We are officially moved in the new house! I took off work Friday and from the time I left Thursday until last night I have been pretty much going non-stop. We scrapped wallpaper, painted, moved, and almost completely unpacked. My girls went to the in-laws for the weekend and we had some amazing friends help us on Saturday. My goal was to get the girls rooms together and the house livable and we succeeded! I am back at work today and exhausted is an understatement. I definitely need to run out at lunch and get some random essentials that we can’t find. Lol Like nail clippers and some storage items ( Our old house had closet built in’s with drawers that H made) This house has HUGE closets but they aren’t designed well so need some totes and things to get us by until Husband can re-do them.

i basically had Friday afternoon off. I went home at noon to wfh, but nothing was to exciting so I got a nap in and got to watch more of “cruel summer”.

Saturday I met up with friend #2 and her kids for a disney concert at an adventure park. It was really well done. They’re doing 80’s in 3 weeks and she wanted to go. I told friend #1 we’d do something that weekend but she bailed on me last weekend PLUS I found out she went to the festival she said she wasn’t going to go to. Her husband let that one out of the bag. So I told friend #2 I’d go. This is the 2nd time in a row friend #1 bailed on me and I’m not making plans with her. I’ll invite her to this 80’s concert with us, but i’m not leaving my weekends open for her if she bails and lies about it.

Sunday I saw Stillwater. Good movie. Amanada Knox has something up her ass if she thinks it’s about her. She’s not the only person in a foreign prision wrongfully comitted. In fact, there’s a TV show about it. But the movie was slow slow slow and them BAM. End. And there’s holes in it, like they left some important scenes on the cutting room floor that explained some stuff. If their intention was to be “choppy” about the storyline to be artistic, it missed it’s mark with me:

Those bedrooms are so sweet!!!

OMG this weekend turned out to be very busy. DH went OOT Friday with his dad, brother, and some friends. I went to sister's FIL's memorial and then out to dinner with other sister, BIL, nephews, and dad. While at dinner, I was texting with a friend that was in from OOT and she was around the corner from where we had dinner, so I ran over there with DefConn to meet up with her. We hadn't been able to work out a meet up earlier in the week, so it was truly just perfect timing.

Saturday, DefConn had a bday party in the neighborhood behind us. I dropped him off there and went running around. I went to go find him at the end of the party. He ended up crossing the street to a friend's house and was at their house swimming (which would normally be a 'situation', but I telegraphed that he'd end up there pretty quickly once I calculated where the bday part was located) and when I showed up, his friend's mom invited me to the 'state fair' party they were having that night. I barely know this kid's parents (we've talked 2-3 times in person and texted, all kid-based communication, that many times as well), but I literally had no reason to say no (I mean, besides just saying no to say it...) So I went. I knew no one and it was mostly people who lived in the neighborhood behind me. It went about as well as I expected...I am awkward turtle in those situations. I wished fiercely DH was with me. But DefConn had fun and I made it through. LOL

Sunday, we went to my sister's to finalize plans for mom's memorial. We sat by the pool at her neighbor's house so the kids could swim. DH got home from his trip and had to immediately do a brake job on the truck. The brakes were more worn out than he thought they were. I'm glad they made it back safely after seeing his pads.

We had a quiet night. We are watching White Lotus on HBOMax and it's such a good show. Weird, awkward, and funny. The cast is pretty perfect.

Oh and I got to go baby shopping for my sister's SIL. I found the cutest ruffle-butt strawberry swimsuit that should fit her next summer. Mom would have totally approved (strawberries were her thing).

Pretty normal, back to routine week ahead. I say that and shit's gonna be upended in 2 secs.

The kids' rooms look so good, and congrats on getting the house livable! Those first weeks are rough when you can't find anything and haven't adjusted yet.

We had a pretty good weekend. Saturday we knocked out a ton of yard work and got some little nagging chores done around the house before going out for dinner. Yesterday we went to my mom's pool and then my dad made dinner. It was the first time I'd spent much time with my sister since the beach, and it was good. Schools here started back today, and it's a little cooler than it was last week. (By cooler I mean 87, but I'll take it.) I'm starting to get excited for autumn. I want to wear boots and jeans and have a bonfire.

We had a really nice weekend! Finally starting to figure out to live life with 2 kids. It's been WAY harder than I could have imagined. IL's came over friday afternoon and H and I went and sat on a patio for lunch and beer, then napped, then they cooked dinner and stayed til G's bedtime. Saturday G's school had an art show in the backyard/playground - it was ridiculous and adorable and we took 5000 pictures

Then we ran some errands with both boys. SIL/BIL came over in the afternoon and hung out with the boys, then cooked us all dinner. We really love spending time with those two AND she is pregnant again! I'm so happy for them, especially after the 2 losses in the last year. Yesterday we had a slow morning, then went to our fave donut place and let G pick out his own donut for snack and went to the park for a donut picnic and playing. N snoozed in the stroller the whole time. It was awesome. So glad too that the weather is cooling off a little. Highs in the 70s are so much more pleasant.

@MyNameIsNot we do Daily Harvest occasionally and the smoothies are the BEST. We've tried a lot of other items and everything is good, but imo the smoothies are the only thing truly worth the $$.

@Jstump2, you and your H are amazeballs! I can't believe everything you all got done in only 3 days! The girls rooms look great. Congrats on moving in.

My weekend had good and bad news. The bad news...the sewer pipe that was replaced at one of my rental properties less than two weeks ago, collapsed AGAIN. Un-f**king-believable! We are so livid. The Sewerage and Water Board is coming back out today. My H and our plumber will be there to make sure they don't start fixing it, without determining WHY it failed, so we don't have a three-peater in another short period of time.

But onto the good news. Which now pales in comparison, but I was super excited about it on Friday, because we didn't hear about the sewer pipe until Sunday, lol.

The tenant I was talking about on Friday, that I was planning to have a phone call with and then post a Notice to Vacate on her door...sent me a text message before I had contacted her at all, that she is moving out this Wednesday! My H and I are so happy it is happening even faster than we had ever expected. As such, I didn't need to have that awkward conversation and we didn't bother posting the Notice to Vacate. I'm only required to give 30 days notice by local landlord/tenant law, though I was going to give her 60 days, just so she'd have some extra time. But, jic she doesn't leave, I still have time to give her a notice that her last day will be Sept. 30th.

My other good news is my gig job...taking pics of hotel event boards...majorly "upped" the amount of hotels on my route. I went from 3 to 8, ie almost triple the money. Still only half of what I had before the pandemic, but at least the route is worth our time again. Though we realize, if the country continues sliding downhill again with the delta variant, it might be short-lived and cut down again.

Once kids are back in school, I am like..."OK summer, we're done." I'm hoping we get an earlier fall this year.

And I'm sure no one has thought about me since Saturday night, but ugh...my anxiety bleeds into impostor syndrome. I called my BFF between the invite and showing up (I went home to change and did some panic cleaning to calm myself). I vented to her about how I am waiting for the IDGAF to kick in for me. I also did psychoanalyze myself while talking to BFF and decided this all dates back to my parents moving me from IL to IN between my 9th and 10th grade years and how it's my touchpoint for never feeling confident in "I'm the new kid" situations. BFF totally gets this since we met in 11th grade when she was the new kid.

The funny thing is, I had no issues when I met up with my friend Friday and there was a hodge podge of people who'd met her and her H out at this brewery. But also, I know her well and she's not friends with assholes. So I had full confidence everyone was nice, and they were.

Great job @Jstump2! That is amazing that y'all got so much done. I'm the same way though. I want everything unpacked and put in place asap. I can't stand having un packed boxes and unhung artwork. My kids are the exact opposite lol!

I got home yesterday from Chicago. Time up there was ok. The kids and DD were sick. She took a Covid test and thankfully came back negative. She didn't think it would be positive but took it just to be safe. I have tons of stuff to do this week before they come down next weekend for a week. I have a bunch of returns to do, Italian lessons and rooms to clean and get ready for them.

I bought a cabinet to use as a bar in our living room. We are sending a desk that we had in there to DD. My great aunt had left it to me/DD when she passed away 27 years ago (DD's middle name was my aunt's name). I need to sort through stuff in the desk and find a place for it. H and I got the cabinet set up yesterday with all the liquor. I still need to do a few things for it. BTW, I bought it from Ashley Home. It had good reviews and is painted wood with some MDF. On sale it was over $300. H put it together before I got home yesterday and wasn't happy with how poorly constructed it was. It came with several loose pieces, and the doors don't line up properly (he adjusted some things to compensate). It would be too much of a hassle to return it. It looks fine now that it is set up but still!

Weekend was good! Lots of time with Baby M and H quiet and hanging out around the house. We took him to the farmers market and he just loves staring at people. We went the the in-laws yesterday and saw H’s brothers family. It was great seeing them and having the kids play with the baby.

I watched a ton of olympics while M napped. I love it so much and I’ll be sad when it’s done.

@charlotte989875, around here this has been an excellent year for farmers markets/farm stands. I go to one of the two farm stands by my house once a week to buy all the locally grown goodies. The farmer at one of them is the saltiest old man. I try to make conversation about the weather with him and he just kinda...grunts. But his sweet corn is the best I've ever had, so he gets all my dollars. LOL

Re: Amanda Knox. I can't remember if I ever told you guys this, but I met her in Paris in 2017. She was in our tour group for the Eiffel Tower. Anyway, I follow her on IG and saw that she was posting all angrily about her "story being told" by uninformed people or something.

My weekend was good. Hung out by the pool Friday. Saturday morning got my hair done. Went out to dinner w/ my friends that night, and then went upstate to hang out with the guy I'm seeing. Ended up staying there last night too.

This weekend was busy. Started the 2nd job. I forgot just how rough even easy retail is on your body. But, it's worth it to meet my goals.

I ended up going home early on Friday b/c I could feel the warning signs of heat exhaustion coming on. I was right, too. Stopped and bought Gatorade and Pedialyte, got home, stripped to my underwear, and cranked the AC way down. Took about 2 and a half hours to feel normal again, then I let myself go to sleep. When I woke up, I had th rebound headache. I went into the restroom to get medicine and saw myself in the mirror and was shocked. I had massive black circles under my eyes, from dehydration I guess. Stayed in the rest of the weekend.

Weekend was decent, B and I mostly just hung around Sat bc H was gone and then Sunday celebrated my brother's birthday. H declined to go which was fine.

My new place needs carpet, as I've mentioned, and I wanted it in before I move in. Home Depot had some I like and I'd read about a 7 day installation process. Well apparently that isn't true ever since covid but the info is still floating around the website. Sounds like I'll end up moving in at least my big stuff before carpet which stinks but I can't change it.

Of course my realtor when I asked about getting in the house earlier for measurements (house is empty, should be OK), she's like do you want me to have my carpet person come too and you can see what she has I bet she can get you taken care of sooner. That is appealing but I'm sure it is more $$ and I've finally almost narrowed down what I want at HD, not sure I can try to add more to the mix again!

Also H is talking again about moving near me. This time it isn't to avoid child support like a week ago but rather to go to kid sports games. That's been his hang up this whole time, that he'd have to drive too much or miss seeing sports so he just wants to move instead. I'm like you can do what you want but I think maybe waiting and seeing if B even plays sports or how that all works is a better plan then just saying let me move so I drive less.

Back to the grind!

We had a great trip to DC, Hilton Head, Disney, Savannah and DC again. Lots of hotel stays and my brain is still waking me up thinking I'm in line for a ride somewhere in Disney park.

I finished doing all the trip laundry but the neglected house is still neglected. I'm going to need more time to get back into a better groove but now I'm contending with two weeks of emails I missed.

The good:
-I loved our stay and our resort.
-Rise of the Resistance is FANTASTIC. It's an experience that's worth waking up early on vacation for a boarding group.

The bad:
-No one followed the honor system of masking at Disney. The masks were required for all unvaccinated in any indoor space, on rides, and in queues and in restaurants when not eating. They were required for everyone on Disney public transportation that was enclosed: Skyliner, Monorail, Bus. They were not required on the boats.
The masking requirements were not enforced and no parents were questioned. DH and I looked and talked about all the "short 12 year old kids" because some that were up to my hip were in queues and unmasked.

I'm glad that Disney went back to masks required for all. It was clear that their guests weren't going to follow the rules and there was no way for Disney to enforce them so now the bad apples spoiled it for everyone.

DH and I did mask up outdoors if we were in crowds and we followed the masking requirements inside as well. We enforced the rules with our kids too. Because Florida's cases were peaking we did decide to get tested on Friday which was 4 days after our last day in the parks. None of us had symptoms and we did it as a precautionary measure. We are negative and remain symptom-free. Because our home county is now in an area of sustained transmission we'll be masking indoors as well. It hasn't changed much for me and as the parent of two kids who cannot be vaccinated I'm going to maintain my own health and enforce the rules with the kids for their health and safety too.

Very good weekend, fancy birthday lunch with my toddler nephew who was perfectly behaved, and pool time with friends. 9 days of work left before vacation and I’ve managed to block the last two on my calendar so I can reasonably decline to do anything new

Thanks everyone!the girls are very pleased with their new rooms. I think it has helped ease the new house transition for them. Random question. Does anyone have bath towels they love that are decently priced. Ours are getting up there and I am wanting to replace them but not sure what to get.
