Using 2021 dated favors for a COVID postponed now 2022 wedding?

Hi! I'm on my 2nd replanning of what was to be a 2020 wedding. This year, we made it until August, and then decided to cancel the October 2021 Florida destination wedding and move it to October 2022 in Philadelphia. We have favors with the 2021 date on them already - what do you think about using them along with a new favor or two in the gift bags? If not, we rebuy everything and we've already lost enough replanning this wedding. Thoughts? Will people understand with COVID?
Thanks!

Re: Using 2021 dated favors for a COVID postponed now 2022 wedding?

  • What kind of favor is it? Can it be relabeled with the new date?
  • I don't really like dated favors anyway so I wouldn't care one way or the other.
  • We have mint tins, hand sanitizer, and bubble tubes. The rest of the stuff isn't dated (luckily we were able to postpone the shipping of our real favors like yearling trees - I definitely have a recommendation for that vendor if anyone wants it!) So these would just be little things for the gift bags.
  • Just use what you have. I went to a wedding years ago where the bride's brother had had cancer so they postponed the wedding a year. They still used the napkins with the original date on it. I'm sure no one cared.
  • As long as it's not something food that's dated 2020, may as well use them!
  • I would toss the mints, but keep the rest. Mints do expire (they won't kill you, they'll just taste stale and the oils can go rancid) and after a year, these should be thrown away.

But you really don't have to do favors at all, so if this is causing you stress, just use what you've already bought and call it a day.
