Double D Ranch

Hi everyone! I'm considering having my wedding reception at the Double D Ranch in Mesquite. The place looks great and the price is so affordable. The only thing is that I can't find many reviews about it. Have any of you had your wedding reception there or have attended an event there? Thanks in advance for your responses.

    It has pretty mixed reviews if you Google it.

    I grew up in that area (in fact, my mom still lives there).  It's in a pretty depressed part of town right off of 635 and Lake June.  Not a very nice part of town.  And it's not Mesquite like they say, it's Balch Springs.

    I've never been to a wedding at Double D, but my father's job union throws a union picnic there every year. From what I know they have been throwing it there for at least the past 7 years, so they have to be doing at least an okay job for them to continue to use them. I have also attended my little cousin's birthday party that was held in their smaller room, my uncle had a good experience working with them. I do agree with Stephanie above it is in a depressed part of town.

    Thanks for your responses. We actually went to see the place on Saturday. We went there almost sure we wouldn't like it. As soon as we walked in the hall, we totally changed our minds. True the neighborhood isn't the greatest and even when you look at the building from outside(we'd use the smaller building) it doesn't seem like much. The actual hall looks very nice though. The wedding package includeds alot for a very good price. The only thing we'd have to purchase separately would be the cake and alcohol. It just sounds too good to be true. 

    I only found 4 reviews. 2 were good and 2 were bad.

    Our daughter was married at the Double D Ranch just a few weeks ago.  The wedding was beautiful.  The ceremony was held  outside at the Pergola and we had the large Mustang Corral for the reception. The ranch itself was great, very well maintained and the scenery was very nice. The BBQ was delicious, we had many compliments on it.  So, with that in mind, I do  recommend them. However, you must be aware that their staff provides no assistance to you during the reception/ceremony, other than making sure the buffet line is full. We also paid extra for a bartender and were also very unsatisfied with his service. My advise to anyone using the facility is to make sure you bring your own help. I hired two people (plus myself and some family) for 150 guest, and it was not enough.  Their staff did not help unload anything; including alcohol.  They also told us we would have access to decorate at 3:00pm but when we arrived, were told we could only use the bride's room until 4:00. It set us way behind.  Over all I would rate the property and food ,an A but the service a low C. I have some great photos.

    FYI...gay people are not allowed to rent this venue for events.
