Eaaarrrlllyyy Thursday

I was sleeping so hard I never heard DH get up to go the gym like I normally do.  I love that kind of sleep.

I'm only here half day today.  Hair appt later and maybe I'll get home in time for a nap.  Ha.

Looking at Prudie.

I can see the end of the week y'all.

Re: Eaaarrrlllyyy Thursday

  • Yay for hair! I keep thinking I need to schedule mine, but I don't know what I want to do, so bleh.

It should be a chill day here. Allergies were kicking my ass last night, so I took a Benadryl right before bed. It must have worn off, because I was suddenly wide awake at 5. At least I can breathe, so whatever. We rented a cabin in the mountains this weekend, so I'm mentally preparing a packing and shopping list. I'm excited to take a few days away to just relax.
  • B is in one of his wake up way too early and refuse to stay in bed cycles. This morning H woke me up just before 5 because B came out and wanted me (normally I hear every sound but I must have been so tired I never heard him). So that was fun, got him back to sleep finally and then had to wake him up to go to school.

Feeling a bit better with my allergies/whatever is going on. Hope it stays because I've definitely had that foggy feeling the past few days so good to finally feel like I can concentrate a bit
  • By some crazy coincidence I have nothing scheduled between now and 1:15! This never happens. So either I’m going to have a great morning knocking things off my to do list, or there is impending doom about hit. It’s one or the other.
  • Trying to declutter is just tedious.
I've got one spot I'm going to try and deal with at lunch, and go from there.

We got our taxes done, and luckily we get a good return so M & I are talking about a new mattress soon.
I'm looking at endy, casper, etc Something of that ilk

Just an FYI on these- they can be good if you want an all foam mattress but aren’t really that much cheaper than standard mattresses- and unless you’re near a show room you can’t really test them out. We thought about going this route when we got our new one 2 years ago but ended up going with a more traditional hybrid because we found them more comfortable than the all foam/ memory foam options. Just our experience!

Hmm this is true. We have a memory foam top mattress and it's just .... I'm not a fan. I like to flip mattresses and this is not the kind. Figured with these I can flip, turn etc.
  • that sounds miserable @short+sassy  I had that happen one time and grabbed a tshirt from our storage closet and walked around in slippers I used to keep under my desk at work bc my feet were soaked.  No hope on the pants though I remember just being wet and it sucked

  • @short+sassy that sucks dude. I hope you find something cute at the store.

Ssdd here, kind of. Ramadan started Tuesday so it has affected my work hours slightly. DH is working reduced hours (this is a normal to accommodate those who are fasting but everyone benefits). No real plans this weekend, I have some quilty stuff to work on.

You can- but if you like something a little more solid (with coils for example) you might not like the all foam. I really thought that I would be ended up HATING them. I felt like I was sinking into them. Everyone’s different though!

You mean the endy/casper mattress? I think they have a pretty good return policy.

I may wait until things open up before I order, that way if I need to return I know have tested out another mattress in store and can just order

They do, 100 days I think? I don’t know the logistic of that. Just me but I would hate to order something like a mattress, get it set up, then have to take it down to return it. Just me but I’m lazy.

Did a quick look up. they have a few types similar to your suggestion and to what I was looking at in a local mattress place.
    Plus potentially cheaper!

I've been intrigued by the mattress in a box things but I've never had a memory foam mattress and I like soft mattresses (like pillow top type) so figured I wouldn't like it. I thought it would be firm, not sinking into it though?

My H and I have a memory foam mattress.  We slept at a friend's house on one and I actually hated it.  It was way too soft and had no support.  I sunk in so much.

Despite that experience, we got a memory foam mattress when we needed a new one because the price difference was just so completely night and day...like $600 with 1,000s of good Amazon reviews vs. a basic mattress with mediocre reviews for $1500+.  We also wanted a California King, so that added to the cost and limited our options a good bit.

On the bright side, we did end up liking the memory foam mattress we purchased and it's comfortable.  I wouldn't have described it as "firm" even when we first got it.  More like medium, but on the firmer side.  Though it quickly became softer.  I think we've had it for about two years now and I'd call it a solid medium.

  • @short+sassy what brand did you get? the price is what intrigues me most. My last mattress I liked and paid about $700 for a queen (this was in 2007 so prices are up I'm sure) but these ones like Zinus have so many good reviews on amazon and it's like $300. I'm tempted that when I need one I'll get one and if I hate it I can use it for a guest room bed

After consulting with my Amazon order history, lol, I have the link below.  Either I was wrong on the price or it increased.  But it's still only $722 for the CA King and the Queen is probably cheaper.  And apparently I bought it 3 1/2 years ago (Oct. 2017).  So an even longer time I have been happy with it and it has maintained it's medium firmness.

I like a firm mattress myself.  Mine has been holding up.

It was hailing here today.  Crazy weather!  I was going to help SIL with some yardwork, but spent the day indoors instead.  Hubby got a 3D printer, and now we have to apparently rearrange our house to suit this thing.  It needs a room with proper ventilation, enough outlets, and it has to be 25 C when it prints.  And takes up a bunch of space.  He wants it to be in my home office because he is banking on me working in the office when covid is over.  But I worked from home before Covid, and even though I got promoted to a job that was traditionally done in office, my entire program is work from home now, probably permanently.  Also also, the office was always supposed to be a room that I got to use for whatever I wanted.  So I am pushing for it to be downstairs with all his hobby stuff, because that makes sense.
    I concur!

    Your office=your work

    His hobby=not in your office

  • @kerbohl also, consider setting it up AWAY from bedrooms if you can. DH will print shit that takes 8 hours and run it overnight. The machine can be so noisey.
  • @kerbohl mine just got one too, it's not too big but it now is in the way of some other stuff that was up there. I definitely agree it needs to be with his stuff, not yours, especially since it can take hours to print stuff and I wouldn't want to listen to it.
  • Wow, @missJeanLouise and @kvruns, lots of us with 3D printers!  Yeah, it will be downstairs away from the bedrooms.  He wants to get an air purifier to help with the toxic fumes as well.
My office is now missing a desk for his printer, which is actually something I like a lot.  Less clutter!  There were always two desks in my office for no reason since I only use the one.
