Wedding Woes

Monday morning

Hi everyone!  Work/life has been hectic, I can barely even lurk these days, but I hope everyone is doing alright.  Schools here are closed today for Yom Kippur (easy fast to @Jen4948 and anyone else observing), but as someone not part of the faith, it's just a (much-needed) 3-day weekend.  Sat and Sun were full of fall fun and too much apple baking, with some family time thrown in.  Lazy/housework day at home today.  Hope you all have a good week!

Re: Monday morning

  • my head is hurting for a couple of days, but it's tolerable.
(I am appalled that 'hurts but not bad enough for meds, I can only take them a few times a week so I'll save them in case it's worse tomorrow' has now been happening for 13 years).

The kiddo's days are improving a bit.  The district said we'll continue online or, later this month, can opt for every-other-day hybrid.  Hybrid is absolutely impossible for us.  Like if it was the only option, we'd pull her.
I still think school DL is the worst of both worlds--all the bad parts of public and homeschool, none of the good parts of either.

I'm back at work, we're tentatively re-opening appt only with less than10% of our capacity (legally we can do 50 %, safely we can't do that).
I have so many mixed feelings about it.  But I'm feeling slightly disillusioned.  While still excited (and we're hemorrhaging good people still)

My cat is currently demanding that I quit typing and pet her.
    loudy.
  • It was a good weekend here. MIL was in town. Friday we had dinner with my parents. Saturday went to the park and then worked on the project in the basement. If you ever get the opportunity to rip out some cabinets, shelves or built-ins, take it! Taking out boards with a hammer was exactly what I needed! Sadly, the demo only took about an hour, but it took another hour to clean up and then the rest of the afternoon to patch the drywall and paint. I still need to touch up the paint a little and replace the baseboard, but it's pretty much done now. Yesterday we went for a hike and to a brewery, and then just hung out and watched football.

I'm not feeling another 5 day week. How much longer until the next holiday?
  • Pretty good, but quiet weekend here. H’s birthday was Saturday but we didn’t do much. My Mom came over Thursday and we had a late lunch at a patio nearby. It was our first non- baby outing! We were also the only ones there so it felt pretty safe.

The Bills had an epic last minute win yesterday so that was fun. I’m having the worst fantasy football start ever so that is not fun!

  • @CharmedPam oh there was so much more that SFIL posted. She was on the swings, on the slide, picking dandelions <3
This child LOVES the outside and I swear I hate that we have winter because if I could get her outside daily, I would :)
  • Back to another Monday. At least it’s a short week for me. I’m taking off Friday. Weekend was good overall. I’ve been struggling on getting enough sleep. Saturday night FI and I were supposed to have date night. He went to the store around 8 and I decided to take a nap and then woke up at 9 am the next morning. Oops. I guess I really needed the sleep.

Otherwise not too much else is new here. I’m seeing BFF after work and I’m hoping I have the gusto to hang out. I probably should have stopped to get a coffee.

  • My bike is still in the box!

DH made a soccer kick board for Chiquita out of wood and we need to clean out space in the back room.   We will get there (WE WILL) but right now it's still needing assembly.  Bah!

Wow @levioosa, yea you did need that sleep!

fyi @banana468 and any spinners - in my tummy tuck support group a question was asked if any weight was lost after a TT and if results were ruined.  Someone posted a pic of her body post op, and she looked better a year + post op than she did at 1 year.  She said she started to spin and swore by it.  It really defined her waist. That’s when I was really thinking of getting the peleton.  It’s been on my mind for months!  Velocore sold me with the lean function.
Eta: i realize everyone is different and everyone’s results will be different so I may not have a bod like her by doing what she did, but my god, I’m going to try.  Lol

  • Weekend was good.  On Saturday morning I had a detox yoga class via Zoom.  It was wonderful!  We did so many spinal twists and they always feel the best!  After that H and I finished the shower door install.  Its pretty good, but not exactly like we thought it would be.  The issue is that the frame sorta wiggles, but I think its because its an adjustable frame instead of a set dimension - if that makes sense!

H suggested we go back to in person church, so we did.  We ended up sitting back in the children's room and it was ok in there, but I skipped Communion - since its back in the middle of the mass and not as you leave.  There seemed to be way more than 150 people in the church too (our current limit), even though someone was taking a count.  And now instead of every 2 pews, its every other.  Next week, we will go to church with MIL, she has said Communion is still at the end and the church is barely filled.  This may get us to switch parishes soon.  We got a new pastor and he has been pushing all the Covid rules to the max.  Instead of limiting people in church/high touch areas, he's adding back in all of the statues for prayers, normal monetary collections, putting Communion back to its normal time and other things that shouldn't be done in the age of Covid.  So far, I am not impressed with his leadership of our parish.

Sunday, we had a nice day.  DD and I went to a local garden center.  They had a bundle of hay bale, cornstalk, cornstalk bow and pumpkin for $17.  I also got 2 mums.  And the place was only 5 minutes drive!  DD had fun picking everything out with me.  H and I set up the front porch during half time of the Eagles game.  They are blowing chunks this year!  They ended in a freaking tie!  Against the Bengals!  It's going to be sad and long season!
  • @OliveOilsMom if your priest isn't following the rules that are set forth by the Bishop that may be grounds for reporting.   I'm not usually one who wants to skirt that but I'd be super annoyed if he took personal liberties when the Bishops (at least in CT) are those stating what is and isn't flying.   Here in CT our diocese has no altar servers and Communion is at the end.   We haven't attended in person yet in state and only went to Mass in person for our niece's funeral.   I may try to go with Chiquita but Chiquito's just not great at sitting still and at partial capacity I question whether we'll just be a huge distraction for those that are attending.

As far as I'm aware, he has been following the guidelines set forth by the Bishop.  We do not have any altar servers and the same reader does both readings.  The Bishop has allowed parishes to move Communion back to its normal place in Mass, at their own judgement.  This priest was also working in the Diocese and was not a parish priest until becoming our Pastor in July.  So I'm very certain he is following every directive the Bishop has put out.

For what I can see from looking at other parishes' bulletins they haven't changed their communion back yet.  Some parishes are more SM savy than others, so they may have changed back, just not publicly announcing it.  I just think this priest is so conservative, he doesn't think that the order of the Mass should be changed, even for a pandemic and that is why he has moved it back already.  He was a canon lawyer for the diocese, if that's an indication of how strict his ideology of the Faith is.

The was just sad. One of those teams should have come out with their first win and instead they tie.

    Got it.

Our priests are being very cautious but I know that there are others that take a far more strict approach.  Our associate pastor was hospitalized 18 months ago with pneumonia and congestive heart failure.   I think he's looking at this and is not messing around.   For that I'm grateful.
  • Your walls are awesome @GBCK!

It could be worse. You could be a Falcons fan.
  • Thanks @ei34! It was a relatively easy fast.
