Y'all, IDK if it's my mental health or my age, but I am out of fucks to give and have lost any semblance of patience. This is long, sorry. I am working on a training guide for new attorneys for the firm. I was pretty careful; I don't need to look like I'm telling attorneys how to do their jobs, but I also need to give some guidance on how cases are handled here with paralegals and secretaries and our software. I create the memo and give it to 2 attorneys here for review. One I gave it to, J, is someone who is a meddler and I don't care of his professional behavior; he also has a lot of institutional knowledge, so I knew he'd be good for the review.
He does give it back, with good suggestions. However, he also tells me to have D (my now former managing paralegal and, to apparently quite a few people's chagrin, when she said she didn't want to be in charge of training, the position I'm in was created and I won the position fair and square) review it.
Me: Why?
J: Well, she created this.
Me: No, I did and I requested your suggestions.
J: I mean she created all of these categories.
Me: I understand that, but I still don't see why you believe D needs to review my work.
J: Okay, I was just suggesting it.
Me: I understand, thank you for the suggestion, I'll take it under consideration (I am not going to do this).
Then...welcome to why I don't like J....he goes back to his office, emails my boss (HR Director) and copies me AND THE OWNER on his email, thanking us for the opportunity and once again stating he believes D should review my work. My boss, M, calls me and says, "Did you see this?" I pop into her office and tell her what happened between J and me. She emailed J and professionally told him D would not be reviewing my work, removing the owner from the email. Ugh, I don't even understand why J has to meddle like this. I've already drawn a clear boundary with him before that I reported to HR, not to D, and to stop copying D on issues with me or my work.
Anyway, otherwise SSDD. Our local indie theatre is still open for movies, with reserved tickets for seats to keep spacing and I might just go see one tonight. I miss my movie theatre pass and I'm just not willing to pay $20 per movie at home for most things. My print is on it's way and I'm excited about that.
