Wednesday!

Hello!
Happy November!

How was everyone's Halloween? We only got about 140-150 trick-or-treaters last night, compared to 281 last year, I think because it was so chilly yesterday evening. We also shut out our light at 8 when Babypants went to bed.

School is wiping her out - she slept 10 hours and probably would have slept more, but I had to wake her up at 6 this morning to get her ready for daycare. I'm supremely annoyed with one of the teachers in the infant room. When I picked up Babypants yesterday this one particular teacher (all the others are awesome) made a point of telling me in an annoyed tone that she had been fussy all day. Well, guess what. She's a newborn. So yeah. She's going to get fussy - especially in a new environment like school - PLUS she has major FOMO so she won't nap as well at first, especially given that they nap in cribs and she isn't used to being in a crib. I was supremely irritated. I'm chalking it up to this particular teacher having a bad day possibly, but if she takes a tone with me again I am bringing it up to the head infant room teacher and/or the director. I'm not paying $2,000 per month to hear you whine about my infant daughter being fussy.

Re: Wednesday!

  • We got probably around 50-75 trick or treaters.  Some knocked but H couldn't answer, since DD blew out her diaper in her costume :(  She did it on the ride home from my office, so it was all in the car seat too.  So we skipped going to our parents houses.  We will probably try again on Thursday, so they can see her in her costume.

Sparkle - I would hope that teacher was having a bad day.  You are right, newborns fuss!  And I understand the FOMO!  DD still doesn't sleep that well at daycare and she is well used to a crib by now!

Tonight is yoga after work.  H is taking DD for her check up for the double ear infection.  She seems pretty good right now, so I think we should be done with the doctor's for a bit (fingers crossed!).  I got a crock pot meal started and the dishes done this morning, so I'm feeling productive as well!

I need forum fashion advice again. I’m trying to decide on what to have my son wear for his 1 year (?!?!?) pictures. I asked in my baby group and votes were split and it lines up with the outfit I liked best and the one my H liked best. What do you guys say (we will probably be in a few pix too but I’m not trying to coordinate necessarily)

Edit: Outfits in Spoiler box below so the page doesn't take forever to load

  • @sparklepants41 hopefully she was just having a bad day but yea if it happens again I'd bring it up to the director. I've noticed a few times his teacher is sort of grumpy when I pick him up, more like exasperated as opposed to her being mad at him but she's never said it negatively to me
  • @sparklepants41 that's insane. She's only a couple months! It's rare and lucky when baby isn't fussy, especially at the beginning. Jeez .....

We weren't really busy last night either. Year before we had lots of kids, but last night we had notably less. Apparently it started to drizzle partly through.

One point I was giving out candy, and I look up at there was a clown just standing at the end of the driveway. It took me a moment to realize it was person from across the street - I had seen them getting ready outside earlier.

Tonight I just keep thinking of what I have to do.
I need to throw laundry in. I wanna clean up the table, throw the vacuum around on the stairs and main floor bathroom. I'm probably bringing the recycle box inside since we have a ton of stuff to toss in for tomorrow.

I'm also making a list of xmas stuff we still need to get, because I may opt to order more on Amazon. I swear I will be done by Dec 1st!
We're cutting back a lot this year since next year I'll be on maternity leave and can't guarantee we'll have the means to buy gifts.
even though M thinks we'll be able to buy a friggen tv next year. Wtf?
  • I'm in a foul mood today due to lack of sleep and because DH and I are annoyed at each other.  I took 2 hours off this morning because I was so tired.

Um, that teacher can fuck off.  Babypants. Is. A. Baby.  Babies fuss.  That's what they do.  It would take everything in my power to not just blankly look at her and be all, "Are you new?"  I GET that daycare workers get paid shit to do their job and I know people with teaching degrees who have slogged it out in a daycare because it was their best option at the time (my sister).  But being shitty about a fussy baby is like complaining that water is wet. (see, I'm tired and super cranky...like a baby.  ;) )

ToT went OK.  We went to my sister's house and everything felt rushed since it was a 45 min drive in rush hour traffic.  It was much better than last year though because DefConn was with his cousins and other kids we know from my sister's neighborhood.  We took him out on our own last year and it just wasn't fun.  We need to get our shit together next year and make plans with our friends who live in the next town over.  We also need to get DefConn involved in something so we can meet other kids and parents.

I'm ready for the weekend and irritated that it's only Wednesday.
  • @OliveOilsMom Yikes! Rough day for DD :(

@kvruns I like 2nd because the lighter top stands out more :)

@mrsconn23 *hands you chocolate and a blanket* you need a nap, snack and hug :(
  • @sparklepants41, wow!  Even at the half the amount from last year for you all, I've never lived anywhere that had 140-150 trick-or-treaters.  Where I currently live, it was zero.  Just like the last two years, lol.  Sorry to hear the daycare teacher got a tone with you.  And she could have said the exact same thing, but with an informative tone.  Like, "I noticed BabyPants was being fussy today.  I checked x,y,z and nothing appeared to be wrong.  But wanted to let you know."

@OliveOilsMom, Doh!  I know you were worried about a blowout.  Sorry to hear it happened.  Ugh, and on the car seat also, just for the cherry on top.  But yay! for starting your day out productively.

@kvruns, I like the top pic with the gray/burgundy shirt.  But it is really more personal preference.  It's a cute outfit, either way!

I did stop at the "gourmet to go" place I mentioned yesterday.  What a find!  Great prices for good portions and amazing food.  Everything was delicious and flavorful.  My dish was covered with a lobster béchamel sauce.  I was expecting it to be more "lobster flavored".  With maybe a few shreds of lobster here and there.  I was shocked to find some chunks of lobster in it.  Will definitely be going back!

Got home, had dinner, and my Halloween only consisted of some IDHD "Snapped" episodes I saved that focused on real-life crimes that had occurred on Halloween.  Not a very exciting night, lol.

Ooohhh...I also watched the "Before the 90 Days" 2-hour tell all.  I'm not proud, but I love all those 90-Day Fiance shows and their spin-offs, lol.

  • @short+sassy I watched the Before the 90 days tell all too. I'd only watched 1 season of 90 day fiance previously but then got hooked on the more recent "after the 90 days" or whatever it was called and now I'm all about all of them.

-Jesse is a controlling ass. Is Darcy really that desperate??
-Paul/Karinne wow...maybe learned to communicate not via an app before getting married. Oh and try not to get murdered by him as he puts off major creep vibe.
-Abby just wants an old guy to take care of her. And what the heck about them buying her clothes that she can resell - there's no way those clothes are purchased cheaper in the US than what she sells them for in Haiti.

The thing that drives me crazy is why is it none of the foreigners can/do come visit. People are allowed to come be a tourist in the US so why does the US person always fly back there and the foreigner acts like it is impossible to visit the US. Especially for the ones where they are bring their child with them (Nicole to Morocco and Darcy talking about taking the girls to Amsterdam)
  • @kvruns - if doing outdoors, I would go with the gray shirt so DS will stand out more.  But if indoors, I would go with the red.  I'm probably no help!
  • @short+sassy exactly! I wouldn’t have minded as much if she had said it in a more informative and caring tone. Her bitchy delivery made it that much worse. Arrrgghh.

    I completely second this advice!!

OK, my day has been brightened because my octogenarian grandma has learned how to use emojis on FB.  She's just the best.  <3
my 89yr old nana has joined fb recently and it's my favourite thing :)
  • So tired.....

We met up at the neighbors ~5 for dinner and drinks.  ToT started at 6.  The kids were so fast I could barely keep up.  I wasn't even making it to the houses and they were off again.  I asked one person if they said thank you and she confirmed they were polite.  Whew.

My neighborhood really goes all out for Halloween- one house does a haunted house inside you can walk through, another does a small corn maze, several give out adult beverages, one was showing movies projected onto the side of the house, several had big shows set to music with singing pumpkins and skeletons, one had a huge spider in a tree she'd drop on kids as they walked.

WE HAD A BLAST.  DH and 6let left early for the game, but M2 and Max made it to 7:40 before calling it a night.

THE GAME WAS AWESOME.  There are two very tired guys today, but they had a blast.  I actually had to wake 6let up for school.  I've NEVER had to wake him up.  6let was on tv after the last goal and he was so excited.

--I almost died of laughter in the episode where Jesse drops down on one knee.  Pulls out a diamond ring.  And then tells Darcy that it is NOT an engagement ring, but a token of how much he cares for and appreciates her or some b.s. like that.  I strongly suspect that they are both the kind of people who tend to be happiest in crazy, volatile relationships.

--I occasionally frequent a chat board about the 90 Days series.  Paul's been arrested multiple times for stalking women, though I think he was only convicted once.  He did go to prison for arson.  On a lighter note, I was rolling my eyes so hard when he wrote his proposal to Karine in the sand.  But wrote it in English.  Ummm, wtf?  Your g/f speaks Portuguese.  How about you stop being so selfish, look past the nose on your face, and take 30 seconds to see how that sentence is written in Portuguese.

--On Abby:  Oh, but it is cheaper when someone else is buying the clothes and she doesn't have any expenses, lol.  I think it's just part of her scam where it sounds better to ask her b/fs to buy her the clothes for her business, than to just say, "Send me money."

--Nicole and Azan, lol.  This season's younger version of Danielle and Mohammad.  Who I'd bet were TLC's best couple ever for ratings.  At least Azan seems a lot nicer than Mohammad.  But it is still "stoic, unemotional" type paired with "incredibly clingy, needs constant reassurance" type.  Nicole's abject immaturity drives me nuts.

For as up and down as that relationship is, I can't believe her dad agreed to co-sign for Azan's visa because Nicole threatened to move to Morocco with May.  I would have called that bluff, big time!  Yea girl.  For as picky and princess as you are.  You go live in Morocco, knowing you are saying good-bye to all the conveniences and familiar food (to you) of the U.S.  She'd be back in a month.  Speaking of food, I also liked how Azan slipped in that he was worried about moving to the U.S. because he was worried Nicole wouldn't cook food and would only bring home take-out.  Oh Azan.  So much to learn about gender equality in the U.S.  You better start educating yourself about pots and pans, lol.

Depending on the country a person is coming from, I think it can be hard to get even a visa for a vacation to the U.S.  But yeah, I do find that weird also, because there are a lot of countries where it is probably pretty easy.  In fact, the hostess on the tell-all asked Jesse how he had gotten to the U.S. in person from Amsterdam, since they are not currently in the K-1 Visa program.  He gave her a fleeting surprised look and said he just got a vacation visa.  He also added that he had been to the U.S. many times before he met Darcy.  He definitely had a NBD attitude about it.

  • Jesse and his 'appreciation ring' hahaha like wtf dude. Sometimes I wonder (hope?) those type of things are just for ratings

And how the hell does Nicole afford to fly to Morocco twice, not to mention paying for lodging, and now also flying her child. She's a barista at Starbucks who doesn't even make the $25K per year to sponsor him. And also, does she live in a motel or is that just my imagination?

Danielle and Mohammad were my sole reason for watching the after the 90 days thing, I didn't know who any of the other couples were.

Sadly, I think there is a lot of that.  I know the couples are real people, not actors or anything like that.  But I suspect some of the "conflicts" are either made up or greatly exaggerated for the show.

I think the show pays for people's travel ;).  Ah ha!  Perhaps that is the answer to your other question.  In the "90 Day Fiance" show, we get to see the foreigners' reactions to coming to the U.S.  But, "Before the 90 Days", we get to see the Americans traveling to their SO's country.  The show might only pay for trips that follow those "patterns".

That was weird with the building that looked like a motel.  I was wondering the same thing, but think it was actually low-end apartments.  I don't think there were big numbers on the doors, like you'd typically see at a motel.  I have seen smaller apartment buildings before with "motel style" architecture.  Last season, when she was on the "Before the 90 Days" spinoff, she lived with her mom in a house.  Maybe she got her own place now.

I'm sad that this show is aired in other countries, lol.  Most of the Americans on it are such tools.  Either they're intolerant about other cultures and just all around fussy.  Or they're desperate and needy.  And it is usually all of that, lol.

  • Good call on the Before the 90 days being all about the other countries vs the big US reveal for the actual 90 day show
  • We had 0 ToTers last night and I was super disappointed. H even went out to the door and knocked because I was bummed. So now we have a ton of candy just sitting in the house. Halloween is kind of a bummer when you're too for Halloween bar parties, but don't have kids. My sister didn't even dress the little one up yesterday because it was her long day at work and the kid outgrew her costume.

  • Doh!  Halloween Leftover Candy Scavenging Failure.

At 4PM this afternoon, one of the mechanical engineers brought some work over to me.  Gasp!  No!  He was a reminder that the mechanical department is the BEST for people always bringing in treats.  But my office is on the opposite side of the building.  And I rarely need to go over there.  So I forget about them.

I scurried over looking for treats.  There was a big flat box.  That I'm sure earlier in the day...was filled with goodies.  But by 4PM.  Nothing but Dum-Dums and Tootsie rolls.  Whomp, whomp, lol.

  • We had about 60 kids at the door last night.  We set up in our garage and hand out boozy hot chocolate to the parents as well, which was super well received last night.  Dork was a bit overwhelmed by Halloween as a whole, and as such we made it to about half the houses we did the previous year.  It was also super windy and cold so that might have contributed to her lack of interest.

I've been so tired lately.  Going to bed early and struggling to get up on time to get out the door to work.  I'm going to work out when I get home tonight and see if I can't create some energy... or something.
