What a lovely idea! I don't know how many mothers you anticipate will attend the reception. But you could recognize them by announcing their names and/or handing out a flower or nosegay or other small token at the wedding. Or if you wanted to keep it low key you could leave some kind of token at their seat.

    Or supply babysitters lol :)

  •  I would just add a word of caution that Mother's Day can bring up a lot of emotions for people who are having difficulty conceiving;  who have lost a child; who did not have a positive relationship with their mother whether it be from abuse, neglect, etc,; who have given up a child through adoption - or who are going through the adoption process; mothers who do not have a relationship with their children; etc.

I understand your intentions, but you might want to consider those for whom mother's day is not a happy reminder .... as well as those men/women who fill the mothering roles in the lives of non-biological children and adults.
  • a little tin boot with flowers that you guys picked yourself and a lil thank you note written on the bottom of the boot. You guys could hand them out yourselves during the reception. or have them already on the table so each mom gets one
