I was telling DH as we went out to the bus this morning that I could totally deal with the cool mornings/evenings and warm afternoons for forever. It's my idea of perfect weather. I am not excited about the return to the upper 80's and 90's.

I volunteered through work yesterday. Our founder started a charity that runs charter schools. There's 2 in the area and we do a day every year where they get about 100 people to go help set up classrooms at both locations. It's always a fun day. This is the second time I've done it. Especially as someone who works from home, it's a chance to catch up with people and meet newer co-workers.

DH's (crazy) aunt is in town. Le sigh. Apparently, we're having them to dinner tomorrow. It's...fine. DH tried to talk to me about this before I even had coffee this morning and I kinda bit his head off. He should know to never approach me with this stuff when I'm barely awake. Ha.

DH is grumpy Gus because of work BS. He's also anxious about all the interview processes he's got going on. He's real fun to be around right now. I went to our scouts meeting alone last night and when I got home, he was rage mowing the yard (I can read that man's body language like a book, even on a riding mower...LMAO).

SSDD otherwise.

One day closer to Friday! I'm going to the GNR concert tomorrow and I can't wait. Yes, I will be masked the entire time. Not fucking around..haha.

Has anyone been watching Sex/Life? I finally got to that infamous episode 3 scene last night and wow, OK. Not sure if I'll watch the whole season because the acting is really not good, so much so that it's distracting from the sex scenes.

The baby is refusing to sleep in his crib at night so I just presented to the leadership team on zero sleep. Thankfully the meeting invite noted “it’s not necessary to participate via video”.

My aunt is in town from California. I haven’t seen her and my uncle in 6 years, and they’ll be here for baby M’s birthday, which is so exciting. Just trying to make it to the weekend!

Yes @climbingsingle I saw the series! I liked it. I hated the ending. I had no idea that Billie was the ex wife of Steve Howey (of Reba/Shameless) so after I found out I was trying to picture the two of them together and couldn’t. The acting is bad, but the storyline is real (maybe not the journal part of it). I probably wont RUN to season 2, because again, ending.

My parents come back from their trip from Canada tonight. We’re doing Jungle Cruise & dinner. They may stay till Thursday. They may stay till Friday. That’s the life of retiree’s. Today also starts low carb again for me. Well, breakfast is a carb until my low carb breakfasts come from nutrisystem. So wish me luck!

Today is our 14th anniversary! MIL and FIL are taking the kids overnight and we'll get to be grown ups.

The weather is likely going to suck so I think no boating is in the future but we'll head out to eat and not scream at people to get ready for bed.

DH's grandmother (FIL's mom) is not doing well and we are likely gearing up for hospice to be present and plan for the end. There's a decent amount of family drama with it including gripes about $ and it's really hurt FIL who doesn't deserve it. FIL's SIL (bro's wife) will come up today so she can visit and say goodbye and hopefully that goes well.

The weather for the end of the week looks to be summery so I am hoping for marina dining, boating and maybe anchoring on the beach.

My laptop...that I JUST bought in Nov. 2018, so 2 1/2 years ago...had the hard drive completely fail, so now it is ruined. It wasn't an "expensive" laptop. I paid about $500 for it. But still. That's a lot of money to spend for something that ended up having such a short life span. And I do expect even a lower-end laptop to last at least 5 years. My H is an IT guy and he is going to try and retrieve some of the data, but already warned me he may not be able to get much or any of it.

He shopped around online yesterday for me. Then we went to Costco to see what kind of laptops they have. There was a $700 HP that looked pretty good. But my H thinks we can find better, price-wise. We are probably going to Sam's Club and Best Buy tonight. Laptops are one of those things that, if possible, I prefer to see and touch in-person.

I forgot to mention at least the one nice thing yesterday. My H and I went out to dinner after Costco and discovered a great Japanese/Hibachi restaurant! It used to be a different restaurant, under different owners. Really good food for great prices. Though the service was only so-so. I ordered a shrimp tempura appetizer. It had four shrimp and whole bunch of veggies for $8. It was more meal-sized than app-sized. I had a pork ramen with a whole bunch of ingredients in it for $11. It was huge (2-3 meals) and the broth was so delicious.

Neither of us ordered it, but they also have Chicken Katsu. We'd been recently talking about that dish because it is popular in Hawaii, but I rarely see it sold anywhere else. We are looking forward to going back and trying it. Maybe even as soon as next week. This restaurant is fairly close to our house

@climbingsingle I stopped by FSIL’s on Monday and they were watching it and I couldn’t keep watching. The acting was so bad and corny.

@banana468 I’m sorry to hear about DH’s Grandma. But happy anniversary! I hope you two are able to have some good quality time together.

@“short+sassy" that’s a bummer about the laptop. I’ve been holding off on getting a new one. Mine is about ten years old at this point and it’s really on the end of its life.

I am trying to gear up for what is sure to be another insane work day. My coworker has been out all this week and I’ve been doing their job plus mine plus other stuff on about 4 hours of sleep a night so I’m exhausted. I finally was able to get decent sleep last night so I hope that helps.

There’s some family drama with FBIL B and I’m annoyed about it. I’m not involved but just seeing FSIL go back to the same pattern of checking on him and making sure he is okay is infuriating. The manipulation is like a flashing neon sign but she can’t see it.

We’re supposed to go to Costco tonight. I’m trying to gather the strength to finish out the work day and then fight the crowds there. I don’t know if I foresee everything shutting down like before, but I would like some extra supplies so we can minimize trips out to the grocery store and such. I’m getting so many positive cases now at work and it just feel next level exhausting. We didn’t have to be in this predicament if people had just gotten vaccinated and continued contact precautions for a few more months.

Thanks @levioosa. It's sad for the family and she's the matriarch and yet this is life. She's in her mid 90s and my hope is that she does not suffer because my understanding is that she's eating nearly nothing and her cognition is massively decreased.

Nothing special going on today. Last night we went out to dinner with friends. Sat outside and it was gorgeous. I agree @mrsconn23 the weather could stay like this all the time!

Nothing much interesting here. I'm shopping for a new pair of sneakers. I don't really want to go to a store and try stuff on, so I'm thinking about just buying another pair of the same ones I have, which feels kind of boring. I think I'm going to try to get back running again this fall. I was never much of a runner, but was up to 5K a few years ago and slacked off. I'd like to get back there. I don't see myself feeling comfortable being back in the gym any time soon.

@CharmedPam OMG, when I realized she was with Steve Howey. So, I looked back on their IG pages, and it seems like MAYBE she was over with Steve Howey at some point in 2020, and started up with Adam Demos very soon after. Maybe they overlapped. But I did my own little deep dive.

Shanola Hampton, who played Steve's Howey's wife in Shameless was friends with Sarah up until around when she started filming Sex/Life. Then I noticed Sarah stopped posting about Steve, and wasn't wearing her wedding ring. And then Adam was liking Sarah's pictures, and Steve and Shanola no longer were. And then Dec of last year, Sarah and Adam posted their first picture together.

AND Steve and Shanola no longer follow Sarah on IG, but she still follows them.

Yes, I was bored last night.

@short+sassy That sucks about your laptop. @levioosa - mine is ten years old as well! I got lucky with it, but it does show some signs of being on its last legs. But then again, it will randomly have this green screen for a few days and then go back to normal and it has done that for at least a year now sporatically, so it just keeps going!

@banana468 Happy 14th! I hope you have fun as kid-free adults today! Sorry to hear about DH's grandma though.

I cut down my mulberry tree this week, because it was planted too close to my house and was getting too big to manage, and I was worried about roots. However, I really did love it, so I'm planning to make it into a "fairy house". I want to make it a different kind of roof. Does anyone have any ideas?
