Wedding Woes

Monday again

I'm an aunt again- my amazing sister rocked pandemic pregnancy and L&D and had her sweet boy a couple hours ago.  Everyone is doing well.  What my mom and other sister can't get over is today is her actual due date- that almost never happens!  Sis and BIL requested Covid tests from anyone who wants to visit once they're home (no visitors allowed in the hospital of course), so Aunt Eileen is off to get tested.

Hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend and is feeling healthy!

Re: Monday again

  • Congratulations @ei34

Weekend was good. Saturday my mom came over to visit with the baby. My grandma was supposed to come with her but wasn't feeling well when the time came. After she left, we took DD over to my inlaws house, dropped her off, and then H and I went to a couple of breweries. We stayed socially distanced, wore masks, and it was so nice to have a little date time for a couple of hours.

Yesterday we spent all day hanging around the house. It was too hot to do anything outside and I don't feel comfortable going to any beaches because they're packed. Next weekend is finally supposed to be cooler so hopefully we can get DD outside more.
  • This weekend was toooooo short.  Saturday I sat on my butt all day and it was glorious.  Sunday we did a few house chores/errands.  K was on a cleaning/organizing kick and took care of 90% of the laundry and I was more than happy to let them. I started watching Into the Badlands and wooooooooow, why wasn't I already watching this?!?!  I'm 3 episodes in and I'm pretty sure I'm going to binge watch this entire thing this week.  My BFF called me on Sunday and I so needed to talk with him, so that was really lovely.  I've taken some hard hits these past few months and having someone who has been on your "side" for 20+ years, while also being the person who will absolutely call you out when necessary, still love you for that long is an important reminder of who I am.

Otherwise, SSDD.  Back at work.  My work BFF might be leaving and I totally support and understand why, but damn it's going to suck.
  • Congrats, @ei34!

We're hoping to do a little bit of beach time in Delaware next week after my brother gets married in Baltimore this weekend. We'll see. You all are cute, @banana468.

    congrats @ei34

    Cute pic @banana468

Weekend was pretty good. Saw my niece play softball Friday night, then took B to watch her play Saturday. Normally she plays on the other side of town so I never get to go so this was nice. I really need to make more of an effort for stuff like this.  Took B swimming at my parents' on Sunday which was nice. He was braving and loved being on his own with his puddlejumper and then even jumping in the pool.
  • Congratulations @ei34!!! Hope your sister and baby are doing well! That’s fun she actually went on her due date!

Sounds like a really great time @banana468!! How cool that there is a boat-only beach nearby for the kids to explore.
  • I had a great long weekend. H and I took a half day on Thursday and just ran around. He really wants to buy a pool table, so we poked into a couple of stores. I was hoping to find one used and not have to spend a ton of money, but it sounds like that's a bigger endeavor than I thought. Then we took the dog and sat outside at a nearby brewery. The pup lost her head when another dog showed up, resulting in H losing a full beer.

Friday H worked while had had a vacation day, so I took the dog to the park, binge watched West Wing, and just had some very needed time to myself. Yesterday I had brunch here with a friend, then went to the pool and to my sister's for dinner. I stayed too late at my sister's, so I'm dragging today.

We also started the Morning Show on apple tv this weekend. I should probably put that in the entertainment thread, but Jennifer Anniston and Reese Witherspoon are good together.

    It's a lot of fun!

It's also next to a private beach association where the owners in town live in houses that can hold about four of my houses inside them and they're on the water.    And where we do is just natural so the beach is rocky but the kids LOVE it.   And all the local boaters know that's a place to get to that's only about a 30 minute boat ride from most marinas.

And it makes social distancing SUPER easy.
  • Congrats! @ei34

Weekend was really good. I’m bummed it’s over. Saturday FSIL and I did a hike. Then she and FBIL came over and we hung out and had dinner and drinks. Yesterday we still felt like hanging out so they stayed another day. It was really fun and relaxing. It almost felt like vacation. I’m a little tired today but otherwise I’m feeling good.

  • @ei34, congrats!

@CharmedPam, I saw on the Fri. thread that your date seemed to go well!

I had a good weekend, but it felt too busy and I don't think I relaxed enough.  It was POURING rain on Friday, so I cut my errands short and moved half of them to Sat.  Both Fri. and Sat. took way longer to get stuff done than I expected, so they both felt like way too full days.

Unfortunately, this is also going to be a busy week.  I'm leaving work three hours early on Tues.  Not for fun, but because I got the opportunity to pick up a mystery shopping route that pays $110.  But it's four locations that all need to be finished by 6PM.  Then on Wed., I'm taking a couple hours off mid-morning because it's move-in day for our new tenants...except only one is going to be there (roommate situation), ugh.  Plus I have one last mystery shop from the previous day's route that makes more sense to do Wed.  So then Thurs. after work, I'm going back to the rental house to meet up with the other tenant.

In addition, one of these evenings I also need to meet up with the tenant moving into our 3rd unit.  We need to do the lease signing and there is also paperwork we need to fill out together for her to get things rolling with Section 8.  They're the ones who are REALLY going to take forever, so it's important we get that going ASAP.  I'm waiting for her and her adult children...over 18, but college students, so still dependents...to finish their background checks.  A little annoyed they aren't done yet, because I sent the link on Fri.

It's only Monday and I'm already yearning to just fast forward to Friday, lol!

I'm also planning to take a random vacation day next week.  I need another FULL relaxation day!  I also need to re-figure out how many vacation hours I will have left/will accrue through Sept. 30th, so I can plan out keeping my total below 160 hours.

  • You wont be around here tomorrow then @STARMOON44, so have a great relaxing bday on the beach!

  • Congrats @ei34!

Happy birthday @STARMOON44!  Enjoy your beach day!

Friday, we had an extremely chill night at home after we picked up BBQ from our fave place.

Saturday, we slept in and then did our normal shopping/chores.  We went to my sister's for dinner.  My dad's best friend was in town.

Sunday, up early and went out boating.  It was fun, but we were tired AF last night.

Poor DH is just on the struggle bus with his skin and the poison ivy and allergic reactions to meds.  He's itchy and miserable.

FIL had brain surgery today today to fix a tremor.  He's OK, has a headache.  DH took him.  We're going to need to check on him a lot the next couple weeks while he's recovering.

School starts Thursday.  I'm having all the feelings about it.  I really hope all the anti-maskers who swear their kids won't wear one ever will home school their kids (omg one of the worst instigators on our local page lives across the damn street from us).  These teachers don't need their shit.

  • The guy holding the flag is someone I went to HS with and his mom was a teacher of mine.  He wrote an amazing post about the protests in Portland from his POV.

@mrsconn23 what is DH using for poison ivy? Mine got it over a week ago but had a delayed reaction and says it keeps getting worse somehow. I keep telling him to go to urgent care to try to get some meds.

His poison ivy is clearing, but he's had an allergic reaction to the steroids, antibiotics, or both.  Plus the weather being so hot and sticky accelerated the hives.  He basically needs to stay inside and not sweat and take allergy meds (claritin and benadryl).
