Week’s almost over! Last full work week for most of us?

My stitchfix arrived yesterday and for the first time ever I’m keeping it all! I think going back to the page and doing the “is this your style?” quiz most days really helped her pick out stuff I like. The jeans are “liverpool” brand and they’re fantastic! Like butter. I’m wearing those, the multi top and cardigan today and I feel fabulous! The “good vibes” shirt was just meh, but to get the 25% off, you have to keep the whole box and I’ll probably wear it. And thanks Stitchfix, for making my decision even more convenient with your 4 payment afterpay system!

I swear I'm never going to get through laundry lol It feels worse when you don't have a dryer.
I have a massive pile to go in the wash because I got a crap ton of tops from my boss..... again.
I've set aside stuff that are more "summer" because I figure it's not priority really. Depending on where I'm at with laundry after this massive load, I may toss a couple things in.

I did try on a top without a bra, and I'm surprisingly impressed.
I'll try to upload later or tomorrow. It's just .... idk. It has no support but my boobs look good. Maybe it's the cut? Anyways, I was thinking of when I could wear it in summer, on a date. With high waisted skirt. I have a cute leopard print skirt that would be good.

Anyways ... tomorrow is our "christmas party" Which is really just our 2 offices together during the afternoon and some evening. We're having dinner. M & BK have a dinner date

MY BABY IS ONE TODAY!! It's gone super fast

I made him a tiny layer cake last night and it's adorable. I hope he likes digging into it.

My new glasses are finally in, and i'm getting them fitted today. Conveniently enough, the only open appointment they had overlaps with a conference call that I really didn't want to be on...darn.

I feel like i have a million things to do around the house today before we go to IL's tomorrow. Even though they always have way too much food, it's super odd in H's family to not bring something. I like cooking/baking but it annoys me when it doesn't get eaten. I think i'm going to make some peanut/other nut clusters and call it a day bc i have a ton of nuts in the house for some reason.

The afternoon yesterday felt weirdly frenetic. DefConn's teacher called to do an end of semester check-in on his progress. His reading accuracy is skyrocketing, WAHOO! She also loved her teacher gift.

I had to get COVID tested after finding out I was close contact with someone + last week. I'm negative, which yay. I never had any symptoms, so I'd have been really bummed if I was positive because it would have meant canceling cookies this weekend and Christmas. But as I'm on the phone with DefConn's teacher, my results came in via text.

Then as soon as I get off work, DH texted me that his uncle (dad's brother) had passed away. He'd been in hospice for about 2 weeks with end-stage cancer, so it wasn't a surprise, but still so sad for his wife, daughter, and granddaughters and the rest of FIL's family. FIL left town today, because they apparently have the funeral set for tomorrow. They live in a tiny midwest town and it sounds like everything was set up and waiting for his wife's call.

DH called on the way home and said he was going to FIL's to spend time with him. DefConn asked him to come get him so he could go see the dogs and give FIL hugs. I did stitching and rewatching Schitt's Creek before making dinner. Yay for a little downtime.

I've found my new superpower is calling the plot of shitty action/blow them up movies and then making fun of everything that's unrealistic. We watched "Angel Has Fallen" last night and I shit talked through the whole thing.

Last day of school today for DefConn. Christmas break is here!!

How does drying outside work in winter?

Last full day in Chicago. My book club is zooming at noon Chicago time. We will see how that goes. I was to host our annual Christmas party this year but obviously am not. I will have to be in and out of it a bit while boy are eating and going down for a nap. Thankfully everyone else is a grandparent too so they all understand.

I feel a bit perkier today. Slept well last night and a little later than normal. I also didn't work out on the Peloton. I do love it but everyday is a bit much. When I was going to the gym I alternated spin class with the elliptical.

Baking and cleaning are planned for this weekend. Waiting to hear if DS1 and DIL are coming after Christmas for our family (immediate) celebration. DD and her family are coming and DS2 is already at out house. We shall see how it shakes out. I won't be surprised if they don't come but will be ecstatic if they do come.

It's not outside.
I have a wire hanger I set up in my room.

@Casadena, yay first birthday! Happy birthday to your LO.

My new cube location is even colder then the previous one. For the first time in the 8 years I've worked here, I finally broke down and brought a space heater in. Two of them actually, lol. But one of them is really small and designed to sit on a desk, instead of the floor.

Electrical outlets are problematic in my cube. So I plugged both heaters into my UPS. About 30 minutes later, I went to make a cup of coffee with my Keurig...also plugged into that UPS via an extension cord. My UPS blew (not literally), the second I hit the "cup" button! Everything shut down and the UPS started beeping at me.

I'm kind of proud of myself that I overcame all the problems, lol. For some reason, the Keurig wouldn't work anymore, even when neither space heater was plugged in. I was worried it was busted. But then I tried it on a different outlet and it worked again. But that outlet requires me to run the cord across the opening to my cube. Tripping hazard! But then it hits me. The Keurig doesn't need to stay plugged in. It just needs to be plugged in for a few minutes each time I want a cup of coffee. Aha! So that is what I am going to do. The little desk heater is back plugged into the UPS. The bigger space heater has a long enough cord to plug directly into an outlet (that doesn't block an opening).

So now I am back to being warm, my computer is working, and I have a hot cup of good coffee by my side!

Izzy update. We ended up not taking her to the vet yesterday. She was really improving, especially by the evening, and had started pooping again. She also started eating her dry food again and drinking more water. The previous day, she would eat, but only wet food (which we don't normally give her) and "treats". We also had to entice her to drink water by adding a little sweet cream to it. But then she would lap it right up! She's still not quite 100%, because she seems hesitant to jump on the couch or bed. I also gave her some yogurt last night, per @OliveOilsMom suggestion and because I have a lot of it. It's a "plain" yogurt and not as sweet as most, but it does have added sugar. Izzy has never had yogurt, but she loved it and just ate up the heaping tablespoon I gave her.

Between how excited she was to drink water with sweet cream in it and eat yogurt with some sugar in it, I teased my H that Izzy has a sweet tooth like her daddy.

Busy day at work today. We're trying to get too much done before people start talking time off for the holidays. And I planned very little time off for the holidays so I could catch up on stuff, but we'll see if I actually can get caught up enough. January and February are going to be crazy busy for me.

Snow day here. We got about a foot. Kids were begging to go out at 5:15 but I made them wait till 7:30. We’ve gone out twice more since the morning romp. Also baked and decorated Christmas cookies. In between all the fun they’ve been fighting a lot so I just put on Frozen 2 and I’m toggling between TK and looking into half-day camps for a few days of Christmas break. 😳

Casadena - Happy 1st Birthday Bub!

DD hit her teacher again yesterday, so she wasn't allowed outside to play in the snow. They had a delayed opening and H was able to work from home, so while he went out to shovel our half snow/half ice mix DD went out too. She had so much fun, even thought she didn't want to stay out long. We gave more talks about not hitting and if she is good today, we have something fun planned. But if she hits again, we won't be going. Will find out in about an hour if we are going to the light show tonight!

We had my department's happy hour zoom last night and it was pretty fun. Most people's kids were on the call, so one partner left the video towards the end and called back in. Big boss says, whose calling? I recognized the number and said "It's Bob!", but he called in to play Santa. Whoops! Most of the kids didn't seem to realize what I said. One of the kids kept saying "I need to get Santa's number!" He wanted to give the number out so his friends could call him back!

Thanks everyone! Most of those I’d pass up had I come across them on a rack in a store, but tell me a personal stylist picked them out just for me! And put them in pretty wrapping in a box so I don’t have other peices to compare them to? I’ll look at them differently.

Stopping in from the longest day! Meetings scheduled from 9:30-4:15. Made it through and now snuggling the baby while watching to make sure nothing else comes through my inbox. I’m off tomorrow (as is most of my team!).

But woo hoo on the job offer!!!! At least that is going to be a great way to start the new year! I know you've really been slogging through the job hunting and interview process, I can imagine it is such a relief to finally have something to show for it.

Thanks! She did need another surgery but my dad tells me she's doing better.

Yes, it does indeed feel nice to have those offers. My new job starts Monday and I'm looking forward to it.
