WR: Long Hair or Short?

Ok, so here's my dilemma. We are trying to plan for a wedding for October of next year. I've had long hair for most of my life, but cut it to a short bob at the beginning of summer. I really have enjoyed having the short hair, but my mom thinks I should grow it out again for the wedding next year. I like my short hair and was going to keep it short, but I think I would like to have it long for wedding photos and stuff. What do you ladies think? Here's pictures of it both ways. Ignore the two tone hair with the long style, I was growing the color out (which is another thing I have to decide!). Neither pic is very attractive, but I didn't really feel like digging through my files for a flattering picture.

ETA: I know I'm not going to do a veil either way. I'm not a veil person.

I love the short hair, but being a short-haired gal myself I'm partial. Do you have ideas for short-haired wedding dos?

No, I don't. And I have VERY fine hair so it's tough to find styles that don't fall out easily.

I went through the same dillema with my past wedding dates. haha. Here's what I decided:

I like shorter hair. But I wanted longer hair for the wedding pictures. Is it really worth it not feeling AS beautiful for the next year just because of 10 hours on one day?

So, short hair. Plus I think you look best that way.

I think you look great with long and short hair, but I think for a wedding long hair would be better. I did something similar a few years ago, I had hair about as long as yours, went in and got a pixie cut. I LOVED it. But then last summer when my BF and I talked about moving in together then getting engaged sometime this year, married sometime next year, I was like "uh oh, if I want long hair for my wedding, I better start growing it!"

Could you not keep your short hair and do extensions for the wedding? That way you've got the best of both worlds? FWIW I love the short hair on you. Just as long as *you'll* still feel bridal, then go ahead with the short hair.

There are plenty of short hair styles.  They aren't as elaborate as long hair up-dos but with the right accessories they are quite stunning.  Plus it is much less maintenance.  In the end it is up to you what you want.  I say that you can grow it out long now, find out what your wedding style and dress look like and if it can accommodate a shorter cute, CHOP off the hair.  :) I think you look more grown up with the shorter hair, more sophisticated.

I love myself in a bob, but I knew for my wedding, I would want my hair up and off my face. If it was loose, I'd be messing with it all day. So I grew mine out.

You have to think about how YOU will be the most comfortable.

<div>Yeah, it definitely is more flattering to my face and age as an everyday look. And you're right, it is much easier to cut off at the last minute than to grow it out again.</div>

I love puzzle's inspirational pics! I think you look amazing with shorter hair. I wouldn't change a look you love just to have long hair for your wedding day. I'm assuming since you said your hair is fine that it may not hold a curl very well? Although it *could* be long for the wedding, that doesn't mean it will be any easier to style depending on your hair type. You know your hair best....what would you be able to do with it if it were long???
  • edited December 2011
I'd let it grow to about shoulder length and then add extension. That way it isn't too long, but you can style it any way you'd like! :)
