Wedding Woes

Friday!!

This week has FLOWN by.  What's up today? for the weekend?

We're celebrating good report cards. Well, maybe.  M2's teacher put the grades in the wrong section so I really only know that the teacher said she's doing fine at conferences.

Tomorrow 3 soccer games and 2 bday parties.  Sunday 2 games, 1 Crew game, 1 rosary service and pumpkin carving.

Re: Friday!!

  • The week has been the opposite for me - too slow!  LOL!

For those interested, the saga of the banister is finally over!  H picked up the drill from his friend yesterday and we finished the installation of the screws.  It is very shored up and no longer moving.  But most of all, the baby gate is finally locking again!  H put in the spackling already and we plan to do the painting of it tonight.  I also have some other areas to paint, which we are going to try and do tonight.

This weekend, I have some small errands to run.  We will also be attempting to fix our TV.  I think I mentioned it once before, but there are these little shades that cover the LED light bulbs in the TV.  A few of them have fallen out of place.  H was researching it and found its common.  There is also a tedious, but easy fix.  So we are going to do that this weekend.  Since the TV will be off the wall, we will also probably paint that wall too.  I've had the paint for it for 2 years - so it's about time!  We will also probably install the cord hiding contraptions we have also bought but never installed!

I also have a pumpkin which I should probably carve with/for DD.  She is in love with Minnie Mouse and Elmo, right now, so I will probably check out some easy pumpkins designs for those two and see what I could pull off.

We will also fit in church this weekend as we haven't been in a few weeks.  And since God takes attendance, we need to show our faces ;)

  • I have so much I want to do for Halloween  - decorate, carve, bake etc....but I don't know what I'll get around to.  H and I saw Halloween last night.  It was actually pretty good.  Campy, like the movie 40 years ago. They even mentioned that it was 40 years ago from 1978 and I'm like 'whoa. That's old!" and then I recalled I was born in 1979.  I'm almost HALLOWEEN OLD!  But I do want to re-watch the original now.

  • I feel like I am in awe every day on how busy you are, 6.

H and I got into an argument last night about Bears tickets. I ended up with 2 extras for Sunday and he didn't want to go. Told me Wednesday night, Thursday morning and Thursday afternoon that he didn't want to go. So we find someone else and then he decides he wants to go. So now I feel like the asshole because I had to decide whether or not to tell Other Guy he can't go or tell H he can't go. And that turned into a big thing. Other Guy is going, but the thing with H still isn't solved.

And we have Nine Inch Nails tonight, so that should be fun. LOL

I just wanna go back to bed.

  • Woohoo MrsConn - Great news!
  • Yay mrsconn Mom!!!
  • This week flew by for me too. Tonight I need to change over my clothes - put summer away and take winter out. It's so cold!
Tomorrow I'm getting my hair done.
Sunday we're going up to the resort we got married at, and staying the night. We have massages booked, and a nice dinner. Can't wait!
  • I took yesterday off.  Had some carting/hauling to do at the reno house.  Then did a bunch more mystery shops.  Though not nearly as many as I'd planned/hoped for because the carting/hauling took much longer than I'd anticipated.  Oh well.

My special mystery shops project ends on Monday.  I have today and my whole weekend set aside for the final push.  I just hope my big reload on the special card happens later this afternoon, like it is supposed to (eek).  I'm both sorry and glad to see the project end.  I wish I had shop opportunities like this all the time!!! ...just at a much less frenzied pace, lol.

  • SSDD for me. I almost got beat up in the bathroom at the gym last night. I missed it by like two seconds. This woman was going crazy in the bathroom and getting super agressive. As one of her triggers for aggression (per what she was yelling and hitting lockers about) I decided to remain in my stall until it was over. Security had to come get her. My city sometimes.

im so glad to here about your mom mrsconn!

  • Salesperson at work is driving me NUTS! I sent out a report of all of the sales people's deals currently in a system that only I access.  Each one had their own tab. I asked them to update and send back so I can update the system. After round and round with her including one email of her saying "I made the updates, did you want me to send them back" (DUH how can I update the system? She doesn't have login rights to do it)

I get an email from her last night with the updates.  It's 63 lines long and columns out to Z.  She didn't highlight any of her changes! and she wants to add ~10 new deals.

7 am she asks if I've made the updates yet.  I actually do get her stuff done, but I am missing some info on 2 deals.

me: I cannot close these until you give me revenue and date.
her: close as won, what more info do you need?
    me: revenue, and date closed
her: where do I get that info?

DUDE, SHE'S THE SALES PERSON. SHE SIGNS THE SCOPES. SHE GETS A COMMISSION ON THIS DEAL!

I really could look that info up for her, but she does this EVERY MONTH and I don't get any commission on this shit.

  • Glad the timing worked out for you @levioosa and that your mom comes home today @mrsconn23.  Enjoy your weekend @climbingwife! ( Super nosy but by any chance did you get married at Mohonk?)

I’m off today and volunteered at my kids’ school Walkathon.  The older grades walked to a nearby park but preschool and PreK did an obstacle course in the gym.   All three were excited to see me and it was cute watching them with their new little friends, doing their thing.  I was assisting them on the balance beam for part of the morning which involved holding lots of little hands.  So much coughing.  So many wet hands.  I’m doing a lot of baking for the school’s Halloween party tomorrow so I raced to the bathroom and washed my hands like eight times...hope it was enough  :#

Omg.  That’s one of my favorite places in the world.  I’ve had hunches before but just now when you mentioned the massages I was like I have to ask.  Enjoy that spa!!
  • Busy day at work; meeting with my group manager this morning went super well!

H and I also had some weirdness this morning. Maybe, TMI, here.  We had good sex this morning (yay!) but something just felt, off. I don’t know if I can even describe it besides, less than excited toward the, well, end. I don’t know. And he’s away at the camp all weekend so I’m probably just going to be hung up on it for no reason.

I had actually never been there until we looked at it for our venue. And I fell in love. We go every year now. I agree that it's one of my favorite places too! We even spent last Thanksgiving there.
Hands down the best massages I've had have been there. I got one after the wedding. Such a good decision. And I can't wait for that mineral pool!
  • I'm just watching the clock, TBH.  This week has been draining.

K has a craft party tonight and still has to work, so I'm probably going to take  a long bath and maybe shave this leg hair that is long enough I can feel wind in it as I walk.  We have a shrimp boil tomorrow and then I bought us a "Romance in the Garden" package.  We have an amazing garden here in our city, and they sold picnic baskets with blankets, sparkling juice, chocolate, snacks, and a wishing lantern.  I'm hoping it's not too cold, so we can have some fun.  Sunday will be slow too.  Still weird having my weekends back.

There is a campaign that has been running in my city for a few years now that is starting to really upset me.  It's for a domestic abuse shelter here and it involves (now) wearing a black bandaid underneath your eye with the slogan.  It's a black bandaid now because the last few years it's been an actual make up black eye.  They finally stopped that b/c the people they were using as spokespeople, actual victims of domestic abuse, told the organization repeatedly it was triggering as hell to see that and have to smile.  I don't think the black bandaid is one iota better and I'm pissed this organization isn't listening to the very people it professes to serve (who have also complained about the bandaid).  So I've got like...half of my FB feed on unfollow right now b/c of it.  But then driving at lunch I saw like 3 billboards and I'm miffed all over again.
  • @climbingwife oh awesome.  I’ve only been a few times but it’s still one of my favorite places.  I imagine it’s a terrific wedding destination.  I’m dying to go now that they renovated the dining area.

@charlotte989875 we’ve had times where we don’t quite..click?  Even after all this time.  I could see not saying anything if it’s not in person...and mulling over it. Ugh, sorry  :|

That’s a much better way to describe it. Just not clicking. And everything else is fine so I’m just letting it be, but it’s like sticking in my head, like things are want to do. I hate going into weekends apart feeling off.

That is so not trauma informed. I wish I were surprised but after a year at a DV advocacy group I’m sadly not. There’s such a lack of really hearing survivors that it’s absurd. Sorry you have to see that daily and that they’re unwilling to listen.
  • V- that picnic sounds lovely. That ad campaign wtf?!  It’s been running for years?

I was just watching a clip of The View and they talked about how their finger nails were painted purple to highlight domestic violence.

I dont' know if the purple fingernails are the answer here but a fake black eye sure as hell isn't it.

It is supposed to be SUUUUUUUCKY weather this weekend.   We're in the 'probably losing power' zone so we'll see if any oak trees in the backyard become kindling.

I'm headed to the store and I think DD and I are going to try our hands at making homemade pasta over the weekend.   I think she'll really love seeing how things come together.

MIL is now in a rehab facility for her knee.   I think she'll be there for a few weeks and in the meantime I told DH to tell his dad that if he wants to have a loud meal he's welcome at our house.

I can only recall this specific campaign imagery for the last two years, including this year, but the friend who first pointed it out to me as a survivor and being upset says it's been since she was here, which is at least 5 years.

This year, one of my favorite LGBTQ+ orgs (not my former one) has partnered with the domestic violence shelter.  Which heck yes it's important to recognize that domestic violence exists in LGBTQ+ relationships, far more than anyone talks about.  But this is not the way to do this.  At all.  And it really bothers me that they're not listening to the survivors for what really appears to be just PR reasons of "famous" people in the city getting their pretty black and white serious shots with black bandaids.
  • @mrsconn23 so glad your mom gets to come home!
