So...dad won't be there.

I haven't seen my dad since I was 13 when my parents seperated and finally divorced last summer. My dad can't enter the states due a very complicated visa problem and we couldn't visit him because flying to Asia is way more than we can afford.
I have been engaged for 2 1/2 years hoping that will help my dad get his visa. I finally got the e-mail today from him: " Hi Megan, I'm sorry but daddy can't come to the wedding. I will be praying for you two. "

  • I'm so sorry. I know it's not the same but have you guys skyped? My baby sis lives in AK and we will Skype. For example we set up the computer on my moms tv for my shower. It allowed her to kind of be there. Like I said not the same, but maybe it would at least allow your dad to see you get ready and give you face to face father type advice before you get married.

  • I don't know if this fits into your budget, but they have options where you can privately simulcast (webcast) your wedding on the Internet to invited people only who can see everything and chat with other online guests about your wedding while it is in progress! Packages are cheaper if you have your own video equipment (and just need the service) otherwise they can rent you the equipment too!*

You can also set up Skype or some other video conferencing afterwards so that you can see/talk to other guests who are also on the Internet. It's not the same as being there, but it's a great way to incorporate your dad or any other important guests that can't be there.

I forget the name of the company, but if you google it, you could find it.

These are great ideas. Thank you!
I'm just afraid I'll cry if I talk to him. I usually don't skype with him that much because I always cry for 20 minutes after I talk to him.
