Wedding Woes

Introduction

I got married a few months ago, and mostly lurked the E board for all the good advice.  I think I posted a couple times when I wasn't no sure what to do with a couple of situations that arose.

Anyways, after I got married I deleted my account because I didn't think I'd use it, and quite frankly had had enough of wedding stuff.  Then... I discovered Prudie posts on Wedding Woes.  Lately I've been really wanting to join in the conversation, but thought it might be weird if I didn't introduce myself first.

I'm 28, originally from Canada, and met DH while working in Holland as an au pair 5 years ago.  DH is a lawyer, and I'm finishing my MA thesis in women and gender studies.  We have a dog (who is a bit of a bastard sometimes....) and a cat.

    Welcome :)

Edited because I should have said more.. I'm 28 and live in the glorious area of the US known as Southeast Tennessee (seriously, it is beautiful here). My H and I have been married for almost 1 1/2 years. He is an aerial survey pilot and travels for months at a time, and I work in the mortgage industry. I'm going back to finish my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy in the next couple of months. We have 2 dogs, Rayna and Jackie, and as you'll see, I have lots of work drama that I love to share with the class.

  • Hi @DrJones, welcome!  If you've lurked on this board, you'll see we are more a fun little internet group that focuses on general stuff, our daily lives, and the ever popular Prudie Thursdays ;).  Not so much weddings, though we are happy to answer those posts that come along also.

I'm 43, in NOLA, but originally from So. CA.  I met my H out here, but he is originally from OR.  We've been together 17 years, but just got married less than 4 years ago (he was a little gun shy).  I do project/admin support type of stuff and have a BS in Business Admin.  My H majored in math and is a computer guru, though he's been unemployed for awhile.  We also invest in real estate.  We have a dog and a cat (though the cat is the one who is a bit of a bastard sometimes, lol).  But she just wouldn't be her cute kitty self, if she wasn't a bit of an imp sometimes.

Congrats on coming to the end of your MA thesis.  I hope to see you jumping in on the Prudie discussions this week!

  • Welcome! I'm also Canadian - not a lot of us on the boards, but there are a few you'll come to notice often.

Many people lurk and then start posting because of Prudie - then stay because this is a great board :)

I'm 29, married 1.5 yrs and been with my husband {I refer to him as M here} for almost 6yrs :) We have 2 cats, just bought a house and you'll see that M and I are potentially TTC later this year :)
Which means, this board is also a font of wonderful advise to new moms since many of these ladies have kids of varying ages
  • Hello, Dr. J

Welcome! It's always nice to have new blood.

  • Welcome!

Im 31, recently relocated to Toledo, OH. I'm a college professor in political science. My H is also a professor, we met in grad school and got married in May 2015. We have one cat (Charlotte) and one dog (Charlie) both rescues.
  • Welcome DrJones!  Like many others on this board I am already married. (August of 2014).  My DH and I met back on Long Island were we were both born and raised.  We moved out to the central PA region about 6.5 years ago and bought our first home about 1.25 years ago.  We have two kitties (almost 5 and 4) named Cumulus (a 16lb gray and white tabby) and Butters (a 9lb orange tabby).  I dream of the day I can go adopt our puppy, but I know it will require a change in schedules or living arrangements as we are both gone from home for 10 hours a day during the week.

Welcome! I am 36 and live in the Boston area. H and I have been married 2 years (October 2014) and we met working at a pool the summer before my senior year of HS. He was my prom date. We have a rescue puppy and are having a baby in August!
  • Welcome!

I'm 29, married last spring, no kids.  I got my PhD the year DH and I met (which wasn't through school), haven't used it since, but my job is more or less related to my degree.  We have two rescued dogs named Twiggy and Hiccup, and we can't decide if they love or simply tolerate one another.  I hoard books.

    Welcome!

I'll be 42 at the end of the month. I live in Cleveland, Ohio with my FW, one of our best friends, a dog, and three cats (hence my screenname). FW and I met in a 12-Step fellowship, and we've been together almost three years. I'm a legal secretary for a local government agency, and she is an Army veteran and full-time student working on a BA in communications. Like @AtomicBlonde, I also hoard books. I like to make gratuitous puns.
  • Welcome!  I am 35 and will be married 5 years in March.  We our also expecting our first baby, a girl, in March too!  I have one fur baby named Olive Oil, hence the screen name!

I was a lurking lurker who lurked on this board for a long while, WW has always had a core group of people even when I joined the site!  I loved to read the posts from the specul snowflakes when the regs would tell them they were wrong and they would dig their heels in!  The best!  I started posting on posts here including the Prudie ones and eventually I just jumped into the daily posting too.

  • My first thought was "Holland Michigan?  we need more locals!"
But Holland, Holland is probably more exciting :)

    Hi!

  • Oh, also, hello!  And welcome.  Nice to see a new face.  Come on in, make yourself at home.
  • Hi!  I was here years ago and recently came back when I got engaged.  I am 31 and live in the fabulous Midwest.  I am a lawyer and FI is finishing law school this spring.  We have 4 dogs and we also foster dogs for a rescue (right now we have two foster dogs - one is awesome and one is a shitbag.  Shitbag is getting adopted Saturday woohoo)!
