okay, most likely take down the xmas decorations.  Maybe a date night with DH.    But that is all up in the air. If I want to sleep all day, I will.

Hope everyone had a great long weekend.

  • Happy New Year, WW.  May 2017 be a fantastic year for all of us.

My H is an "early to bed" guy, so I always have a boring NYE sitting on the couch with the puppers watching tv.  I at least "protected" her from the sound of fireworks, lol.

I know I'm a day late, but I just read this, and I could have sworn it said New Year's WANK. I had to reread it several times.

I guess that's one way to celebrate.
