Hey guys, I’m in a situation with my planner and am curious to see what you guys would do.
Essentially we made a plan B for our August wedding and told our planner that we’re moving the reception to next August 2021 if need be, but don’t plan on making any hard final decisions till end of June. They got back to us saying that a) if we postpone they will be charging us an extra 25% so they can “cover the costs of their planners not working during this time” and b) if we choose to wait to figure stuff out, they can’t put any date on hold for us (so basically putting a gun to our head saying postpone now or you might not get us next year). Then a follow up email was sent a few days later saying someone was interested in our day next year and wondering what we wanted to do.
With all that, I was a little turned off by that whole situation. From being put between a rock and a hard place, I emailed a different company that we had turned down just because they were simply too expensive. After explaining our situation, they instantly said they’d hold either date for us (this year and/or next) and they’re honouring their Initial quote From last year (AND no covid fee is being charged to ANY of their clients). They’re just really going above and beyond for us already and we aren’t even their clients yet.
SO WITH THAT.. our situation, what would you do?
scenario A) where we don’t have to postpone and are allowed to move forward with our wedding so prices will remain the same HOWEVER, I’m stuck with these planners that have put a bad taste in my mouth already and I feel kinda icky about them
or
scenario b) just let these guys go no matter what and just feel at ease with the new people I trust and feel good with, whether or not it will cost us a little bit more.
