DIY Christian Wedding

Hi ladies,
I need some good DIY ideas for christian weddings. My FI and I really want God to be the very center of our wedding day. He is the reason we are together and we want to honor Him in every way we can. Thanks!

The biggest thing we DIYed was our paper (invitations, programs and place cards) ... I figured it would be a good thing to do becase I am graphic designer of sorts and it ended up costing us about half of what it would have cost if we bought them or had someone else design them.

Then we bought the vases for our floating orchid centerpieces individually with 40% coupons from JoAnn Fabrics so that ended up being cheaper than renting them, and we gave the centerpieces away at the end of the night to whoever wanted them.

We also bought bulk candy and put them in favor boxes ourselves.

Do you want ideas for the ceremony or for the reception? What have you planned/decided on already?

There's lots of girls on here who are married already and can offer lots of ideas and advice.

I/we DIYed our invitations, reception decorations (vases, candles, etc.), church decorations (lace balls),ceremony programs, favour tags, guest book and guest book directions...

My only caution with DIY is to make sure you don't end up spending more doing it yourself.  I did save the dates on my own, but because of various unforseen problems, they ended up being more expensive than imagined.  But many women make it work.

We DIY our save the dates, invites, centerpieces, favors, programs, and church decorations. It saved us a ton of money, and was fun to work on with DH. :)

Our wedding is very heavily DIY, and for me its not even just about saving money, its more about having that personal touch on things :)

Things I've DIY'd already/am DIY'ing: Save the Dates, Invitations, Place Cards, Table Numbers, Centrepieces, Menus, Programs, Bouquets (silk flowers), Aisle/Altar flowers, Aisle runner, Flower girl baskets, Flower girl headbands, Corsages/Bouts, Cardbox, Memorial candles, Pomanders, Decorations for cake table/guestbook table, Crayons/Colouring books for kids at the reception, etc....

EVerything is in my Bio in my signature :) If you have any questions about anything, feel free to ask!

I DIY'd everything that I could.  We did our own STD's, invitations, addressing invites,  programs, pew decor, vintage chalkboards for pointing the way to the ceremony and reception and the menu, favors (homemade jam and labels), escort tags.  We were going to DIY centerpieces and bouquets but I didn't think I would have enough time to do all that.....
If you are printing a lot ; you can put scripture important to you on it all.  My advice is really plan ahead and give yourself enough time to get everything done- make sure you have your ceremony order , songs, etc... down (no last min. changes) so you can print programs ahead of time.  Enlist help; my parents were WONDERFUL in helping me make and bottle jam and put labels on everything- if someone offers to help say yes!  And look for sales: hobby lobby often had half off sales on the things I needed.  It really helped to get materials half off instead of full price.
