I had a a good day off yesterday. I met up with my friend L for brunch and shopping. I had a hair appt. last night. I went...dark purple!!

I did drop by the office to pick up some new materials, including a new headset for calls. This new headset is going to make a world of difference. Also in setting it up, I figured out how to get my speakers to work (they'd been down since I got my new computer). Going to the office is so weird and almost creepy because I literally saw no one except for security and you can hear a pin drop in that place. I miss the 'hum' and running into people in the hallways when I am there once or twice a year.

Is it the damn weekend yet?

This has felt like the longest week ever. Every single day i have thought it was later in the week than it actually was.

I might have to go into the office this afternoon for a meeting which is annoying because I don't want to and its nothing we can't do on the phone. My boss is normally there but his wife had surgery yesterday so he's dealing with that and running 4 kids around to part-time in person school so I'm definitely understanding - just whiny because I don't' want to go.

@mrsconn23 I'm so jealous of your hair! I love colors but am nowhere near brave enough to actually do it, lol.

Oh the shenanigans of my work place continues. J just pulled something out of his ass that is so intended to be a jab at me, it's actually funny because it's so childish. So, I'm finished with that nonsense, hopefully.

Ssdd forever it seems. My workout buddy is indefinitely stuck in South Africa (they went home for Christmas and got stuck after all flights were cancelled) so I think I will have to put word out for a new one, unfortunately.

We are going to a friend's house warming bbq tomorrow. That is the only thing on the calendar until August it seems. It is still so weird not to have Something on the horizon.

This has been the longest week. I’m tapped out. And today will be just as busy. I have very little patience for unnecessary meetings this week and have just told people we can do it via email.

I can’t wait for the weekend. I have no plans, but I’m just looking for not having to deal with annoying questions that I’ve already answered 4 times but have to answer a 5th because higher ups can’t remember when I told them the first 4 times.

Pretty quiet day for me. Finishing up a work project and just counting down to the weekend. I still have a front living room that I haven't gotten around to decorating. Right now it has a shelf and nothing else in it. So I'm staring at pinterest trying to come up with ideas. I think I want to be the kind of person who owns a chaise.

I wish so much the client I work for would adopt me! I work on their network, so I have access to see general communications they have with their employees. I accidentally stumbled onto a page yesterday that had post after post that they have been pleased with the productivity of their staff working from home. They have no plans to bring anyone back to the office until things are safe. And, even then, they have been evaluating how the new work environment will look like with possible hybrid work schedules and/or WFH permanently for many roles. Along with a "don't forget you can order certain office supplies on our company account with Staples that will be directly shipped to your home office (with link)."

I just want to go to their NOLA office and hang out in their lobby, wearing a sandwich board that says, "(Client), please, please make me a direct hire." But I guess it wouldn't do me any good. Because no one is there right now, lol. Seriously, though. I should start keeping an eye on their job board. I don't know why I wasn't already doing that.

Good news on the vaccine shot side. My mom got her first vaccination shot yesterday. Yaayyy! I have been the most worried about her. She's in her early 70s and already has major health problems related to respiration. She's been extremely cautious and pretty much hasn't left the house, but still. My aunt and cousin, because of their jobs, got their first vaccination shots a couple days ago. My aunt is also over 65 and has health conditions, so that was also especially good news. My grandma, who lives in a nursing home, is getting her second vaccine shot today.

I'm potentially getting my first vaccine shot tomorrow (crossing fingers). I'm excited about that. I say "potentially" because my appointment is in MS. They opened it up to people with health conditions a few weeks ago, whereas Louisiana still has not and I don't think they will anytime soon. It didn't say anything, anywhere about having to be a MS resident. Though I suspect you do. I didn't lie and I did put my real NOLA address to sign up for the appointment. But I'm a little worried I am going to get there and they're going to ask for my ID...or notice my address is in LA....and say, "Nope! Gotta be a MS resident." But it's worth the 90-minute drive to me, to hope I get one.

My mom got her first vaccine shot this week!!! The school district she works for only had 20 vaccines available at the moment and since she's higher risk (breast cancer survivor, thyroid condition, school employee) she was able to get in ASAP. I'm so happy, I was most worried about her.

Also, I finally found a combo *knock on wood* that seems to be doing my dry, sensitive skin some good. The rose water/witch hazel toner has helped, I stopped my vitamin C serum, and found a new Farmacy cream that has been amazing.

ETA: I don't have to go to the office today for a 30 minute meeting. YAY! I do have to be the leader of the call, but that's no big deal. I just really didn't want to put on real pants.

I've read that it's ok to cross state line. H's grandma lives fairly close to the IL/WI border and went into WI this week to get hers. I would think if they let you make the appointment you will be good. Congrats and fingers crossed!

I've had a crazy week. Monday we got a ton of snow. Thankfully worked from home. Trudged into the office Tuesday. Yesterday was crazy busy. I think today is the first day it's been sunny.

Going to a very, very small (5 people total) Superbowl party at my BFF's house and I'm so excited. I haven't seen my friends since my birthday in September.

MrsConn - Love the hair!!!

For the true crime fans - I've been watching The Confession Killer on Netflix. Its about Henry Lee Lucas and I wasn't very aware of his full story. Its kinda wild! Its a much slower paced story than the Night Stalker one and much more tame, but its crazy!

I'm probably going on a Wegmans run on lunch. I'm still undecided, but there is some stuff I want from there, that I can only find there, and I haven't shopped there in months. Its just not on my route anymore, since I've been WFH.

I got outside to play with DD in the snow yesterday and she was so happy! We had some fun! We built a super quick and avant gard snowman and had a snowball fight. It is important to know that when you have a snowball fight with a 3 year old, you must take turns throwing the snowballs! LOL!

As soon as I got done posting the Prudies, I got a call that I had to get DefConn to quarantine. He had close contact. It's been almost a week, so off we went to get a COVID test.

Before all that, I got to have a massive freakout about backing the truck out of the garage (it's a tight squeeze). Yes, I did manage to scrape the side of the garage. The truck is fine except a minor scrape. The garage is mostly fine too.

I did have to bribe DefConn with a concrete mixer and lunch from Culver's. He was a champ and said it wasn't as bad as he thought. He also made up a song to the tune of 12 days of Christmas, "On the first day of quarantine, I got picked up from school..."

As long as he's negative, he goes back on the 9th.

There goes my weekend plans...again.

I'm ready for a whiskey.

Damn @mrsconn23 that sucks! Hope he’s negative. Can he do remote learning while quarantine or is this like a break from school?

Also I assume you didn’t get him a concrete mixer, like an actual truck.

Yes, we have remote learning instructions. His BFF is also quarantined, because this came from the bus and they sit in the same seat. SO they have all sorts of facetiming plans. Hee

And a concrete mixer is like a DQ blizzard, LOL

That is so hilarious! I asked my "big kid",ie my H, to come with me to my vaccination appointment tomorrow so that, jic I have a bad reaction, he can drive us home.

Anytime we are going in an eastward direction over the MS border, my H always wants to stop at a DQ that is right off the freeway to get a blizzard. It's become a tradition. This stemmed from years where we didn't have any DQs in the NOLA area, though now there are two in the suburbs.

About 20 minutes after I asked him to come with me, I remembered the DQ and said, "Oh yeah! And as a reward for being an awesome H and coming out to MS with me, we can stop at that DQ you like." He responded with an impish tone, "I know we will. Both ways!" Lol.

Oh, I forgot that both of my parents are getting their vaccines on Saturday. I'm really happy about this, b/c I kind of had to push my mother into it (her reluctance was that it was too new and I explained to her it wasn't) and my father is a Trumper. But somehow my mother convinced him. I was fully ready to go to the house in a mask and be kind, concerned, knowledgeable, and pull the daughter card/tears to make him get it. I'm happy it didn't take that.

Also, I have another person mad at me at work b/c I am transferring a case away from me.

Him: I told you I wanted you to keep that case.
Me: You also told me it was just babysitting it for a year and now you want me to do A, B, C, D, E, F, and G in the next five weeks, which is not babysitting, and with my knowledge about my upcoming responsibilities for my current job, I don't have time to do this.
Him: **pouts**

I just walked away. Again, the patience is at an all time low and I'm trying my hardest not to be disrespectful to these people that I really do like, but get a goddamn grip already. People are really struggling with me not performing as a paralegal and I guess that speaks well of my performance. At the same time, the person I did most of my work for (80% of my case load) is all....just train me some mini Varunas and I'll be fine. So if he can be a professional adult, I fail to see why these other people cannot.

Yay for vaccines!

I had no sleep. I think it had to do with my whole medical billing issue. I definetly slept through my workout hour and woke up feeling SO blah. We’re supposed to get more snow but I’m in the office till it happens. I’m also eating like shit along with my “don’t care artifude” i think I need a strict diet program like jenny criag or nutrisystem but our office supplies us lunch daily and it’s SO nice not to have to worry about the cost of 5 x lunches a week. I dunno anymore.

@mrsconn23, I love culvers, and I know exactly what a concrete mixer is. Lucky boy! Your hair is so fun!

I am tired and frustrated.

Tired because last night was later from DH's birthday and then I woke up when I think he was having a panic attack. Then I had a meeting today at work that's just stressful and frustrating and the issues of 2020 and the workload are taking a toll.

I need to get better at putting work out of my brain when i'm not at my desk. I'm terrible at it and the workload increase isn't helping. I may be putting in some catch up hours on Saturday to help feel ahead of this but at least they'll be on my own time.

Confusing, lol!

I just got a sales e-mail from Holy Toledo about vacation stays. I'm like "who tf is this and why would I vacation in Toledo." Because, of course, I'm thinking of Toledo, OH. Though the picture was a water image. I vaguely remembered I was looking at driveable, more isolated vacation spots a few months ago.

I check the street address on the e-mail. Oh yeah! These are vacation rentals on Holy Toledo Lake, located on the Louisiana/TX border. I probably did sign up to be emailed about specials. That makes a lot more sense now, lol.

No offense to Toledo, OH. I'm sure you are a lovely city, but you are not a vacation destination for me.

I actually want to go back to Toledo OH for vacation! I was there on a work trip and wouldn't mind stopping through the town when my hubby and I do our Ohio castle tour. I went for a lovely walk in a park in the middle of town.

Work is still crazy, and it had a weird side affect last night. I've been going to bed really tired, and hubby comes to bed later because he is more of a night owl. Anyways, he came to bed last night and I was fast asleep but he startled me, and I full on back-handed him in the face. Apparently I am not to be messed with when sleeping.

Feeling tired and overwhelmed.

After a bump, work is going pretty well...but I'm feeling both overwhelmed and lonely in my personal life. I'm the only unattached member of my family in my generation and I have no kids. That makes me the misfit. And even though I don't do taxes for a living anymore, everyone keeps bringing up their tax issues with me and expecting me to help them out.
