Wedding Woes

Thursday

What's up?

I think we're getting rain for the first time in awhile later today.

I'm glad the week is almost over.  I have to work Saturday, but I don't mind it once a month.  The day usually goes pretty quickly and I'm more productive than I am during the week.

I hope next week is better.  This has been a long one for a lot of reasons and PMS is kicking my ass.

Prudie day!! :D

Re: Thursday

  • SSDD here!  Last night I went shopping for a dress to wear Friday, instead I bought a really great and overpriced Free People tunic, an amazingly comfortable duster sweater with a hood (yay fall's coming!), a really cute cold shoulder shirt (I'm looking at you @short+sassy haha) and a bunch of really cute one off jewelry pieces.  I'm sure I have something here I don't hate, yeah right.  I may hit up Target for a new serious pair of spanx and see if I can pull off my black jumpsuit if I find a way to hide all my junk.

@mrsconn23  I have to work Saturday too, but it's going to be a bitch!  We have this thing called the Dream Cruise every year, it's the largest classic car cruise in the world, like people seriously ship their cars here from overseas.  Well, I'm working an all day party for clients with unrealistic expectations.  Yay me.  I'll take any hangover tips if anyone has them.  37 is not as easy as 27, and I can't guarantee I won't get drunk with my fam.

  • @mrsconn23  I admire your ability to work at home. I couldn't. I'd get distracted by stuff lol

I attacked some of the backyard last night. My tiny garden needs handling, so I put on my gloves and pulled up some weeds {we need to weed whack again}, flipped some soil at the base of my bleeding hearts and took away some dead branches and leaves.
Safe to say that it's done for the year. The weather has not been very good for it. If it doesn't rain on Friday, I'll need to water it.
I think I'm also going to try and get some of the weeds in the front gone and move the rocks. I kind of want something bright there, so next year I'll be looking at big, shady, flowering things. Lol!

Stopped by M's parents last night. M mentioned what his dad was being like and his mum wasn't surprised, but she's glad he's continuing without his dad's help - given how M knows it'll be. Saves arguments later.
We went because M had to measure their vehicles because he needs to get plywood this weekend for the top of the work bench, and our Escape {or escapeh as I call it and M hates lol} isn't long or wide enough. Like he could make it work, but he wanted to see if theirs was bigger so he didn't have to.

Actually M is pretty excited, for the wedding we're going to at the end of September, he's been invited from one of the family members {it's his stepdad's family fyi} to go trap shooting. Obviously M said yes. He's stoked. Idk what I'll do while he's gone. Maybe I'll wander the area? We'll see.
  • @kimmiinthemitten  Cold shoulder tops are so cute! Also sounds like those things could be worn now or the fall :)
  • Painters are here today so last we moved the furniture in our bedroom. We slept in the guest room so my routine was totally messed with this morning! Now I'm here all day while they paint. No big deal because I have plenty to do around the house. @mrsconn23 I hope it rains soon because this humidity is oppressive!

    Yay Prudie day!

SSDD. Work today and tomorrow and then Sunday. I finally cleaned out my car so Saturday will be organizing all the crap I brought into the house from the car. I feel pretty accomplished for someone who just moved stuff from one place to another.

I'm so glad I have a vacation to look forward to. Two more weeks!

Eta: @kimmiinthemitten I always try to keep a 2:1 ratio of water to alcohol. If I can I drink a little Gatorade before bed and take sublingual B12 in the morning. Whenever I don't drink the water the hangover the next day is awful. SOs sister and her bf swear by this drink called the Magic Bullet. It's shaped like a big bullet with an orange top (honestly it looks like a penis to me). But they swear by it. Basically it's just a bunch of electrolytes and B vitamins.

  • SSDD here.  I was exhausted yesterday and didn't meet my step requirements for the first time (since getting my fitbit on Friday LOL).  I had a doctors appt in the morning and a pointless support group right after work.  Came home, made amazing stuffed peppers with my farmer's market meat and peppers and just crashed.

I do hope it rains today because I'm supposedly getting my sugar free chocolates delivered today and I can't wait and I'd hate for them to sit in the sun all day. lol.  Reviews say they're good!

I'm kinda irked at my dr's office.  I asked to scheudle a pap and bariatric clearance from my general practitioner and I was told it was one or the other.  All I need is a letter from her for clearance on surgery and that I can exercise after.  If it's all about taking my vitals (since all labs and tests are done already) and she has to do it for the pap anyway, why can't she do both in the time allotted?  Paps don't take the full 1/2 hour.   I have a feeling its a ploy to get two insurance claims/two co-pays from me.   I asked what was needed for the letter, but of course, they haven't gotten back to me and I tried to google this but nothing came up (it's all through a web based communication system).  Does anyone know what the dr needs to do in order to write this letter?  I think it's insane to make two apts when it can be done in one.  My last doctor would take two issues on in one apt!

  • @misskitty I do too...but it's also the first summer that I could comfortably wear a strapless bra all day so I'm taking advantage of all the sleeveless/spaghetti straps I can.

@levioosa Thanks! I'll keep my eye out for that penis drank;).

  • Good morning WW!!

it has been quite a week.
Our guests arrived Monday morning and we usually only see them for morning coffee, lol. They are the daughters (23 & 26) of the lady who's birthday we are celebrating and they are very sweet. Tuesday we went to a wine tasting in a cool underground cave/wine cellar. Wednesday, I spent all day at the pool and then had my lesson. Today I wasted a lot of time waiting around for everyone else to be ready but! DH bought me a Fantastic, real, backpacking backpack (for a different bucket list hike I want to do) and it arrived today! Just in time for me to pack! :) I can't wait to get it a little dirty.

Nail appointment in a bit then I will finish packing, shower, fuck DH and try to get some sleep because Tomorrow I fly to Greece! :):):)
  • I was so busy at work yesterday!  I stopped in a few times and lurked, but didn't really have much time to talk!  Last night we went out to dinner and DD started to make a little fuss at the end.  So I wait for the check while H takes her outside.  She stops almost as soon as H has her outside.  I think she was not happy with her placement at the table.  She was sorta below the table in their carrier basket.  If she is more our height, she is good.

Today is the Jimmy Buffett concert!  My H will bring my niece to my place of employment around 5 and then we will head right into Camden for the show.  I have friends who will be tailgating already, so we will most likely have to go walking to find their parking lot.  There are so many lots and they fill up early, so then they open the next lot, etc, etc.  I brought 2 beers for myself.  I haven't had 2 beers in over a year - its going to be a crazy night! LOL!

  • Another busy day at work, doing hateful stuff.  Like all the backlogged filing and scanning for a different department (Doc Control).

Speaking of, I worked in that department briefly and did not care for the manager and I wasn't very busy.  Thankfully, I got moved back to a previous department I was in when someone left.

But sometimes when I'm slow, I step in to help DC.  That was a history to explain the latest irritation I have with that supervisor.  So I'm scanning really old job books.  I asked her, on timesheet day, "What should I charge this time to?"  She told me it was going to be a special, temporary code and she would get it to me when she had it.

So I just charged my time to a different project and figured I'd amend my timesheet when I got the correct charge code.  This morning, she comes to me and asked what I charged that time to.  I told her.  Apparently I "guessed" the wrong project and it should have gone to a more recent, but still incorrect project.  And once a timesheet is turned in, project work can't be amended.  Ummm...okay.  Not at any other job I've ever had, but whatever.

For the cherry on top.  I swear I cannot make this stuff up, lol.  She actually said to me at the end of our conversation, "Well, next time, if you're not sure where to charge something, ask!"  Oh, you mean like I did (I didn't say that).  I guess I was supposed to be extra super, duper, duper specific and have said, "I am literally charging to my timesheet, RIGHT NOW.  Now, now, now.  So what should I charge to NOW."  How silly of me to have just assumed that was understood.

I don't know if this is true in Canada, but notaries often have their own businesses and aren't necessarily just in lawyer's offices.  There are also a number of mobile notaries.

I don't know if this would be allowed at your work, but I would try to hook up an agreement with a nearby notary's office.  A $5 referral fee for anyone you send over there.  Then, if someone calls looking for a notary, you can say something like, "We don't have notaries available at this office, but Ms. XYZ is a notary nearby and her number is 123-4567."  More often than not, if they go there, it would be a natural conservation starter to mention, "I got your name from Random Ottawa Agency and need to get DEF docs notarized."

She sounds like someone I work with!  I'll ask a question (you can't reach her by phone.  She's way to 'busy' to talk to you), wait, not get a response and do what I think it is and THEN get a response the next day.  IF I'm lucky.

Answer your emails (if you read them, that is)!

I'm not 100% sure, but I know lawyers can notarize things. I've never needed it in anything except legal situations {which aren't common for me.

Quick google search .... yup we have a notary public!
  • @kimmiinthemitten I always go the Gatorade/Powerade.  Hydration and electrolytes tend to help me the fastest.

    @missJeanLouise Have a great trip

@OliveOilsMom Enjoy the concert.  Good thing tomorrow is Friday if you'r having a crazy night tonight.

Yoda had another private dog training session last night.  He has a problem with other dogs while on walks.  He loves them all - too much and wants to be bet friends with all the other doggies.  Whining, crying, barking, each pulling, etc.

Anyway, we tried something different and the trainer took us to an off-leash dog park an put him on a 30ft lead, so he couldn't pull on the leash.  Lots of clicker and treats when he saw other dogs, but he was so much better and even got to meet close to 10 other dogs as reward.  By the end he wasn't even barking when new dogs came by.  She thinks he barks as his way of trying to get the other dog's attention, so they'll come visit him

Today is going out to get him a different harness, a 30ft leash and another dog park visit to see if we can keep working on this progress.

So cute, though!  But I hear you.  Our dog is also really social and wants nothing better than to play, chase, and jump around with other puppers.  She likes all animals, but other dogs are her favorite.  She's usually pretty good but, sometimes, she gets TOO excited and can make the "BFF dog of the moment" nervous.

She (Izzy) was so sweet with our cat (Nip) last night!  She was chasing her, which the cat is usually none too pleased about but puts up with it.  There is a space in our house from one room to another where we can't put a door, but hang a blanket during the summer and winter to conserve temps.

Nip runs up to the blanket.  But has to pause to navigate through it.  Izzy, who was hot on her trail, totally stopped when Nip did.  Waited for her to finish going through the blanket.  And then started chasing her again, lmao.  Those two just crack me up all the time.

  • Huzzah, it's Prudie Day!

FW is definitely canceling her trip to Portland and coming home on Saturday. Not sure what time yet. Fingers crossed that it's not a red-eye!

@CharmedPam, that is a major PITA. I'm seriously considering bariatric surgery too, and I'm not looking forward to dealing with doctors about that along with my mental health and normal issues.

@MissKittyDanger, I think some banks have notaries too (at least here in the U.S.).

Nice productive day at work. Just the right balance of busy and calm. I had a few days where things were so slow that I ended up scanning old paper files. It's a royal pain because attorneys keep *everything*, often multiple copies. They even keep envelopes, I kid you not.

Meditation meeting tonight, and I have leftover pasta with meatless crumbles in the fridge to look forward to.

I've attended a bunch of Buffet concerts in Camden.  I always took a half-day and then then next day off!    Have fun.

My mom contacted us yesterday. They put her back in the hospital and she should have surgery early next week (for the diverticulitis).   I feel so bad for her.  She just can't catch a break.

Today's member hike was cancelled, so I will end up having 2 days off in a row.  Yay!

This morning I did a 4 mile walk and ran some errands.   I plan on just relaxing and taking a nap.  Then going to pick up a friend around 9pm to drive 3 hours to the trailhead for our hike tomorrow.    4 summits - one day.   Wish me luck.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

There are SO many appointments.  Totally get it though.  The only thing that could stand in the way is my diabetes (my numbers are high even though I don't have any side effects of them).  And this one doctor who seems to stand in my way of everything!

  • @OurWildKingdom  I think it depends on the bank here. Typically when we bring things into the bank, it's already been notarized.

I always laugh because people think we're a lawyers office and we're not :)

@kimmiinthemitten Original AlkaSeltzer and one benadryl (if feeling nauseous).

I'm irritated at work.  We have a branch office and I've now had 3 of their files transferred to me.  Hot mess doesn't begin to describe the condition of these files and it's infuriating.  I just spent an hour on one file basically cleaning up their messes.  Important information not recorded, no files named property (every single document is named the client's name, how in the everloving hell do you find ANYTHING), documents impossible to find, documents duplicated....what are you actually doing?!?!

K leaves for a burlesque bootcamp for male/masculine identifying performers tomorrow.  I'm super excited for her.  I'll be staying home, so I'll miss her.  But I'm really excited for her to get to explore this side of her performance.  I'm going to try and get the apartment finally all finished so that she can come home to candles, a bubble bath, and wine and a happy-to-see-her GF.

    Other than these things, SSDD.
    How thoughtful and sweet :)

Yay new doggie friends!  Neither our cat or dog pay any attention to the TV.  The only time it occasionally happens is if a similar animal on tv is making noise.  So our cat will look up if a lion or other big cat is roaring.  Or if a domesticated cat is mewing.  But ignores all other animal noises.  Our dog will look up if a wolf howls or domesticated dog barks/make noise.  But also ignores all other animal noises, lol.

I especially find the cat fascinating with that.  At least to me, a roaring lion doesn't sound anything like a pet cat.  Yet, she recognizes that sound as coming from a fellow member of her "cat brethren".

That sounds cute! My dog can't be bothered with TV.  He's to busy barking at the door.  The door NO ONE is at.  Sometimes at like midnight for not reason. weirdo.
