18 days out and I am changing my venue XP w/ month board

Ok I am crazy.

I think I posted earlier about how my venue coordinator has been MIA and failed to tell me about food tasting and other things.  Well yesterday I got to my boiling point and I think I am going to book a different venue entirely.

While we were at the food tasting (finally) I mentioned the ceremony to confirm that we would be doing theater seating for the ceremony and the venue staff would reset the room for the reception during the cocktail hour.  This was confirmed back in Oct '10 when we booked the venue.  WELL, she told me she would have to look back in her notes because she did not remember this.

I got a phone message from her last night that there would be no way to have seating for 150people and the most she could do would be 60 with the rest standing.  OR we could have everyone sit in their places for the dinner but a big handful of people will not even be able to see due to the layout of the room.

Now Like a naive bride I accepted the fact that there was not a written contract signed by either myself or the venue and I realize that is my fault. She swears up and down that we never agreed to this so I for sure have to find a new venue for the Ceremony.

While I was freaking out today about this and emailing other venue options I came across a place that is within walking distance to the hotel block and the possible new ceremony site that is available on my day!

My MIL and I are meeting with both the new ceremony and hopefully new reception site tomorrow night.  I am so ready for surrender our $250 deposit (all we have paid so far) to say screw it and go with a new place.

I AM CRAZY!  Only 18 days and I am pregnant and I am re-planning my wedding... UGH!!!

Wish me luck ladies!

Awe I am so sorry to hear this! If you don't mind sharing, which venue is it that is giving you such a hard time??

Also I am sure the change won't be too terribly hard because you most likely have all of the other details down, it will just be another few meetings with this new location to get final details set. Just breathe and I am sure you will have a beautiful day no matter what.

That soudnds insane, but if it all will work out and make you less stressed on the day of, then definitely go for it.  Sending good wishes your way that things work out for the best.  Just don't forget to tell all your other vendors about the change in location if you do end up changing.  I'm guessing you've already sent out invites, so you will want to send out corrections to your invites to everyone.

Btw, congrats on being preggo!  Also congrats on it being new enough that you won't be showing on the wedding day.

We decided to not go with Dahlgreen either......We just went on a random night to have some food and drink, and they weren't good- at all. Also we just couldn't ignore that strong barn smell outside, lol. I too am willing to forfeit the $250 deposit. You just helped me dodge a huge bullet.

I hope you find a new venue in time and congrats on your pregnancy :-)

ETA: If you don't mind me asking, what ceremony/reception venue(s) did you switch to?

If it is only going to cost you $250, I say go for it! It sounds like your new venue is going to fit your needs better.

I booked the new venue tonight!  Like SSaltzman said I was booked with Dahlgreen golf Club.   I will admit that the lady was trying today to make it work but the most people she got to have seats was just 105 so still 45+ people standing.

I decided to go with the Grand Palm Event center.  Brian was wonderful tonight and he really knew what he was talking about.  And it will be cheaper than Dahlgreen too so that is wonderful.

They will set up the area for the ceremony (half the room will be preset for the reception) but, they will put up draping to block that off during the ceremony so I am thrilled about that.  Also it is not an extra charge.  And it is within walking distance to the hotel most our guests are staying at.

I will be ordering a postcard thru vistaprint tonight for free and paying for the express shipping and send them out asap along with phone calls.

  • I too have had a bit of issues, but already issued a check to pay for the reception ( we need to get the money out sooner than later) and I am now worried. Did you notice a smell there all year long?
