Ugly walls, ceiling. What to do?

We had to move venues due to covid and this new venue is has wood paneled walls. It’s not the look I was going for. My vision was for a garden theme. I thought draping the walls would be amazing but the quotes have been sky high. Any ideas on what to do? I’ve attached photos of the venue and some of my ideas that I’ve sketched. Again, the full draping is out of our budget. I haven’t received quotes for partial draping yet but one person said it was too choppy looking. I don’t know what to do and the wedding is less than 100 days away, Help!

I think once you get tables and chairs in there the brown won't be so overwhelming. If you absolutely have to do something I would not cover the windows.
  • I think the draping draws the eye more to the walls that you don't like.  I would put a few large floral arrangements on each wall if it's in your budget and don't worry about it.  Also, I can't remember what the walls looked like at any wedding i've been to in the last 10 years - i really think once you get tables, chairs, and people in there it won't be noticeable at all.

This could be way out there but, a couple of ideas...have you considered hanging other decorations from the ceiling? For example the big white tissue paper pompops at varying levels (think using like 100 of them, hanging at different levels higher and lower in front of the wall). Or using living walls/greenery (fake could be more budget-friendly). Not suggesting this for all sides but maybe just one large wall in question, it could at least offset some of the brown?
  • Put your effort into the tables/chairs instead of the walls and ceiling.  Comfortable chairs for your guests (if you have anyone heavy choose a chair so they aren't feeling like the chair is going to fall apart under them), possibly chair covers/sashes, Linens, and centerpieces that fit your theme.  Dollar for donuts, putting the attention on the tables the guests are going to be seated at and making the guest experience regardless of the room décor enjoyable is going to be your best money spent.

For lack of a better analogy, spending a small fortune to put up the draping in a room like that is in the category of lipstick on a pig, no matter what you do unless you're ready to drop some serious change, it's still not going to be the venue you were wanting originally.  Instead of taking the eye away from the problem, it's just going to draw attention to it vs. let the room be what the room is, and draw attention to the guest experience.
  • Maybe lights or those round white balls for the ceiling and then some plants/trees against the walls to distract?  I have a similar issue at my venue and that is what I plan to do.
