Princess Cruise Wedding - Vows at Sea

Has anyone done this before and have any suggestions or recommendations?

The cruise is a 4 day cruise in the Caribbean with about 50 people invited. Since my budget is about $10k and my FI wants a nice room, I was just planning on doing a reception dinner at one of the nice restaurants with a cake there and maybe going a club or something afterwards.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome!!   I'm not sure that you can do your vows at sea, particularly if you are looking to be legally married, I believe you need to be on land.

We have a couple of cruise brides that I'm sure will chime in with their thoughts who will know way more than I do and can help you better :-)

When are you planning to cruise/get married?

  • Princess is one of the few cruise lines on which you can legally get married at sea. I checked on that one already :) Either way, we were thinking of going to the courhouse to legally get married a few days before the cruise and then just have the ceremony on board. That saves almost $500.

We're planning a March 2014 wedding since the cruises are fairly booked until the beginning of 2014. And it gives our guests a little more time to get off from work and save up for the trip.

  • I am a cruise bride  but I am getting married in port on day 2, not at sea. It was just a personal preference thing, we wanted a beach and a cruise was the cheapest way for our guests to do it.

Our guest list is teeeeny teeny tiny so we're just buying everyone lunch in port after, doing dinner all together once we're back on the boat at night, and then I'm sure the younger crowd may hit up the nightclub on board.

Let us know how you're planning goes! I love hearing cruise planning!
  • Oh that's awesome!!  I think getting married at sea is a very cool idea but was always under the impression that it wouldn't be possible for legal reasons.

I second what Brittany said, we love hearing about all plans :-)

  • I am also a cruise bride! We are going on a 5 day cruise to the Caribbean but we are getting married on Day 3 in the Cayman Islands. We are planning a quick ceremony on the beach and then a lunch reception probably with around 25 people and that looks like it will be around $4000. It was really expensive to get married on the cruise ship and that is why we opted for land, plus we wanted the whole beach thing! I'm sure you can swing it with 10k, you just have to do some price checking! Good Luck!!!
  • So far in my planning, the whole wedding and reception, invites, dress, all that stuff, is right at $9,000; but with potential airfare (we're flying from DC to FL for the cruise and then to Wisconsin to see his family and finally back home), the nice room that FH wants, alcohol, couple's massage, and the excursion, the total for absolutely everything is about $13,500. Which still isn't too bad all things considered.
