Thirsty Thursday

I'm in conference calls back to back all day and will definitely need a cocktail when it's over.  Gorgeous day here today so hoping to get outside this evening for a bit!  What does everyone else have going on?

Re: Thirsty Thursday

  • Feeling in a funk today. I did sleep really well last night. I could have gone for another hour or two though. I wanted a drink last night but instead I did a good workout. Not sure if I needed that or if I should have just had the beer. Ha.

  • Ugh, same. So. Many. Meetings. I have one break now and another at 3:30.

But I’m taking tomorrow off and my plan is to run, nap, read, and eat snacks. Nothing else. Well, pet the cat and dog. That’s it.
  • H has the big town hall today where they find out the extent of layoffs/furloughs. I'm on pins and needles. We will be ok if we lose his income for the short term, but his role is pretty specialized and he'd have a hard time finding something similar with comparable salary even in a good market. I'm really hoping that if he is impacted it's short term or partial.

Other than that, SSDD. Work is still busy. It's a little cooler than it's been, but sunny. I'm hoping to get back into nightly walks tonight. Between working late, projects and rain we haven't been in almost a week.

My dog kept barking during the night.  But not constant, just a bark or two to wake me up, then she would stop and I would fall back asleep.  And then again later.  Somehow she escaped from our room and she was downstairs.  I think she has figured out how to push on the door to get it open.  We've been trying to teach my rabbits how to push on doors to open them for months and they just aren't interested, but apparently the dog was paying attention.

It's getting cold here again.  We will have freezing temperatures for the next few days overnight.

  • lol @kerbohl.  Super cute!
@MyNameIsNot eeek im keeping my fingers crossed that everything is ok for you guys

tonight I have a zoom chat after work. Then the solution I bought came in to take my own hair extensions out so I guess I should do that. Any tips from anyone who ever had tape extensions in? I bought the 2 step remover.

Our company wide call is today for a timeline on when we’re expected to go back to work.  Our office created a group text awhile ago and today someone posted a video of one of our coworkers dancing in the office from a few months ago. I miss those guys! (All but one, but I’ll take her in order to have the laughter, communication and chatter we used to have)

I kept double-booking myself today with meetings and grocery pickup but somehow it has worked out so far. Tonight from 7-8 both DH and I have grocery pickups and I have a book club zoom call. Fingers crossed Baby B goes down to bed ok so this can all work correctly.

Baby B has a dentist appt next week. I despise taking him to the dentist bc he is so bad but I know I need to continue anyway. They're just opening back and limiting people inside so it will be interesting to seehow it goes.
  • I get really annoyed when I deal with our sales staff who want to think that lead times are absurd.   Dude - I'm sorry that the reality sucks but that's what it is.

The conspiracy theories that are peppering my FB today are too much!

    Awww warm butt snuggles @short+sassy

  • Curious about recommendations on a couple things!
    1. does anyone have a roomba/similar vacuum?  Is it worth it/do you like it?  Does it replace or just supplement regular vacuuming?  Obviously baby is crawling/rolling everywhere and since we're home all the time it feel like there's fuzz and hair all over way more than normal.  We have no pets but lots of carpet.
    2. Pajamas? Looking for a cute/functional PJ set. Definitely shorts - but most i find are way too short.  Don't really care if it's tank/short/long sleeve.
I will post prudie in a few if no one has yet.
  • I don’t have the brand Roomba @Casadena, but I have a knock off that had good reviews.  Honesty, Its good for a clean in-between a clean but don’t expect fabulous.  Plus I have to roombaproof my place and shut all my bedroom doors, lift up my drapes so it doesnt get caught in that - and if it goes under the bed - forget about getting that back any time soon.
i haven’t used mine in years.

  • @Casadena
    1) I don't have one but several of my friends do and say it has changed their life, won't live without one now. Idk the brands off the top of my head but they are definitely worth it.

    2) check out Bonds Wondersuits. Our Australian friends turned us on to them and they are seriously the best PJ.

I keep waiting for them to have "spoon snuggles", but neither myself nor my H have seen that yet.  If not sooner, we're betting that happens when it gets colder in winter.

My H and I also laugh when the kitten will swat at Izzy's wagging tail.  It's funny when cats do that anyway, but has just a bit of extra sass because Maple doesn't even have a tail.

  • @Casadena we gave DD and SIL a roomba for Christmas a couple of years ago. They don't use it. Their house has a traditional layout and they have baby gates up to separate the back of the house from the front. With the twins running around it just didn't make sense to set it up.

I have the iRoomba and I love it. It doesn’t completely replace vacuuming since we have a long hair cat and cat, but it keeps everything clean during the week so we don’t have to worry about doing that during the work week. We do a deep clean every two weeks or so?

I LOVE the J Crew cotton pajamas, both the pants/sleeve and the shorts/short sleeved. They’re light enough so they don’t feel really heavy but also look and feel really nice! They go on sale on the Factory site pretty often.

Mine only ever snuggle side by side.  This photo is actually a weird pairing - usually my brown one snuggles with the white one on the left, and my fuzzy gray one and the white one on the right are always together.

    Good luck to your H @MyNameIsNot !
    Okay @short+sassy that's freaking adorable!!!
@Casadena I don't have a roomba but one of my sisters as well as one of my cousins have it and they both rave about it.  Neither have pets though.  And it sounds crazy but my favorite pj sets are all from Target.  And one winter-weather set from Lands End.

SSDD.  Thursday is a light day for me (only one live session with students) so it's kind of become my favorite day of the workweek.  It's an insanely beautiful spring-weather day by me so the kids and I got in a lot of planting, watering things, playing in dirt (that one just them lol).  Came in so I could put in a bit more work aka peruse TK...I have homemade pizzas on the menu for tonight and I think I'm going to make them on the grill instead of turning on the oven.  And try and get the kids to eat outside so the kitchen doesn't need to be cleaned.

Roomba: I got one 3 years ago, DH bought some super fancy Samsung one and then hated it. It got stuck on everything and he'd get so mad we never used it as a result. I'd still like to try it again but don't want to deal with his grumpiness about it. Definitely wish he'd gotten a regular roomba and cheaper model because this was super expensive
  • I was looking at the gorgeous full moon last night with SO and the brightness hurt my eyes.

I couldn't be more Seattle if I made out with skinny latte while dancing a burlesque number in a flannel nightgown to Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit while sorting the recycling.

  • @Casadena I assumed you meant PJs for baby. While I bet you would look fucking adorable in a Wondersuit, I doubt you need cuffs that fold over into footie pajamas. 🙈🤦‍♀️
LOL, I definitely looked them up and was very confused for a minute until i realized you thought I meant baby PJs :)
  • I'm with you @MyNameIsNot that it can feel odd to celebrate when others aren't as fortunate.   But the small celebration at home is hopefully good for you two!
  • @MyNameIsNot, that is great news for you all!  I hope his job stays safe until we're finally out of this, but it sounds like this was the main cut to make it through.  On that same thought, hopefully his coworkers who were affected will be back to full hours/full pay/off furlough, as soon as possible.
