Wedding Woes

Another Thursday/Monday

How is everyone today?

NYE was quiet, which I loved. We had a fire in the backyard since it wasn't too cold (at least when we started) and we opened a bottle of wine. Eventually it started raining/icing on us, so we went inside. We ordered pizza, and I fell asleep on the couch by 9. I did wake up for a bit and caught the ball drop.

Yesterday I did some housework and then we went to the foot spa down the street.

BIL is visiting from NC this week, so that will be fun.

Re: Another Thursday/Monday

  • I fell asleep at 8:00 on NYE after we had Mac & cheese and watched the office. Pregnancy is basically kicking my ass and I’m sick, tired, and feel like I constantly have a cold. Are there really people who love being pregnant? I was awake from 12:30 to about 4 this morning. I finally fell back asleep and the alarm was going off.

I’m back at work, things are busy and I have zero motivation. At least it’s only two days.
  • We had a very low-key New Year's.

I worked Monday.  Tuesday I was off so I could go with my Mom to her appointments.  I was up by 5 AM to be at her first appointment at 6:30.  This was a follow up scan and visit for a lump she discovered in her neck this past summer.  Scan was clear and Dr. thinks a virus caused the enlarged lymph node.  Great News!

Tuesday afternoon my Sister-in-Law texted that her 48 year old daughter was at the Emergency Department after having stroke symptoms.  A stroke was confirmed and she was admitted for further testing.  We were shocked as she has had no medical issues but we did find out there is a strong family history of stroke on her Dad's side of the family.  Her speech was mainly affected and that has gradually returned in the past couple of days.

I tried out my new Instant Pot on Tuesday night and made hard boiled eggs.  Success!  Then I crashed about 10 PM and DH was already sleeping in the chair.

Wednesday we watched the Rose Bowl parade and then the Outback Bowl.  WTG Gophers!  We were going to go up to the hospital to see DH's niece but plans were for her to be released so we didn't.

Back at work today and tomorrow and then it's the weekend again!  I've enjoyed having the days off but am also looking forward to getting back on a regular schedule.  I have two work trips coming up.  One at the end of the month and the other mid-February so that's something to look forward to as well.

  • MrsConn - Prayers for your mom that she can keep up with this harder chemo regime.  So glad to hear you ended up with a wonderful day!

Charlotte - Once your placenta is fully grown and takes over, you will begin to feel so much better!  I was supremely tired the first trimester, but overall I did enjoy my pregnancy.  But I also have PCOS, so I don't make enough of the right hormones all the time, so I think that contributed to my mostly feeling normal throughout.  I had to supplement progesterone the first trimester until my placenta could take over too.  Also, if you haven't gotten one yet, get a pregnancy pillow - they help a ton for sleeping!

We had a nice day yesterday!  We did our normal NYE celebrations at the two houses we split our time at.  We were going to stay over at my BFFs house, but H was drinking water there.  So I asked if he would be good to drive home, so we could sleep in our own bed.  He said he was fine! So we left about 12:15 and slept at home!  Much better than a pull out couch!  DD even stayed up til midnight without any meltdowns!  She was even pretty good NYD.  One of the kids at my BFFs party started to cry the closer we got to midnight.  He said he had the best 2019 and he didn't want it to end!  It was so cute!

Yesterday we got more of our house put back together and all that is really left is putting away the extra kitchen stuff that doesn't get used frequently in the basement.
  • NYE turned out kind of boring around here. Medieval times was awesome, but I sat next to my nephew who was still sick. Turns out, I came down with the flu Saturday night. So, I basically stayed in bed from Saturday evening-yesterday. NYE I was in and out of sleep woken up by fireworks. Oh well, I'm on the mend now and my boss banished me to WFH until next week, so at least I'm cozy today on a rainy day.

I'm honestly kind of annoyed at my sister about my nephew. It's not that I'm really bothered to be sick, but she knew that he was sick by at least Xmas eve, probably earlier, and she still hasn't taken him to a doctor. Yeah, he's a healthy kid and he can weather the flu without doctor/drugs, but he would have gotten past it so much faster with drugs. But what if instead of me, he'd been sitting next to someone immunocompromized? I get that she assumed it was just a cold since we're all vaccinated, but the vaccine doesn't cover all strains. I can't tell her how to parent, but I do secretly wish she'd coddle him a little more sometimes.

Otherwise, I'm excited looking forward to the new year and new decade. 2020 is going to be a great year, I can feel it in my bones. I'm jumping into some new projects at work and going to target a new role after Q1, we're almost ready to list the house, and the puppy is turning into a well mannered, potty-trained dog. I can't wait to see what's next.
  • @MyNameIsNot my mom learned the hard way the year she had the flu for Christmas how bad it is when my grandmother got it and it turned into pneumonia.

Hopefully your sister gets wise to the concept of when to go to the dr and the flu is one of those times!

  • Hugs @mrsconn23

@MNNEBride that’s awful. Hopefully she recovers quickly.

I would be super annoyed @MyNameIsNot. The flu can be deadly. I’ve personally seen it kill healthy people. One of my friend’s bff’s lost their five year old healthy son last year.

NYE was pretty good. FSIL, her FI and FSIL’s bff came over to our place. It was good for the most part. We went to dinner and then to the bar near our place. Unfortunately it started to get weird so we left at 11:20 and ended up watching the ball drop at home. Then we all promptly fell asleep. Yesterday was nice. We had day drinks, played games, and had a bonfire. It was fun and relaxing.

Work today. I’m bummed about it. Second Monday of the week. We’ll see how it goes. I came into work on Tuesday and my coworker who’s been giving me issues was super nice. I asked my manager if she had talked to her because it was a complete 180 and she had. I still have to watch my back but at least I’m not getting outright hostility any more.

I was thinking about your comment the other day. Do you think she applied for your job and is resentful because she didn't get it?

I was working with this guy last year that had interviewed for my current role. My manager tipped me off that he'd gone after my role and might be trying to sabotage me!

Thank you!! I’m really hoping in a few weeks I’ll start to feel better.

I just ordered a pregnancy pillow so I’m hoping that will help with the sleeping too. We just got a new humidifier too so I’m hoping that helps with the congestion.
  • H’s favorite thing to do is medieval times, and he just sent me a coupon for $36 dollar seats so I guess we’ll be going soon. I hear they do it up real good for nye.

So happy mom felt good enough to go out on NYE @mrsconn23, and that it was a successful day too!

on Monday we went out on Broadway street in Nashville. My mom got drunk and cupped my face to tell me she loved me and felt the hair wefts in my hair so I told her to be careful! She said “what else is fake?” And looked down at my breasts.  I’m like “you can tell?” (No really, they’re the same size as i’ve been stuffing them for the last two years to make the transition not so noticeable!  She said “of course I did” and gave me the whole talk of her just wanting her kids to be happy. I then admitted that I had “other work done” but she didn’t catch on.

but then on the 31st she said nothing so I thought it was all a drunk convo (yes, with my mom.  She parties hard).  But on the 1st she asked if i got implants.  I told her yes again.  And that I told her already on Monday.  She Said “just don’t change who you are” basically.  But she forgot about the other confession.  I’m sure I’ll have to Re tell her about that too.  Probably drunk.  And probably in Vegas in 2 weeks.

Oh no. That would be impossible. I have a degree and license necessary for the role that she doesn’t have.

Your hips are already starting to move outward to handle the growing baby and birth, its mostly unnoticeable, except when trying to get comfortable for sleep!
  • @charlotte989875 I absolutely loathe being pregnant. None of it is fun or enjoyable. I'm so stinkin excited to be a mom and have this baby, but the whole being pregnant part is not great. And up until a few weeks ago, my pregnancy was relatively easy and stress-free so it's not like I even had a lot to complain about.

NYE was uneventful. H and I stayed home - I'm too tired and achey to do much and was asleep by 11. The in-laws invited us over but we took a hard pass - their drinking is out of control lately and we had no desire to deal with it.

Yesterday we had the laziest day. Aside from taking a couple hours to take all of the Christmas stuff down and clean the floors, we did absolutely nothing but binge on It's Always Sunny and cuddle the dogs. I did place two very large Target and Amazon orders to round out the last of the things we need for the baby. Need to pack hospital bags in the next few days just in case we get told she needs to come early.
  • Back to the grind today (schools reopened). It was nice to get back.  Making dinner now and toying with running to old Navy tonight to have the security tags taken off some clothes I bought a few days ago.  The cashier only removed about half of them...luckily I have the receipt.
  • Congratulations @Casadena!!!!

We had a very low-key NYE.  Our little boy decided to make his appearance 2 weeks ago so we have been figuring out how to manage everything.  He is perfect and healthy and beautiful and we love him so much!!!  Both of us are doing well, and i'm feeling a little more normal every day - which is great.

I haven't caught up on many posts, but hopefully everyone had nice holidays!
    Congratulations!
