October 2017 Weddings

In-Country Destination Wedding

My wedding date is October 14, 2017 and will in Southern California. 90% of our guests will have to travel as they all live in other states (mid-west, pacific northwest, etc.). Everything is pretty much done and booked (venue, food, flowers, dj, photog, hotels). I'm currently working on my invitations and wanted some feedback.

Our RSVP deadline is mid-September. Although there is the 6-8 weeks prior standard, I am looking to begin mailing them out in June. I would like to consider the fact that guests need time to save and book travel arrangements. What are your opinions? Is June too soon?

Looking forward to your thoughts! Thank you in advanced!
Best;
Shelby S

Re: In-Country Destination Wedding

  • We are getting married on 10/27, our plan is to mail out invites in July - we are the same that close to 80% if not more of our invited guests have to travel in.  Have you sent out STD's yet?  That should be sufficient for folks to start planning their trip out.  Plus if you have a wedding website with all of the hotel blocking information then folks can start booking in advance.  If they received a STD then they know they are getting an invite and may not wait until they receive the invite to start planning their trip.  I think you are fine sending them out in June.

    I have already gotten flight confirmation from some close friends, BEFORE my STD's went out.  Our STD's went out a week or so ago.
  • This was very helpful. Thank you. We have sent out STD and have been active with a website to help guests with accommodations.

    Good luck with your planning and congratulations!
