Wedding Woes

Tuesday

What's up?!

I leave in 2 hours to go get cavities filled.  Womp, womp.  :/

Other than that, SSDD.

Re: Tuesday

Super annoyed at work. My nonprofit job has been saying for weeks now that I set my schedule, I don't have to ask to leave/can come and go as I want. Yesterday first day of class (the job I cleared with them before accepting the position) I leave, teach (class is midday), and work on nonprofit stuff from my university office until 6pm.

Come in this morning and my supervisor asks/expects that I'm coming back to the nonprofit after class. I teach 3 days a week, offices are ~25-30 minute drive apart. And my nonprofit closes each day at 4:30. So I'm feeling like I've. Even told I can set my schedule as long as I get my work done/do 35 hours for them, but now that I did that, it's a different story.

    Any advice?

    ETA: Autocorrect is dumb.
  • Did you get anything in writing about your ability to write your own schedule? Any e-mails that you sent back and forth regarding your schedule?  Write down any dates of conversations about your schedule that you can point to and say, "on this date we had this conversation about my schedule"?

The university is your full-time job, right?  I'd tell them you took the job under the premise that you'd had flexibility since it's not your main source of income and see if you can come to a new agreement (and get that shit in writing if you don't have it).
  • @mrsconn23  booo cavities :( Hopefully they're small.

@charlotte989875  I don't have advise, but jeez that just sounds convoluted. You set your hours but they expect you there at certain times? Confusing.

Not much last night. Burritos went well, except the meat was a tad greasy lol!
Had weird craving for something smokey, so M got small steaks {tbh it doesn't matter, as long as I get that smokey flavour. He's a steak fan, so I suggested that} and made a marinade. I'm excited!

Likely not eating until late though. My dr has walk-in clinic tonight, so despite the fact I didn't test this morning I'm gonna talk to her. I've had previous negatives, but my boobs are still big. M thinks my boobs have gotten a tad bigger too, or they're evening out. Right has been bigger {I'm also right handed} but he thinks left has caught up.

Oh well. We'll see what happens. Likely I'll have blood work done.

SSDD at work. I have a bunch of stuff, so I'll be busy most of the day at least :)
  • @CharmedPam  jealous you got to meet a fellow TK! lol

I don't have anything in writing (I know, I know that was really stupid) except that the workday hours are flexible. I do know when I had conversations regarding the classes and flex hours (I brought it up in the interview and confirmed before I signed).

The problem is is they are both full time positions; but I did take the job under the premise that I'd also be working at the university full-time since they agreed to schedule my classes around the nonprofit. The university is my main income and they agreed to that (verbally).

Definitely time to get this written down.
  • Ditto getting it in writing. Not just for protection now, but if your current supervisor leaves and the replacement is less flexible, you want something solid.

I would go to your supervisor with your schedule, in writing. Show him/her how you are fulfilling the requirements of the NFP job (don't even go into your university job schedule - your supervisor doesn't care). Simply show how you're fulfilling the 35 hrs a week.

Was your supervisor part of the interview process where this was discussed? Gently remind them of this conversation and that you taking the job was contingent on the schedule being flexible.

  • @mrsconn23 My rule for getting cavities filled is that I get to treat myself to some new Lulu after.  Granted, it's also my after Dentist treat for no cavities, but I figure I deserve something nice for putting up with all the needles they give me in the chair

Banana - I'm jealous that you were in Disney, even if it did pour on your pool day.

Today is my last day off.  Final day workout and Yoda is going into the vet.  He's down to goal weight, so we're going to talk new food ideas with the vet so he doesn't keep losing weight.  I might try to clean the house too, but lack of motivation may kick in

  • Ugh, cavities.

I hope you're able to work everything out with your schedule @charlotte989875!

It was 80 degrees when I left the house at 7 this morning. It's supposed to be 112 today. Help. I am so tired I can barely keep my eyes open. I'm waiting for my coffee to cool down enough to drink. I have a class for work until four and then I'm meeting my parents for taco Tuesday. This restaurant brings out complementary quesadillas with their chips. Free. Quesadillas. Plus $0.75 tacos. Yaas.

I made a lot of progress on the closet yesterday. I finally feel like it is getting organized. I started stalking Pinterest again to look for ideas for a little coffee bar. I have an idea of what I want, but Pinterest is definitely going to help.

Yes, she was in the interview when I discussed and the one I confirmed with when taking the job.

I woke up at 3:30 because my stomach was crampy.  I've been up since.  I have to meet with someone for a school event.  DH has to work late and we have 2 soccer practices in 2 places.

Tomorrow I'm scheduled back to back meetings from 10-4.  Plus a 2 hr drive on both ends and straight to DS's first soccer game when I get back.  MIL dares to ask what I do with "all my free time."

I got an instant pot and I don't know what to do with it.  I found a chocolate pudding recipe so I might be headed that route this afternoon..
  • I'm so tired I'm nauseous and everything hurts. I was just about to lie down for a nap when one of our neighbors stopped by with a gift for the baby. It was very sweet of her to do that, but now I'm hoping to be able to squeeze in a nap this afternoon before the witching hour when Babypants becomes Fussypants.

    @6fsn what's an instant pot?

Giggling at bolded. I've heard about this time ;)
  • This is me today.

Why does taking one day off = 1000x the work?

In an interesting turn of events, the other job may be working itself out.  They were recruiting people to fill two leadership positions, the other person declined which left money on the table to sweeeten the deal.  After these last couple weeks of childish managment, I'm feeling the itch to move.

@charlotte989875  I have a boss that never remembers anything.  If I suspect it will be a problem, I send an email "following up from our conversation" so there's some sort of written record.  I'd do the same here.  Good luck!

@banana468 Glad you had a great time!  Florida pools are the land of Murphy's law, I swear.

    @mrsconn23  Treat yo'self!

@sparklepants41 it's a name brand for a pressure cooker.  I'm not as sold as my friends are.

@kimmiinthemitten, I'm just glad she's cool with it.   Thankfully her summer camp has her in a bathing suit all the time.   The pool would have been fun but at least the heat was manageable most of the time.

Oh cool! I'm curious to hear how your pudding recipe turns out!

It's a real actual thing. And it's frustrating and bizarre. I have no idea why it happens or why it's so common. I read something online that theorized that it's her way of "tanking up" on milk so she can sleep more at night? So I've been feeding her more often in the evenings (every 1-2 hours instead of 2-3).  But she still can only go 3-4 hours at night so I'm not sure how true that theory was...
