We made it!  Good luck @charlotte989875!  Sending all the 'get out baby!' vibes.

DH is leaving this afternoon for his guy's trip.  I'm having dad, my nephew, and a family friend over for dinner.  The kiddo may come too, but I'm not holding my breath.  He's been here the last 2 nights.  A 3rd might cramp his style.  LOL

Tomorrow, we may stop by the raceway to see DH's aunt and uncle and watch some drag racing trials.  Other than that, we'll see what we get into.

What's up for the weekend, y'all?

Re: FRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY!

  • Good luck @charlotte989875

Not much planned for the weekend. Still trying to take it easy and rest. I do have a nail appointment tomorrow morning - my favorite place is finally open. I'm so excited!
  • Good luck @charlotte989875! Not much going on - same old same old. I've played with the idea of getting  a pedicure, @climbingwife but I haven't been brave enough yet.
  • I got one a couple months ago, @ILoveBeachMusic. Masks all around and there were plastic partitions in front of the chairs. They made me wash my hands as soon as I walked in.  So it felt rather low-risk.  But I totally understand the hesitation.  Each time I do something 'new' in COVID times, I always stress about it a little.
  • I'm so happy the weekend is upon us! I'm looking forward to a baby announcement next week!

Tonight, probably porch wine with some friends, but they're allergic to making plans, so we'll see. Tomorrow yard work, errands, and then debating a pedicure. It's been 6 months and my feet look like hell. Sunday trying to go tubing on the river again.

I went to another place in my town a few weeks and it felt very safe. I was one of only a few people there. They had installed giant partitions, workers in shields, masks and all that. It seems that all of the places around here have done that.

Performing in another online play reading. Also have a reading in my online synagogue service tomorrow morning.

Next week is the birthday of a friend, so she and I and another friend are trying to decide what to do. No decisions yet. I decided to just go with the flow (more or less).
  • Yay @charlotte989875 I hope everything is smooth sailing for you today.  Fingers crossed!

@banana468 yay for power!!  Glad it's finally back on for you guys.

MIL is here today as i finish up the last of my quarterly craziness.  i have calls til noon then i'm going to snuggle the crap (as much as you can snuggle a baby who's not super snuggly) out of my kid since i haven't seen him much the last few weeks.

H has to give a huge presentation/teach a class tomorrow for a professional org he's a part of.  I asked IL's if they would want to take the baby for the day and i'm SO EXCITED to be truly alone at my own house for the first time in months.  It will be amazing.  I can't decide if I want to sit around and not do anything or be super productive and do ALL the things.  It's so weird to have a choice. .
  • Good luck @charlotte989875

@Casadena enjoy the alone time! That will be wonderful even if you just sit around and do nothing.
  • Sending you all of the good vibes @charlotte989875! Yay baby!

    Enjoy the alone time @casadena

I haven’t gone to get my nails done since March. I ended up buying all of the gel polish and the Gelish lamp so I’ve been doing them myself and tbh they’ve looked pretty good. I am not a fan of doing my own pedicures though and I really miss the routine of getting them done and relaxing.

I’m excited for the weekend. FSIL and her FI are coming over. Tonight we’re mostly just relaxing since FSIL still has to work for a few hours in the morning. Then we plan on having a fun Saturday night with games and cheat meals. I just have to get through work today, then a walk with FSIL after work and then it’s all relaxing from there.

  • Sometimes I wonder if there's not old Knotties on here in other screen names.  LOL.

Picnic tonight and then I'm not really sure.  I have got to do the dishes and I've got some yummy meals planned.  I'd really like to go for a walk or something outside; I honestly feel like I'm just hibernating anymore.  K is excited for the date; I just told them it was date night, not anything else.  They're not good with actual surprises, so I try to do the advance warning without telling thing.  Which honestly is good for me, b/c I'm terrible at keeping surprises to myself.
  • @VarunaTT what makes you think that?

I've decided to paint the ugly tile in our half bath.  It's on the floor and halfway up the wall.  We painted the upper half drywall a much better color (light grey) and i'm going to paint the tile white (to cover the swirly tan/beige) and then stencil a charcoal grey design on the floor. I'm super excited. Anyone ever done that before?  I figure if it sucks, i only wasted like $50 since our only other option was to demo and totally gut it.
  • Now I'm torn on what to do tonight. The porch night idea came up because one of my friends texted the group that she is husband and child free tonight. Another mom friend chimed in that her kid is with her dad this weekend, so also child free. I'm always child free, so I said I'd come. Now something happened and something else happened and both friends will have kids. (These are little kids, it's not like they're going to be playing independently.)

It's not that I don't like their kids, but hanging out with their kids is a completely different experience, especially in the evening when the kids are tired. So I'm trying to decide if bowing out makes me an asshole.

SIB: I don't think it makes you an asshole. Could you guys just move it a little later (like after kids go to bed) maybe?
  • @STARMOON44, I’m not a wine drinker anymore, but just the thought of drinks/beach/beach house sounds fab.  Enjoy your week off!
@charlotte989875, so excited for you!  Can’t wait for the news.

Boss gave us a work from home day today, so I’m about to head to the treadmill soon and then have lunch and then bake some keto carrot cake. Maybe get a load of laundry in.... That’s how you work from home right?

    I vote: NOT AN ASSHOLE

that's a totally different night than you had planned.
  • @MyNameIsNot 100% not an asshole. I have a kid and even I would be disappointed if a get-together went from no kids to kids when I was looking forward to a night away.

@Casadena What are you using to paint the tile in your bathroom? I'm looking to update our full bathroom and go basic white with black fixtures but the tile floor is a tan color that I hate. The shower tiles are also tan but I'm not doing anything about those because from what I read, painting shower tiles is a short-term solution.
  • @Casadena I've never done it, but I want to know how it turns out. Can you post before and after photos? Or you know, a full on youtube how-to video?
  • https://www.rustoleum.com/product-catalog/consumer-brands/rohome I'm going to use the Rustoleum HOME floor paint.  The base coat can be one of ~15 colors and the top coat comes in shiny or matte (I'm doing matte).  @cupcait927 they have a line specifically for tub and shower tile too - never used but it has great reviews and the pictures look good.  I will for sure take before and after!
  • @Casadena Thanks for the rec! I'm excited to see your before and after pictures.

My typical nail salon had already planned on closing after the first of the year to renovate.  They now have plexiglass partitions between each pedi chair and mani chair.  There is a plexiglass partition at the mani station.  You can only go by appointment only; no walk-in's are allowed so they can limit the amount of clients in the salon.  They take your temperature at the door.  Many of the women who work there typically wore masks even pre-Covid.  All guests must wear them now.  I've gone twice now and it definitely does a body good!  I understand your reluctance.  Perhaps call and ask them what protocols they have adopted?
