Thursday

We're almost to the end of the week.  YAY!

It's also Prudie day.  YAY x 2!

One week until school starts.   I think DH is going to take off next Wednesday with DefConn and me.   We're going to go do something fun.

Just biding my time until the weekend.

Re: Thursday

  • Apparently the power is out at FI’s building so he woke me up at six with his loud talking to his employees about the situation. I went to bed after midnight so now I’m pretty tired.

My plan is to go to Urgent Care today to get an x-ray of my hand/wrist. I’m starting to think I may have broken it during my fall. Hopefully it’s just a bad sprain but I noticed yesterday there’s a new protrusion where the ulnar bone usually is and I’m having some associated nerve issues with numbness and tingling of the fingers so I’m not too hopeful. Fingers crossed though. Otherwise it’s more studying and eating the delicious Indian food I stress bought last night during our study session.

    Yay for Prudie day!

  • How is this week not over already?

I have zero motivation to work. I just booked our additional excursions for our river cruise in September. Cannot wait!
  • Hooray Thursday!

I'm trying to add one more week of camp for Chiquita because I have to potentially fly and be out of town for 3 days.   Now to find something that works with our schedule.

Hey summer camp people: Having a camp that ends at 4 and starts at 9 is a pain in the ass.   Anyone with a full time job needs to work more hours than that.
Luckily we are doing a staycation for the last week the kids are off and before they go back to school but this is still so annoying.

I made plans for a play date Saturday at the pool and DH and I are going to go test drive a car.   DH's daily driver is 11 years old and giving us more problems and there are some great deals GM is offering at the moment.   We're leaning towards a Buick station wagon.

  • I'll try and post some photos later, but BabyKitten is living her best life lmao!

She's been having a blast with my mum this week, and tomorrow she'll be spending time with my aunt tomorrow.
We're gonna set up her trike tonight so she can potentially take her out.

We got bank stuff dealt with, and M found out the guy is new so that's a huge part of it. I'm still looking at talking to my bank and see what they can offer us - we have car loan, mortgage and M's accounts at his bank but I wanna see what my bank can offer.
This is the 2nd his bank has given us issues. Guh.

    @levioosa- good luck.

We purged clothes this morning. I got rid of 3 bags of clothes and 1 of shoes. We’re going to lion king after lunch!

my period started yesterday and it’s awful. I wish menopause would just start already.
  • Omg Trumps decided to start executing people again. No federal executions since 2003. Horrific.
  • We went out to dinner last night with my stepbrother.  The food was amazing, as usual.  This is a restaurant that prepares Bananas Foster at the table, flambe' style.  So, of course, that dessert is an absolute must, lol.  Then we all walked around the French Quarter a bit and along the MS River.  It was such a nice time!  Plus, my H has been burning the candles at both ends between all the DIY work at one property and showings at another.  I was glad we had a good opportunity to go to one of his favorite restaurants.  Even if my 'cc is limping from the strain, lol.
Ohhh at Brennan’s? I always remember going there as a little girl for brunch just because my mother wanted us to have that experience. It was def vastly above our normal price range but so special.

I wonder if there will be lawsuits over it. I'm sure the ACLU has been primed if they had a head's up regarding this change.

But yeah, they are doubling down on their cruelty after yesterday's hearings (because I refuse to believe that shit is not orchestrated for maximum distraction from the truth and their utter criminality).
  • Leviosa - I hope everything checks out ok with your wrist!

H wants to mow the lawn this evening, so I'm picking DD up from school again.  I am also in charge of dinner (he cooks almost every day since he is home first).  I was going to make the IP pad thai, but I forgot to get the chicken out of the freezer.  So I don't know what I'm doing now.  I will see if H can get it out and put the package in some water.  It should be thawed by the time I get home.  Other than that SSDD.

This week has gone pretty quick for me, even though its been a few weeks since I have been in the office a full week!  So that is a plus!

Not the original Brennans restaurant...though they're definitely still around!...but a different restaurant in the Brennan's family called Palace Café.

The Brennans family is a restaurant dynasty in New Orleans.  There are two factions of the family that own a total of 5 restaurants.  Or at least 5 I can think of off the top of my head.  There could be more, lol.  They also own Commander's Palace, which is the restaurant where Emeril Lagasse was head chef for some years, before embarking on his own restaurant empire.

Edited to add: The original Brennans restaurant is where the Bananas Foster dessert originated from.

My friend just IM’d me about how slow the day is going. I’m like “week!  The week is going slow!”

i was JUST going to look at excursions for our winter cruise.  Viator just sent out a link for 10% off with promo code JULY10.  I’m just leery about not going through the cruise line because of the guarantee of getting back on the ship...

Also what is a Banana Foster?
  • @OliveOilsMom anything frozen, just add 5min time. Idk if it says it on the site, but I know on a fb group I'm on for recipes it says that :)

They bring a cart with a burner tableside.  Start cooking sliced bananas in butter and brown sugar.  The butter/brown sugar basically makes a caramel sauce.  Once that has mostly cooked and gotten warm, then they throw on the banana liqueur/rum.  Which causes a flame in the pan.  Cinnamon is sprinkled on at about the same time and those cause bright orange sparks.

Once it's all done, they spoon the  caramel sauce and bananas to vanilla ice cream.

  • OMG, drat and curses!

I am so busy at work right now.  Overwhelmed.  Have been for awhile.  But I'm dealing and it's better than the alternative.

Fridays have always been overloaded.  And now the client just sent me a request for ANOTHER report they want sent out on a weekly basis.  On Fridays.  It had been a monthly report.  And...oh, is it reasonable for me to start doing that tomorrow?

What I wanted to say, lol, "NO!  No, it's not possible.  Maybe in another month or two.  And start THIS Friday?  Are you kidding me right now?"

But because I'm a pleaser.  And a glutton for punishment.  And the request came from our client.  What I did say, "Sure, I can start issuing this report on a weekly basis.  I can send the next one tomorrow."

  • I am annoyed. I don’t live in a particularly health care friendly area. I chose a new urgent care to go to because they advertised having an x-ray and x-ray tech on site. I show up and they tell me “oh, it’s only on Saturdays.”  The website did not say that at all. Holy misrepresentation. It’s literally the reason I chose to drive twenty minutes to this particular UC.

  • Sorry if the photos are huge! I don't know how the cut them under a 'spoiler' :\
  • @levioosa wtf!? Did you tell them it's misrepresentation!? That's ridiculous!

@VarunaTT, correct me if I’m wrong but you live in the St. louis area right?  Lemp Mansion has the best table side banana’s foster I ever had!  I think they did another fruit foster.

    go for me please?

    also, the dinner was outstanding.

Eta: cherries jubilee.  That’s the other one.

  • @charmedpam Not there, but we go there a lot.  I love Bananas Foster too.  I'll have to chat with one of my BFFs, I'm supposed to go visit her soon and this sounds right up my alley.

I love the whole Lemp mansion experience.  The bar. The ambiance.  The food. I can’t wait to go back!  If you do dine there, make SURE to go into the bathroom.

They serve cherries jubilee at Brennans also.  It's really good there, but I'm not sure I've had it anywhere else.  Because, hey, if you have the equipment, might as well do both of those traditional flambe' desserts.

I do like Bananas Foster, though I actually prefer Cherries Jubilee.  But I'm not a big dessert eater anyway and it's not a huge preference.  Whereas, my H is a die-hard Bananas Foster guy and if I even suggest Cherries Jubilee, he jokingly threatens to disown me, lol.  We usually split dessert but, the next time we're at Brennans, I might need to get my Cherries Jubilee on.  I haven't had that dish in years.  My H will seriously side-eye me, but be mollified he gets an entire Bananas Foster to himself, lol.

Ugh that sucks about the UC @levioosa ..sending healing vibes!
I always wonder that @banana468 , camp hours seem so limited.  I'm off summers and look for half day options (8:30-11:30 or 9-12) really just to buy myself a break here and there as well as get the kids out of the house and around kids they aren't related to a bit, but the "extended day" option is always until like 3-4.  Who is that helping??

Long day at the beach today.  A mom friend (whose son is my son's bestie) has a cabana- it was nice to have a fridge, bathroom, shower, and rest area right there.  We usually just go to a beach 20ish minutes away, this was a good hour but worth it with those amenities.  Nothing like driving home at 6pm with three clean, fed kids.  Go ahead, fall asleep on the way home B)
