Wedding Woes

It’s Friday ya’ll

Friday’s mean something to me now that I’m back in the office.  Weekends mean something for me!

The doc on my daily news station this morning said that while our numbers are “good”, comparing them to other states, we should still be worried because our infection #’s are still going up and not down.  Look, if we go back a phase I will NOT be happy. I just started to get hair and lash extensions, and it’s a pro industry for sure.

Other than that, I bought some cuuuuute clothes after seeing an advertisement on facebook for a clothing company called Venus. 3 fall things and a summer top.  But then I read reviews (I have to stop doing this after I purchase it) and it’s a complete mix of good and bad.  Most of the bad reviews are about customer service but a lot of complaints about quality.  And then some 5 stars about great quality? Guess I’ll find out! It’s not a cheap site either. Things were decently priced, like what I’d pay at a Macy's sale (average $25/item). Just some super cute and unique designs, which made me buy. Anyone order from them?

  • I think our keurig is ready to die, but I'm not ready to accept it yet - it's only 2yrs old. I'm getting the descaling solution soon and hopefully that will help.
I'm making extra cold brew in case it does soon.

Making bread with our Cuisinart :) It's weird a.f lmao
Just white bread. I miss bread lmao

M's 30th bday is Tuesday. I have donuts coming today, tomorrow we have to stop by my mum's for pnp and bumbo, plus she has a gift for him.

Sunday M will probably swing by and set up pnp at MIL's place.

I hear you on all of that @cupcait927 , glad you'll have some self-care time
No better smell than bread baking in the kitchen @MissKittyDanger  That's so nice @charlotte989875 !  I haven't heard of the company @CharmedPam but I hope the clothes work out!

TGIF.  Nothing really happening here.  Had a good text conversation with my sister and a similarly-aged cousin with similarly-aged kids (we have a daily, constant text going) about the anxieties and stressors regarding back-to-school.  It always feels good to say (well, type) things and hear others' thoughts.
We're supposed to have rain and storms all day and I'd love that.  There's been a chance of rain in the forecast for two weeks and it's done nothing more than drizzle, 2 or 3 times.  We need a drenching.  Hope everyone has a nice weekend!
  • We are ready (or not ready?) for the tropical storm to hit.   I didn't hear from FIL but hopefully he's tied the boat down.   Rain looks to be bad into tomorrow morning and we may see tornadoes in state too.

I'm TIRED.   I feel like the last few weeks of work stress are making me want to sleep it off.  My hope is to start making croissants today so tomorrow morning there's a breakfast delicacy ready to go.
  • Happy Friday everyone.

We have had a good day. It was our friends' daughter's 1st birthday a few weeks ago but her party was today. It started at 11 and we got there late at 11:30. By 1, DS was putting on his shoes and asking to leave because his nap is normally around 12:30. Luckily we live pretty much next door so DH took him home and put him down for his nap while I finished eating. Then I tagged DH out so he could socialize a bit, I get way more opportunities to see my friends than he does. About 3, DS woke up and we went back to the party. (It was not really a party, all attendees were already in our small circle)  Everyone was getting out of the pool but DH took DS in for a bit, then we had cake and everyone had to go. We hung around for a bit, played a couple games of pool, and chatted.
  • I'm so glad it's Friday. This 5 day work week was rough, y'all!

Nothing much going on this weekend. Our team plays their first game in the MLS tournament tomorrow night, so we'll get together with my side of the family and have a watch party on my sister's deck. I'll also get to take the pup and let her play with her sister.

Otherwise I'm looking forward to getting some chores done around the house and getting some time to just chill. I'd love to do some cooking or baking, but it's too damned hot. We're dying to replace the light fixture in the dining room, so I may venture out to start shopping for that. I did also buy some sconces to replace the ugly ones that were here. I've been putting off installing them because they're on the same breaker as the router and we rely on internet for every damned thing, but maybe we'll get to that Sunday.
  • That’s really good to hear @cupcait927, the reviews on their site were good but I was like waaaaait a minute, they’re not going to post bad ones!
@missJeanLouise, that is just too cute.  Most kids fight sleep/naps and DS is telling you it’s time to go!
@levioosa who cares if date night was the motivation!  You DID it!!!

i’m so sick of meal planning. So little to eat when your low carbing.  I did love my low cost everyplate, but I couldn’t handle the carbs.  All meal kits that do paleo, low carb or keto are WAY to expensive for basically a stir fry recipe. Any ideas from fellow carb watchers?

@levioosa Hugs right back. Everyone working in healthcare right now are saints for all that you're doing.

@CharmedPam I don't watch my carbs, but I'm obsessed with recipes from Skinnytaste. She has a huge library of recipes and you can search by specific diets. Everything is usually pretty easy to make and she provides a lot of variety.

I hope you can get that break @cupcait927 I've been having similar feelings recently and my parents had B last weekend which was nice even though I felt a bit lost without him. I'm drained from work and then parenting on top of it can just be so tough

Thanks for this!  I got a few ideas and will be cooking up a storm this weekend!!!

  • I'm exhausted!  Busy week at work.  Busy with my own real estate business on every work break, lunch, and after work, lol.  I'm doing showings tomorrow for a few hours, so there goes some of my Sat.  But, Sunday.  SUNDAY!  That is my one day of rest, lol.  I'll still reply to rental ad responses if we still have it for rent, but I'm not going out anywhere.

I think we have a live one, though (squee!).  A person dropped their application off yesterday and my H really liked them.  They're self-employed which is always a little concerning.  But my H talked to him today.  They're meeting tomorrow morning for my H to look at his 2019 tax return and collect the security deposit to hold the house.  They also agreed to pay first and last month's rent on move-in.  Normally I just require first and security, but that is for someone who has a W-2 job with verifiable income and decent credit.  I don't know about their credit, they'll still need to complete the "official" background check.  I use a 3rd party website for that and it pulls the stuff I can't get for free, ie eviction/criminal/credit reports.  But, so far, things are looking good!

We also like them because they are currently living with family about two doors down, so they are already familiar with the neighborhood, and are ready to move-in as soon as the background check is done and the lease is signed.  I like to start leases on either the 1st or the 15th, so that would be so sweet to have them move-in on Wed. (July 15th), assuming everything works out (crossing fingers).

  • The week has been crazy.  I've had lots of work to do, so I was focusing on that.  Sitting in the recliner doing my work is so great though!    I'm watching lots of new stuff and am starting to watch some of the documentaries on Netflix.  This week I've watched Hamilton, multiple Marvel movies, the Umbrella Academy and Evil Genius (with re-watching episodes of Parks & Rec and West Wing in between).  I am now just starting The Keepers.  And I've watched all of that while getting paid and working.

This weekend we have an outdoor party for my Godson who is making his first communion.  It will be a small party and I'm happy that I will get to see my BFF in person again!  We did a few zoom game nights and a drive by birthday parade for one of her sons, but in person is so much better.  H and I are going to try and go out to dinner for his birthday on Saturday night, but with the rain from today and tomorrow, I don't know if it will happen.  NJ is all outdoor dining right now and even with the tents, it might not be a good time to go.  MIL is supposed to watch DD.

Next week DD and I will go down to my parents shore house on Monday.  H has to work and doesn't have the extra PTO anyway.  It should be a fun week for us, I'm sure!  We will do the beach a few times probably and eat lots of ice cream!
  • @charlotte989875 That is so cool!

@short+sassy Good luck! I hope this turns out to be a good new tenant!

@OliveOilsMom That outdoor party sounds really cool too!

No special plans for myself. But I got some new clothes (restocking my wardrobe has been something in the works for a long time).

  • @VarunaTT and @levioosa, thanks for those recs.

Confession: I never worked with spaghetti squash before.  I hear it’s easy and you just nuke it to soften it, and a fork should peel out the strings - But I always thought that wouldn’t happen with me

Lol it’s super easy. The hardest part is being safe when cutting it half (lengthwise). I made FI learn how to do it the other day because I was tired of prepping on my own. It’s not hard at all. I roast mine instead of microwaving it, but that’s just a personal preference.

Working with spaghetti squash is SO easy! I microwave it on the days it's too hot to turn the oven on, otherwise I roast it like @levioosa does. When you go to shred it, if it doesn't come out easily, just cook it a little longer until it does. I love it with pesto and pine nuts and with spaghetti sauce as well. It's delicious.
