Monday Motivation?

I basically have none. It’s hot and humid here and I’m a million weeks pregnant. I also have zero meetings on my calendar so basically I’m on the internet. I’m going to try and get some required compliance training out of the way today.

How was everyone’s weekend?

Saturday my sister and best friend did a surprise drive by shower for me! I had zero idea, they planned it all with H. Drive by the house with a parade of family then dropped of cupcakes and decorations. My sister, mom, and friend stayed and hung out on our back porch for a bit (from a safe distance!). It was so nice and completely unexpected.

I was so tired though I did nothing yesterday. Well I read the entirety of Little Fires Everywhere. That’s it.

How sweet about the drive by, surprise shower! So thoughtful!

I am also team no motivation. Quarantine is over so B is back to daycare. Even though I have a bunch of stuff to catch up on I just want to sit and do nothing in a quiet house! Seriously how have yall done this for months, not even 2 full weeks had me exhausted. The first few days were OK but I was done by the middle of last week.
  • @charlotte989875 so sweet and so cute! Did you cry? I would lol

Weekend was good. Original plans mostly went to hell, half due to weather.
Saturday ended up being too hot for the splash pad {40*C = 104*F} but I did get a new phone. Didn't end up having a choice, my phone froze and crashed causing me to not do ANYTHING.
    I got S20
Oh, and M donated blood :) Things went smoother than last time apparently, so that's good.

Sunday we went to my mum's in the morning and BabyKitten played in the pool. We got home, she had a snack and went for nap. I fell asleep too lol

More on the house stuff, M has to do the basement stuff and unfortunately unless he sorts through it or figures it out, I cannot help him AT ALL.

Here's another house we won't get but we love

This is approx a couple blocks away from us now. Walk to daycare is actually closer than where we are now.
I really like this house and I just get so frustrated we aren't at a spot to sell :(

How close are you to being in a place to list your house?

I didn’t but I’m not a big crier in front of people to begin with. I did cry yesterday when I didn’t sleep well and stubbed my toe on a new, rolled up carpet.
  • @charlotte989875 That was so sweet of them!

Another one here with nothing on my calendar and no motivation. The weekend was nice. Saturday we hung out all day and did nothing (it was glorious). Yesterday my dad came over and my in-laws came down. They enjoyed seeing the baby on Father's day. I do hope next weekend is a little cooler so we can be outside more. It was way too hot to do anything here this past weekend.
  • Aww!  I love the drive-by shower idea. That's amazing! How sweet and thoughtful.

Weekend was all right.  DH's father's day gift came Friday night and since it was so big, we just gave it to him.

Saturday, I worked.  DH, FIL, and the kids went to a party at FIL's friend's house.  I got a pedicure and puttered around the house.  They got home pretty late and then we stayed up *super* late.

Sunday, I made brunch for DH and FIL.  We went to my sister's for dinner.

DH passed his audit with flying colors and his boss told him to take me out to dinner and expense it.  I say that's nice and all, but show the man the money.  LOL  We also have to be strategic about when we go out.  I told DH we should go somewhere midweek so we can get a seat outside and avoid crowds.  We haven't dined in anywhere since March.

SIL and nieces are coming Wednesday.   They'll be in town for 2 weeks.  They're staying with us most of the time, with the exception of a couple days at her IL's.

  • I had a so-so weekend, because last Friday my phone line went dead for some unknown reason and a technician came and fixed it (U-verse). I was here when he did and then went to work. But on Saturday morning it was gone again along with my internet and cable. I had to schedule another technician appointment for this morning and try to work from home for a while because of an error by either the first technician or U-verse. Meanwhile I had no cable or telephone and had to use a mobile hotspot to connect to the internet.

And as of this morning, the county judge of Harris County, Texas, reinstated the mask order for everyone (should never have been rescinded).

I guess it could have been worse because I had a nice Father's Day with my dad.

But I feel sour this morning.

I'm an emotional person BUT I was worse when pregnant lmfao

Depending how quick we can basically get people in to start dealing with stuff.
New stove soon, and once that's in we can figure out about 4 appliances to get out of the house.
    Then contractor. Then painter.
    We estimated a year total but that could easily be 6m but we're debating on a bunch of stuff extra to do {counters, cabinets?, handles, hinges - aesthetic things}

Sadly we cannot get this house. All offers by tomorrow.

Count me in for unmotivational Monday. I was up at 6:15, stayed awake but just watched the news instead of working out.  I always tell myself I can do it on my lunch “break”.  Have to get back in the groove of first thing in the morning though. Weekend was good.  My parents came and helped me do things around the house.  My yard mostly.  Because I hate yard upkeep. I grilled out Saturday and made Dad an ice cream cake.  Sunday took them out for lunch before they left.  The place was unsurprisingly not busy.

Those shower props are so cute @charlotte989875.  How nice! I probably would have cried too.  Lol
@MissKittyDanger, sorry about the house stuff.  Maybe getting newel things will help you feel good about living there while you wait a bit more?

  • Awww @charlotte989875 that is so sweet!
@mrsconn23 that sounds like a lovely weekend!
@VarunaTT congratulations on the visible floor! That is such a huge accomplishment. I am currently resisting the urge to move all our furniture around and reorganize our shelves/storage. It feels so good to have everything put together. ☺️

Yesterday was the first official day of summer so now I like to start counting down until fall, lol. I actually don't mind summers here but when it's 50*C you need all the convincing you can get, lol.

The gov't has extended the emirate wide travel ban and business restrictions for another week. Everyone is holding their breath waiting for things to reopen here because basically everything in Dubai is open. I am sure they have their reasons for keeping things closed but communication is not their strong suit.

My life is pretty much the same. SuTuTh I ride "my" horse, MoWed I go to the gym, and everyday I cook/laundry/ parent/ try to sew. Rinse Repeat.
  • @charlotte989875 I love the drive-by shower idea. How sweet!

@MyNameIsNot I love the dog birthday party!

Had a good weekend. Went out Friday for some outdoor dining with my 3 best friends. The town was also having a Juneteenth celebration too, so that was fun.

Saturday was the anniversary dinner w/ my parents. I'm glad to say it was so much fun, and I didn't get emotional once!

Sunday I swam at my brother's and basically spent the whole day in the pool.

All in all, a good weekend.
  • @MyNameIsNot omg look at those little party hats! <3

@CharmedPam yeh we're basically looking at it as extra time to do other stuff and up the price. Apparently we're still in bidding war for some homes, so it'd be nice to up our price, lower some debt, etc
  • Love the shower idea and decorations @charlotte989875!

Weekend was fine. Had carry out from our fave Italian restaurant for dinner last night (DH's choice). Got some house cleaning done and some reading on the porch done. DH just finished refinishing a side table that was my Mom's. It has some water rings on it but they have disappeared now! Yay I don't have to buy a new table for the living room. We are still waiting on the delivery of the second new chair we ordered in February. I really like how the room has come together.

Ugh, that sounds awful. I went through Doha last year and it was like 45. It felt like being in an oven. I don't know how you do it day in-day out.
  • The drive by shower is so sweet.

Those hats are killing me @MyNameIsNot

This weekend was busy. I need a weekend from my weekend. I cleaned out the fridge and pantry, and did some other house work which took me a good amount of time. On Saturday FI trapped the kitten that has been in our backyard and stressing him out. It’s pretty sick and malnourished. We contacted the local rescue and they can’t take him for four weeks so I guess we’re fostering him now. Uhhh. He needed IV fluids, antibiotics, de-wormed, and de-flead. I would like to keep him in the garage until he gets shots but that isn’t feasible with how hot it’s getting here. So now we have to bring him inside and quarantine him in the den, which is still a risk to the other cats. Not exactly how I wanted to be spending my days when I get home from work. He will be a sweetie though and I’m glad we got him while he can still be rehabilitated to being around people.

Otherwise SSDD. Still waiting on my second test to result.

  • I love the shower! That's so great. You're due in July, right? It's creeping up soon!

I have no motivation either. It was another busy weekend, and I'm exhausted. I need to "schedule" a day this weekend to do nothing; it's been too long. Friday we ran a few errands and got groceries, then took the dog to the park and had a late dinner at home. Saturday we got up early and went out to SIL's to retrieve a bed that she can't take and say goodbye before they move. It's an hour each way, so that was a half day errand. Then we did a ton of yard work, cleaned the house, and put up hanging lights on the deck. (I'm obsessed with the lights.) Yesterday picked up the last party supplies, decorated, prepped food in the morning and then had the dogs' birthday in the afternoon. It was a lot, but OMG it was so cute. I didn't get to bed until midnight last night, so I wish I had the day off today to recover.

    Dog birthday, because I'm ridiculous.

August 5, but I just have a feeling he’s coming earlier. I’m taking the last week of July as PTO so I can nap but I just think he’ll be here then.

Those hats are the beat and everyone should celebrate per birthdays!
  • @MyNameIsNot OMG I love GSPs. Their little hats are too cute!

It's not 50 everyday, 45 is pretty normal though. It's a humid heat, which I actually prefer, but I compare it to Reverse Winter. Basically everything is inside, you just go from one (insanely cold) air conditioned building to to car to another air conditioned building. You stay in, watch movies, do crafts then in September/October every goes outside and we have amazing weather every day until May/June.

    2 things
    1 - i feel you. It's been 40*C here

2 - I'm surprised they're opening stuff. My daycare's daughter is working there for Expo and they've stopped everything last we knew.

I should have said "open with restrictions" but tbh, I haven't been paying too close of attention of what goes on there because it doesn't directly affect me, lol. I know that Dubai's beaches are open and ours are closed. Their hotels and pools are open and most of our are closed... Our restaurants are open but with restrictions, I assume they are the same way. I know it's not Open like in the States (I know nothing about what Canada has done) but compared to 2 months ago, things are opening, restrictions are being loosened.

    Ontario is only JUST in phase 2 but other provinces have hit phase 2 not long ago, but they were lower hit {Ontario and Quebec hit hardest - Toronto and Montreal specifically}

I also took a nap at lunch today, which is also a nice silver lining of a quiet WFH.

That's so sweet @charlotte989875! I'm glad you ended up getting some semblance a shower!  @MyNameIsNot that photo is adorable and I love pet birthday parties!  I also liked how you called it a pawty on the Friday post...as a Noo Yawka it's nice to see words spelled phonetically  ;)
    Happy anniversary @short+sassy !
Long pool day for the kids and me.  H agreed to my parents being in our quarantine bubble just in time, it's going to be in the 80s here all week.  (I'm sure that's nothing compared to what 45-50 C is, but I'm a huge wimp with heat and really can't take it.)
