shoes, because why not?

i got an e-mail from Nordstrom that advertised "sandals sure to stand out"

ok then, i like funky shoes, let's see...

so i find not one, but 2 manufacturers linked to almost exactly the same sandal:

and this: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/chinese-laundry-posh-embellished-lace-up-sandal-women/4335778?origin=category-personalizedsort&fashioncolor=COGNAC LEATHER

both of which appear to be the sandal equivalent of Beyonce's craft store disaster photo shoot.

i think they're fugly - but would any of you guys buy/wear these? retail is $70 for top, and $60 for the bottom.

I was about to post when i saw the "high end" version of these. I find these slightly less offensive to look at, but the $295 price tag probably makes them worst overall:

  • The $295 pair also looks cheaply made, especially at that price point - the leather looks to be roughly cut/unfinished, and the embellishment leaves something to be desired.

I'm probably overly invested in this.

  • Apart from the utter impracticality (Mutt would shred them in five minutes), I wouldn't buy them. They look like someone brought moonshine to arts and crafts day.
  • Apparently it's a thing because here's the DSW as in my Facebook feed this morning.
  • I'm thinking if the pompoms weren't there, I might like them. But I'm not a gladiator sandal type person.

    This is my style of shoe {in varying colours lol}

  • I really want to glue fuzzballs to sandals and sell them for $$$ now.  DH has been trying to get me to open an Etsy shop and sell some of my crafts (read: wedding shit) anyway.

You charged your phone since yesterday, lol :).

NO!  No pom-poms on shoes or sandals.  Though I like the coral/light blue wedge sandals.

  • @MissKittyDanger those are cute.
I like the wedge and the color variation. I have a similar-ish pair of heels.

  • Those are cute!!! I have a low arch, so I need like...athletic sneakers.  LOL.  I actually have a good pair of sparkle flip flops that I can wear outside of work, but for work, always sneakers.

  • @*Barbie* can you just post all your shoes so I know what to steal ;)
  • haha, that would take forever. i need to do a massive closet overhaul and get more shoe storage. I can think of at least 6 different rooms in my house, plus my car where i have shoes stored. i may need to annex DK's closet.

ha - this actually sounds like fun. i'm going to put one pair in there each day, and see how long it takes him to notice.
  • I had a former coworker with a big, plastic storage tub in her office.  Filled with dozens of cute heels.  This was her MO.  She'd wear her cute shoes to the office.  By lunch time her feet were hurting, so she'd switch to flip flops and wear those for the rest of the day.  Throwing her heels in that tub.  Then, when she was running out of her heels.  She'd take the plastic tub home.  Bring it back empty.  And the process started over.  She always "meant" to switch her flip flops back out for her shoes before she went home, she just rarely actually did that, lol.

FTR, flip flops were not allowed in our office, except on Fridays.  The manager for our department and her (she was the asst. manager) wore flip flops ALL the time.  Nobody else in our department did.  Yet, you could count on the "flip flop" issue being mentioned in at least every other weekly department meeting.  The manager would say something like, "Ladies, I know we've had this discussion before.  But you have to stop wearing flip flops, except on Fridays.  I know I'm guilty of this too and I'll work on it also!  However, we're getting complaints from the higher ups."  SMH.

  • I CANNOT WITH THE TINY PUFF BALLS ON SANDALS!  WTELMF?!

I saw a similar style at Target last week and I was all sorts of, "What the what?!" about it.  Hard, HARD pass.  And I will make fun of anyone I see wearing them.

To be fair, @*Barbie*'s description of the Nordstrom ad was "sandals sure to stand out".  That HAS been achieved!  Though I suspect Nordstrom's meant they would stand out in a good way.  Oh, no, no, no.  They are definitely standing out in a bad way, lol.

Your co-worker's plastic tub is my car. Unless i'm wearing flats, sneakers, or sandals, I usually wear flip flops to drive, and put on my heels when i get to the location. When i go home, i swap back into the flip flops, and a lot of times leave the shoes in my car. I'll do a massive overhaul every couple of months (especially if we're travelling or have a bigger shipping trip and need the car space) to get the shoes out of my car. This has actually led to a few questionable shoe choices for work when I forgot that I had cleaned out my car and the pair i wanted was still at home. It turns into a question of wear the flip flops (which are "nice" but not exactly work attire) or wear shoes that don't quite coordinate with my outfit.
