Fri-yay!

Another intentionally laid back weekend here.  And I'm looking forward to it.  How about everyone else?

Re: Fri-yay!

  • There's a sunflower festival I really want to go to, but I'm not sure I can make everything work and still get my lazy on.  K has a roller derby game out of town, but I'm not going.  I usually try to go to at least one, but they're playing in both games (A team and B team) and I don't want to stay for both games.  I think K is also working Sunday (they've left overnights and have a new schedule which I'm not sure about right now), so I might be by myself for quite a bit.

I just ordered new curtains and hardware and all of the storage stuff for us to get the office/drag/craft room finally organized and, by doing that, clean out the storage unit.  This makes me happy.  I'm trying to have it all finished by the time school goes back into session for K, so that we have a clean, organized apartment for the fall/winter.  I'm a fall cleaner, not a spring cleaner, no idea why.
  • This is the weekend if our mineral spa hotel trip. H told me he may have to work tonight, which could lead him working into Saturday too.  I’m so over his schedule.  I told him that’s fine, I’m leaving tomorrow at 6 a.m (i’m an early riser and it’s 4 hrs away) - with or without you.  Unhitched lurkers:  don’t marry a railroader.

But a friend and her boyfriend signed up so there’s 7 of us going (possibly, if H doesn’t work tonight/tomorrow). 2 are my parents and more than likely won’t be ghost hunting with us lol

  • Suppose to be hot a.f all weekend, so we'll see what happens.
Tomorrow is M's grandma's celebration of life. BabyKitten is going to my mum's place during that because it's a few hours and she just isn't the age where we can take her to things like that. If it was next year, I would definitely consider it. My mum has a little pool now and keeps it in the shade so she may take her out to that.

Sunday M wanted to go fishing, but I have my last in-car lesson before I can take my test, and based on predicted weather he likely won't.

Next week I'm off, so today I'm just rushing through stuff to be sure my desk is ok. I even came in early because we close early.
A good chunk is done, but there's still a bit.
  • Happy birthday to @6fsn if you're around today.  :)

FIL's dog goes home tomorrow.  She's a good dog, but she can go to her home.  ;)

Tonight we're taking DefConn to my sister's and baby sitting so they can go out to dinner.  We're leaving him there for the next 2 nights.

Tomorrow, boating day with friends.  Looking forward to it.

Sunday, splash pad kick off for scouts.  Not sure if I'm going to go or if I'm going to do something on my own.  I need to find some options for family pics in a couple weeks and I want to go to my fave boutique in town that I haven't visited in months.

We got teacher assignments today.  DefConn doesn't know his teacher (he knows OF her, but hasn't come in contact with her at school).  I'm curious and hopeful that it will be another good year.  We've loved his teachers the last 2 years, so here's hoping the streak continues.   I also hope he gets to continue to work with the SpEd teacher he did last year, but there's a new one this year (they're sharing a classroom).  So I'm nervous for him a little. We have meet the teacher on Tuesday, so looking forward to getting a lay of the land.
  • @mrsconn23 It's like kids. They can be well behaved but you're grateful they go to their own place :P
  • I need a support group for children of Trump supporters. I try so hard to avoid any conversations about political issues with my mom (I don't talk to my dad often). She brought up what had happened at Angry Orchards. It escalated quickly. I'm now not speaking to her.

In other news, I had to schedule a dermatology appointment, and I have to wait until the end of October. WHY is every dermatology office like this!?

Ok, enough of the bitching. TGIF!
  • @climbingwife wait ... I think I missed something. What happened at Angry Orchards?
Legit, your mum being like this is the last thing you need right now <3 Hugs!
  • We are in Chicago to babysit grands. Unfortunately grand#1 has a bad cold and breathing a little wacky. DD and SIL are to leave for an OOT wedding this morning. Poor DD, she is so worried about the little guy. I told her he would be fine, but since she is in the medical field she knows a bit too much. They almost postponed going but now we have a Drs. appointment for him this afternoon. SIL had already called about changing their flights, but I don't think they will now. Never a dull moment with kids!
  • Oh @climbingwife, that sucks.  Your mom sounds...fun at parties.  ;)  I totally think you need a damn break from her (and like, stuff in general).

And the Angry Orchard thing is utter bullshit and they fucked up big time.  They straight up harassed those people and ruined their engagement.

    Thanks <3
  • Yeah I missed Angry Orchard.  Was this a public thing all over the news I should know about but keep my head in the sand... or something within your family personally?  Lol @climbingwife

@ILoveBeachMusic - have fun with your grandchildren! I love your terminology “The grands”.  In fact I bought an “aunt” picture frame for me but when it came I was like “nu uh.  $22!  I can make this for $3!” And then thought...you know what?  I can make my parents one for their grandkids too!  I was going to spell out “Grandkids” on it but now I’m thinking of using the term “The Grands” thanks for that!  I’ll post one of my aunt creation once the material comes in next week 😃

  • Another busy weekend of showings and DIY at the new duplexes.  Including me DIY'ing.  Sunday will be the lazy day...we will both need it!

But today, I'm off work in a couple hours.  Then I'm going to meet my stepbrother for lunch and hang out with him, until his flight this afternoon.

I'm also taking Monday off for the two eviction hearings we have.  That's taking place in the morning.  Then we're going over to the duplexes for another almost full day of DIY.  My H said it looks like the third set of tenants are in the process of moving out.  I hope so!  It would be nice to have ONE of the three tenants actually do what they are supposed to.  They're 30-Day Notice to Vacate expires today but, as long as they are out over the weekend, that's fine.  If not, it will be a little serendipity that we're going to be at the courthouse on Mon. morning anyway.  We'll file for their eviction while we're there.

  • @climbingwife, how on earth can your mom bring Trump into the racial profiling at Angry Orchard as any kind of defense?  They harassed patrons AND those patrons may actually have legal case against them based on everything I was taught about even thinking of approaching a shoplifter.

I can't get into discussions with my father or FIL when it gets political.   Luckily DH and I are 100% aligned.
  • Happy Birthday, @6fsn!

Just got a deadline out the door. We have a presentation to the client next Friday, so I am trying to whip up a quick presentation draft to send to the team for their review prior to our kick-off on Monday, but I'm losing motivation quickly.

Leaving early today to get my potassium levels checked. Hair appointment tomorrow and then family early dinner out with H and Babypants tomorrow afternoon. Soccer Sunday - weather permitting of course - and then maybe pool after naptime Sunday afternoon.

Sign me up too, (sigh).  I was not aware of the Angry Orchard incident.  Bad enough for that to happen under normal circumstances.  But during a proposal is just unreal.  Nobody who came to your establishment to propose to their g/f, is stealing one of your dumb t-shirts AO.  And that's my "profiling" of normal human behavior, using logic and reason.  Apparently the staff is as nasty as the product's after taste.

  • 6 - Happy Birthday!

And no more Angry Orchard being purchased in my house!  Though I haven't gotten it in a a few years - there are so many better craft ciders!  I feel so bad for that couple on multiple levels, but on top of all the racism - that is their proposal.  One article I read said that on of their white friends offered her purse to show and they basically said "Nope, not you."

Today one of our new attorney's had her formal inauguration for the NJ bar.  Hearing the oath made me realize even more that usual, how fucked up our current Executive Branch is right now.

Tonight we will be going out for ice cream after dinner.  Tomorrow we are also planning to go to the Amish Mart for goodies and Church.  I think we will also do Red Robin for dinner, to use up Hs free birthday burger.  Not sure if we have anything else planned, just normal around the house stuff.
  • I found this as a follow up to the Angry Orchard incident.

I have really mixed feelings about it but if they are contracted with an outside vendor and this is true then I want to believe that they are attempting to actually make immediate corrections to their practices vs. some the BS I've seen from Starbucks.

While the security people may have been outside contractor, the manager was likely employed by Boston Beer and allowed them to run amok (over a fucking t-shirt?).  Also, I don't believe for a second tapes were reviewed.  The yelly security guard said she saw him steal the shirt and it went to shit from there.  The Vice article also left out the comment I've seen in other ones from the one white member of the group who says he asked security point blank if they wanted to search him as well, and they declined.   So this redemption tour gets an extremely hairy eyeball from me.
  • DH and I both have long work trips coming, so this weekend is the last time we'll see each other for 3 weeks.

Tonight is our lazy night. I'm thinking of ordering a pizza and setting up a couch fort. Tomorrow will probably be the pool and running some errands. Then we'll spend the day together doing something fun on Sunday before I drop him to the airport.

I'm pretty sure this is the longest we've been apart since we've been married. I'm feeling all the feelings about it!
