How long have you and FI been together?

I've only been with my FI for a year and when we get married next May, we'll have been together for a total of two years (we've known each other for a while, but relationship wise it's only been a year). To a lot of people, that doesn't seem like enough time to get to know one another but there is no doubt in my mind that FI is who I'm meant to be with! I don't really believe that the length you've been together is any indicitation on how strong your relationship is; before FI, I was in a 3.5 year relationship that was no where near this deep and marraige was the last thing on my mind then! But my FI is my perfect match.. we balance each other completely and I admire him in so many ways. I honestly know that he's the one for me today, tomorrow, and will still be the one for me ten years from now.

Gushing aside, here's the real questions: How long have you and your FI been together? How long into your relationship did you know he/she was the one?

We have currently been together a year and a half, so we will be married at 2 and a half years. I knew only a few months in. His ex tried coming back into his life and instead of shutting me out and "dealing" with it himself we were actiually able to talk and work through the problem together.
Looking back I realize my ex's were jealous little babies despite being older than myself.

I've been with my fiance for about three and a half years. I think I knew it was him for a long time, but it was around two years that I knew I was ready to marry him. It was more because when we met, I was starting grad school, living in a new city, living on my complete own for the first time and I hate change. I needed to get through the changes before my mind would let me add one more!

I do have friends who were married in less and more time. One of my friends was married 365 days after they met and another was engaged in three months and married in just over a year. I couldn't do it, but I totally understand that other people can.

As of June, FI and I will have been together for 3 years and have been engaged for 2. When you know, you know :-) I would've said yes to FI in a heartbeat if he proposed sooner than that since I knew he was the one so early on in our relationship.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how long you've been together- unless it's only been a day, lol.

We've been together for 5 years next month. So, 6 years when we get married.

We knew we would get married someday after being together for less than a year.

We have been dating for 5 years and will have dated just short of 6 when we are married. However, within days of meeting each other we talked about getting married. It was never a question if it was right or not more the right time or not. We didn't want to get married too young and I specifically wanted to be in a certain spot in my career before marriage. I say do what's best for you and who cares what anyone else thinks.

Stephen and I have been together for 10 years in October. We have known each other since freshman year of college, but we didn't start dating until he graduated college and at that point, I had a 2 year old, we have had quite the journey! I knew I was going to marry him on our first date.

We've been together 3 ish years (Friends for almost a year before that). Sometime like 4 months in I remember texting a friend saying that I think I could marry him. If he had asked me a year or so in I would have said yes

We've been engaged for only 4 months now, but had talked about it generally for a while before that. Over the summer I turned down a job 8 hours away to stay/move in with him, and that was pretty much a we are going to get engaged really soon kindof thing.

We've been together for almost 12 years. We had wanted a May 18 wedding, to mark out 12.5 yrs together, but it's communion/confirmation time so it was a no go. I knew for awhile we'd marry, but it's been about 3 yrs since I've known it's for life.

My FI and I have been together for 2 1/2 years this June. We both knew that the other person was the one basically from the beginning of our relationship. It's crazy but we knew right when we met, we fell in love quickly and we were inseperable and still are. We started seriously looking at engagement rings 6 months into our relationship and we got engaged another year later which was 1 year and 6 months into our relationsip.... so we have been engaged for 1 year so far. When we get married we will have been together for 3 1/2 years.

FI and I have been together 3.5 yrs. So it will be 4.5 yrs by wedding day.

I think we knew this was forever right off the bat. He knew I had just gotten out of an abusive marriage and had 3 kids and he didnt run.

Instead he took it slow and helped me heal and I tell him all the time he saved me.

We will be together 2 yrs. in July. So almost 3yrs when we get married. As long as you know he is who you want to be with the rest of you life that's what matters. I wouldn't trade my hubby to be for anything!!!

We have been together a year and 5 months!!! And we have a 4.5 month old baby! Love happened pretty fast for us. We're loving it!!

We've been together a little over 3 years, so it'll be about 4 years when we get married. By the time we get married, we will have been engaged half of our relationship. I think I knew I wanted to marry him after a few months, but we started talking about it about a year into the relationship.

My parents were only dating a year and half when they got married, so every one is different

Our relationship turned serious pretty quickly - maybe at like 5 months I knew and then we started talking about it and on our 10-month anniversary her proposed. Yep, we move fast! Both of us knew it was right and just didn't see any reason to wait. We were friends for a little over a year before we started dating. It will be just over 2 years when we have the wedding. So very excited to marry my soul mate!

I agree, as long as you're sure and confident, time is just a number.

We've been together for 8 months. When we finally get married it'll be around a year and 8 months of having been together. We knew really soon, but we're having a long engagement because we want to finish undergrad before getting married. When you know, you know. We knew each other before we actually started dating though.

FI and I have been together since December 29,2010 soo about a year and 5 months now and length doesnt matter, he proposed in February and if he would have done it any sooner I would have deff said yes

FI and I have been together for 6 years just a few weeks ago was our anniversary

I honestly knew that he was the one from the first time we went on a date/kissed. Its really cheesy but I litterally thought the words "you sir are it" lol. I dont quite remember when we started talking about getting married but we moved in together around the 7 month mark and have been going strong ever since. We always knew we would get married in the end, he just took a long time to propose and finally be ready to take that last big step. We will have been dating for a little over 7 yrs and engaged for exactly 1.5 years when we get married.

I'm pretty sure we knew we wanted to get married after the first year, maybe even before. He is the love of my life and I can't see a future without him, and I think he feels the same. I can't wait for next May to get here already!

We've been together exactly 4 years and 1 month, lol. We knew that marriage was for us about 1.5 years in. Our second Christmas together he bought me a promise ring and I wore that for the last two years on my left ring finger. Let me tell you, I was thinking he would never actually propose! But he finally did and here we are! We will be together for 5 years, 1 month, and 10 days by the time we get married, and I can't wait!

Glad to know we're in a similar place! There is no doubt in my mind that my FI is the one, but it gets frustrating sometimes when extended family members and "friends" question if we're really ready for marraige and if we have thought this through. My answer? OF COURSE WE HAVE! It's not like we're right out of high school - we're both in our mid-twenties and are stable in our lives. It's just refreshing to know hear everyone's stories on here... seriously, thanks for sharing :)

My FI and I have been together for 7 years, so it'll be 8 by the time we get married. We started dating when I was 13 and he was 15 and we talk about 'forever' and marriage about 2 months in. I know, crazy! We didn't get offcially engaged until 3 years ago. We decided to wait a while before planning because we wanted to make sure we were more financially stable, plus we wanted to live together for a while first. It wasn't until this past September, when I lost a close friend, that made me realized that life is too short and to make sure everyone I care about knows it. We both agreed to start planning and here we are. I don't know what I'd do with out him. I do know that I love him very much and that he makes me extremely happy

It will be 3 years for us this August, at that point we will have been engaged for half that time. I knew he was the one around three month mark, he started talking about it seriously around 8 months. We were originally planning to get married right after our 3 year anniversary, but the economy had other plans, and now we are very happy to be having it in may, just after the 3.5 year mark
