Hump Day?

On lunch..still awaiting my daughter’s results.  I finally finished Schitts Creek last night (I started in July...it takes me forever to finish shows).  Loved it 🥰

Wishing everyone a healthy day!

I watched most of the first season a couple years ago and didn't really care for the show.  But so many people, including you all on WW, speak so highly of it that I decided to give it another chance now that it is on weekly marathon reruns on one of my channels (I record them).

It's grown on me and now I like it!  I think I originally quit too soon because it seems like they were on a long-term character development and, at that point in time, I found the main characters unlikeable and too silly (not funny) instead of silly (haha).

Ironically, my least favorite character initially was the brother David.  But now he is absolutely my favorite.  I especially like comedy characters with dry wit and sarcasm.

  • I love Schitt's Creek lol There's rumours they've entertained a movie to kinda have a follow up on the characters.

We started Big Mouth last night - it's a lot about puberty, sexuality, changes, etc. They also are getting into things this season really quick - transgender, race, etc

It's a funny {admittedly raunchy also} twist on being a teen {the characters are about 14 I believe?} but in so many ways it's a very positive view for some.
One ep was about normalizing female masterbation and having a healthy relationship to your body, etc.
Anyways .... it is really raunchy but in a good way lol

I had horrible sciatic pain last night. Weighted blanket helped but now I have other side and I'm annoyed.

    2 song suggestions
    "Surrender" by Natalie Taylor
    "Remember that night?" Sara Kays

1st the chorus is used on a lot of sappy youtube/tik tok vids
2nd I actually found on tik tok cuz the writer posted the story behind it

    Both are very good.

Anyone on tiktok here? I'm friggen hooked. Such an easy time killer lol
  • @short+sassy i tried it last year and couldn't get into it either. I gave it like 2 episodes and quit. I know people have said it can take longer but anymore if a show doesn't catch my interest in the first few episodes I move on.
  • Morning - after a crap night of sleep, I just got out of bed.  It's going to be a multiple cup of coffee type of day.

I applied for a couple more jobs yesterday, nothing exciting but stuff I could do.  I also learned that I could be called back as early as February (originally April), so I have to decide if I want that.  Ugh.

Not much going on today, but tomorrow I have a follow up biopsy from my mammogram, so that's fun.  Nothing like ending 2020 with a cancer scare.
  • @CharmedPam, hopefully whatever is wrong with M isn't related to you or your all's relationship and he is just in a funk and/or not feeling well.  Do you all have another date planned?  Or is it a "waiting until he feels better" thing?

I collected the security deposit last night, so now it is almost a done deal!  I'll be e-mailing over the lease either today or tomorrow.  I'm hoping to meet them to sign it this weekend.  I also sent them the link for the 3rd party online background check last night.  One of them must have filled it out as soon as she received it because I got the results back in less than 20 minutes!  All good stuff.  She has a better credit score than I do, lol.

Such a relief to be already been done with showings and calling for references.

  • @short+sassy  @kvruns I can honestly tell you M watched but for a long while he was "give or take" the show. It had funny moments, but he was never really 'caught' until they added a couple of characters and adjusted some characters to show more development. {not spoiling for those who haven't seen}
  • No future dates planned @short+sassy , We usually get together on Wednesday’s but it wasn’t even brought up.  I’m waiting for him to suggest something this weekend and if he doesn’t I kinda got my answer.

with Schitt’s creek, I actually like the supporting chatacters more than the Rose family! Not so much Ted.  He was meh.  But my fave is Stevie.  I feel Stevie.

Good luck with the job search!  Had you still been working in catering sales at your friend's company when you were laid off?  Or had you changed to somewhere/something else?  At least there is a possibility of the job coming back sooner than expected.

My own H's p/t gig was taking pics of hotel event boards.  They suspended the NOLA routes when the Stay-At-Home order was put in place, in late March.  I notified them when that was lifted in mid-May.  They ignored my e-mail.  But thankfully the route started back up again in September.  Though 3 days/week instead of the previous 4 days/week and it's 7 fewer hotels, which almost cuts the daily rate in half.  We keep hoping it will go back up to 4 days and more hotels in Spring, but there is really no telling.

Fun fact. Did you ever watch the revamp a few years ago of 90210? {not the recent one, a few years ago} Anyways, the guy who plays Ted played Ethan on that

I love David and Moira out of the Rose's - Alexis' character development made me so happy.
Stevie had to grow on me tbh. I wasn't sure how her character was going to go

I love the Stevie/ Johnny dynamic!
  • Hooray, it is hump day!  This week has been going fast.  Hubby reminded me that there is this week and then next week and it is Christmas break for schools.  That seems really fast!  Christmas still seems so far away.
I might put Schitt's Creek on my list.  Right now we trying to get through the Musketeers television show before it leaves Netflix.  It really annoys hubby that their weapon of choice is usually not muskets ... he has really fixated on that.  Apparently he know wants them to call themselves the Pistolteers.

  • I haven't watched Schitt's creek yet, it's not available here (last time I checked) and I am too lazy to download it.

This month is flying by for me. We are waiting to get a tree until after our staycation next week but Christmas is only week after that.
I am going to be starting a meal plan my trainer is making for me. My numbers all look good on paper, good muscle mass, low bmi, etc but it doesn't show on my body. So we will see if in 6-8 weeks this is something I will continue or if I am just going to be happy with what I have.
I am also toying with the idea about going back to therapy, possibly getting on an antidepressant or something. Starting to think this bad attitude of mine isn't necessary.

My own tv show side eye, that bugs me far-far-far more than I know it should is NCIS: Los Angeles.

Whhhyyyy?  Why Los Angeles?  There is no Naval base in LA.  But the second largest domestic one is just a few hours south in SAN DIEGO!!!  It should be NCIS: San Diego (grumble, grumble, grumble).

I even looked it up once.  There is one small NCIS office in the LA area.  But yeah, there is a behemoth one in SD.

  • I think I loved Schitt's Creek from the beginning, but it took H about 6 episodes or so to get into.  We just finished it last month.  I loved the ending!  We also recently finished the Good Place which also had a very satisfying ending!

Not much today.  We got some flurries here, which is our first official snow of this winter.  I have yoga after work, but not much else.  I have a few Christmas projects to work on, one with DD and one on my own.  So maybe I will try the solo one tonight.

I wanna watch The Good Place. We saw season 1 but M didn't like enough to keep going {he called the end of season 1 at like ep 3 - I was like "nahh they wouldn't!"
  • The Good place is great.  I only follow on netflix though. Do they have new eps put?

@missJeanLouise, so sorry your feeling this way. Good luck on the meal plan.  I hope it works! I had been on 2 antidepressants but dont think I saw any changes. I actually got better results with flat out caffine. Coffee makes me feel good!  Do you drink coffee.

@mrsmitten, I hope you can get back to work in February. Push that boss aside and be the power team you and bff are!

Yeah I hate to promote things, I don’t sell it myself but my friend is a elevacity “happy coffee” distributor.  I keep going on an off and I DO feel more uplifted when I’m “on” it.  But sometimes I noticed the happy upbeat feeling with just coffee. Again, I dont sell it and I HATE promoting mlm’s - but it just worked better for me than meds.  However, I don’t think a lot of meds do work on me.  I’m strange.  Don’t listen to me :)

  • @CharmedPam I'm sitting here thinking about envy I have and half laughing to myself.
I had to swap my meds to evening because if I drink coffee and have my meds {although mine are anxiety+depression - I take celexa} I feel nauseated. I do keep mints with me, but I have started taking them at night because of this.

This for sure.  I actually think David, Moira, and Johnny are all way too much (I do love the show though!) Alexis is the only lead that I think is fabulous from start to finish.

I have two cups a day. One around 9 am one around 4 pm! But I can also drink coffee at 10 pm and sleep well.  I drink it for the taste, and the fact that it’s an appetite suppressant for me. Happy coffee is also a weight management thing, but i honestly use it for the endorphins it releases. I know some people who lost weight on it - but not me!

Oh same. I use to drink an energy drink at like 6pm on my way home from work and still be able to go to bed.
My meds dislike the acid in coffee I think

See I disagree about Alexis. She was interesting but definitely got some well deserved development.
I liked David. And tbh Moira's quips got me lol
  • The Good Place ended its run this past spring.  Netflix just posted the last season around a month ago.
  • UO but I couldn’t stand Stevie.  David and Alexis were also annoying at times, but thought they played a believable brother-sister duo.  I did really enjoy everyone else.
  • I liked the character development for everyone.  Alexis had a ton of personal growth and so did Stevie.  Moira's edges softened and for that I thought it was fantastic too.
  • I liked Johnny's development of emotion. I feel like at the beginning he really showed a defeated male - previously the "head of the house" position. Then having to rebuild himself and his confidence.
I weirdly wish they had shown Johnny depressed a bit ... I mean he had everything taken. Even if it was an undertone, I feel they didn't show it and could have been really good

Fun fact the girl who played Twyla is actually Dan Levy's sister/Eugene Levy's daughter lol
And if anyone remembers the show "Instant Star" - the guy who played "Mutt" {Alexis love interest in season 1} he played as "Tommy Q" in Instant star
